This summer we were on vacation in a small town in Virginia and came across one of these kids in the only enclosed mall in town. Needless to say the local Jewish population was minimal. When the kid approached my wife and I to sell his products - I answered him in Hebrew. My wife and I ended up speaking with the kid for 5 or 10 minutes. The impression I got was not one of arrogance but rather that the poor kid was homesick.

i have been living in the usa for many many years. i also come from the middle east, an arab country. many times i have been in malls all over the united states and met with these children that were teenagers or after military service. THEY WERE VERY NICE. THEY WERE MISSING THE FAMILY BACK HOME. THEY WANTED TO SEE THE WORLD AND WORK A LITTLE BIT FOR EXTRA MONEY.
