10 Talkbacks for this article
1. Quite right too!!!
Jonathan ,   Hashmonaim   (10.25.09)
About time the IDF took action against the Zionist threat. How can it possibly be justified to recruit soldiers for such blatantly political activities as dismantling settlements and then tell them to put a lid on their political views?
2. punishment
(10.25.09)
Two privates were punished for breaking army regulations while high ranking officers violate regulations with impunity. That is not how an army should function.
3. Get used to it:
Ariel ,   Europe   (10.25.09)
Religious composition of IDF changes. In future there will be more and more soldiers with this horrible thing called "Jewish conscience" imbedded in their soul.
4. Kol HaKavod Chayalim!!!!!
Shira ,   NY Be"H YERUSHALAYIM   (10.25.09)
Shame of the IDF for what they are doing to you.
5. Israel is a hypocritical state
usa   (10.25.09)
Outlaw a Zionist party Kach by branding it a terrorist organization and negotiate "peace" with an Islamic terrorist organizations such as Fatah, Hamas, etc.
6. Who are the idiots "advising" these kids?
JPS ,   Efrat   (10.25.09)
The Wolpo guy obviously knows next to nothing about democracy. Soldiers do not have the right to protest, and what they did was illegitimate. It is sedicious morons like Wolpo who are polluting kids' minds (and their parents peabrains too) with this blah blah about "democracy" and "legitimate protest". The majority of us Israelis recognize this for what it is: irresponsible failure to maintain discipline by soldiers. These soldiers have put an end to any military career, as they have shown that their comrades cannot even rely on them to stand at attention during a ceremony. As for you "proud" talkbackers: get pick up the IDF rulebook on military discipline. No, a soldier does not have any "right" to protest. It wasn't "legitimate". It was just plain stupid.
7. Such a "punishment." They won't be ordered to steal land
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (10.25.09)
from Jews. If that is a punishment, all IDF troops should get the same punishment.
8. JPS, Efrat #6: Are you familiar with the Nuremberg defense?
Steve   (10.25.09)
"I was only following orders." This was and is the Nuremberg defense. "Befehl ist Befehl." An "order is [an] order." "I am not responsible for my immoral acts." You seem comfortable as a Jew (?) with this defense or justification at the Nuremberg trials. Am I wrong?
9. out of balance
edgarh ,   nyc usa   (10.25.09)
Press coverage made it seem bigger than 2 idiots. If it was more widespread then this diciplinary action is inadequate. If only 2 were involved then the incident was overblown.

You wrote: "As for you "proud" talkbackers: pick up the IDF rulebook on military discipline. No, a soldier does not have any "right" to protest. It wasn't "legitimate"....." Might I suggest to you, pick up the Jewish rulebook, the Torah. No, a Jewish soldier should not be ordered to expel law-abiding Jews from our land; as was done to the wonderful residents of Gush Katif, Gaza and to other law-abiding Jewish citizens. This only serves to undermine morale, internal discipline, respect for authority and cohesion in Israel's military.
