1. wages
interesting that the public sector has no money for teachers but can find all this money for everyone else

2. Do like industry, fire the overpaid heavyweights
Israel is rife with talent.
Fire the fat salaried people, pay out the pitzuim, and hire somebody new and just as talented at 1/3 of the price. The new person obviously has a bright future ahead, and even if you eventually bump their salary up to 1/2 of what the fat cats are currently making - we the taxpayers are ahead of the game!
Let the layoffs begin!

3. These wages are LOW!
In America/Europe the wages are hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions!

4. Wages
Those mentioned are most probably deserving - and the govt takes half of these salaries. In any case, every year this matter becomes newsworthy.
The real problem exists for those who do not rcv even the min.wage.

6. These wages are pathetically low.
For a senior surgeon to be earning $33,000 a year is pathetic. There is going to be a brain drain in this country. Even the other wages that are in this article are low. This talk is childish.

9. It is criminal
that army full timers are allowed to retire at 45 leaving the country to pay for them for another 25 years. Let them retire at 65 like everyone,

10. #9 Standing army personnel....
.... retire after x years of service all over the world, and not at the standard retirement age.
The idea is not to have a bunch of elderly men and women, who aren't going to risk their lives, send youngters to be killed when they themselves are sitting in an office.

11. To # 10
Elderly???? 45-65 is elderly....what ARE you talking about, The men and women who run our army do not have to be physically fit to carry on their job, as we all know.
People live quite well into their 80's and 90's today,
My comment has nothing to do with the policy of running the IDF. I am talking about the healthy and able men and women who leave at 45 with a pension for the rest of their working life, If they can carry on working, why shouldn't they? Just imagine the expertise that is being wasted as well as the tax money,

12. Public Sector
If you want a good talented manager then you have to pay well.
I have a problem with all the kviyut in the public sector that leads to loads of dead weight coffee drinking slackers, who do no work and can't be fired.
Stop the kviyut and be like the private sector. Meet your goals and you keep your job, be a lazy useless parasite, get fired.

13. When it is the public sector that is
over paid, then we all pay in taxes and higher costs.
However when it is the private sector, then they steal from the workers and also customers pay a higher price.
We need to make sure that those in positions of management in the public as well as private sector are the right people. No more "protekzia" or hiring useless relatives. Make sure the managers on all levels have the education and the ability to work with others, especially those under them.
