Amnesty: Israel withholds water from Palestinians    Associated Press
1. Ynet, which master are you serving?
"This is a false, manipulative report whose results were predetermined," Tsviki Bar Hai, head of Har Hevron Regional Council, said in response. Why not a heading like this one? Don't we know that all the "human rights" committees are pro Arab and so are you.

2. Israeli water use = use in US and even Ramallah
Regarding the canard of Israelis using much more water than Palestinians. Sorry, it doesn’t wash, so to speak. A study produced by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences along with their Jordanian, Palestinian and Israeli counterparts ten years ago, found little difference between water consumption in Israeli and Palestinian urban areas. “Per capita water use for urban Palestinians reaches a maximum of 100 cubic meters a year, similar to Israeli use.” The study suggests that low figures for rural Palestinians “is likely to increase with improvement in the level of living.” More telling, however, is the report’s finding that “water losses unaccounted for [theft or leaks] in the [Palestinian] distribution network” reach 55 percent[!] Lastly, all modern, developed 21st century societies use much more water than developing societies. “The United States and Canada are the highest per capita water users in the world,” according to the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, “…per person usage is more than 2.5 times that in Asia or Europe, and over six times that in Africa.” Cross the border into Mexico and per capita water usage drops by two-thirds.

3. Only depriving them of water?
I thought the Jews were poising wells. Perhaps Amnesty will report that next.
Zionist ,   Gush Etzion   (10.27.09)
4. wrongly stated
What is "fair share of water"? There is no such thing. Israel is one geographical entity which water supply is the Golan, Judea and Samaria. This is something that Arafat understood and why he advocated the extermination of the Jews. He was not a racist, but knew there can't be two viable states. Imagine what would happen under the Olmert/Obama plan for importing another 2-4 million Arabs into Israel.

5. Israeli Lies
I just saw this news item on western TV, and despite showing pictures of Palestinians having to collect water in soft drink bottles, pictures of contaminated ponds, raw sewrage, stagnant water, Israel denied any fault, and said it supplied the WB and Gaza with ample fresh water, and it was up to the Palestinians to co-ordinate their supplies better! Israel steals and diverts water for themselves. Picture a wide-mouthed shark grinning, and saying that they will use the least painful method to eat you, before biting into you, and you have the typical Israeli jew.

6. Amnesty Israel bashing again!
I am sure that if there was no Israel then Amnesty International would blame the Jews for all the ills of the world. AI ignores the brutal treatment of the Uighurs in China, the atrocities committed by the Turks against the Kurds, the floggings and stoning in Saudi Arabia, the killings and executions in Iran of "dissidents" and Gays and the open season murder on Russia of those who dare criticize Putinism! The tragedy is that Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the other anti-Israel NGOs have cried wolf once too often and their credibility is now a laughing matter! Is it not time to investigate who is funding these harbingers of hatred against Israel and Jews? The Human Rights Watch Report on the Gaza operation which has been withdrawn, was funded by Saudi Arabia. That is REAL objectivity!

7. Hummus thieves.....
You kill Palestinians and steal their organs, you steal land, you steal water, you even stole Hummus and Tabbouly from the Lebanese, and you wonder why Hezbollah would not give up its arms? lol ..... Your leaders Olmert, Barak are Lieberman are under investigation for double billing, money laundering and theft. I wonder why????
Marco ,   Spain   (10.27.09)
8. DO NOT SELL TURKISH WATER TO ISRAEL!
Whose approval obtained to sell Turkish water to Israel? Turkish water from Manavgat is not a private property and it is subject to Governmental approval AKP of Erdogan both make show against Israel and sell Turkish Water to Israel. AKP is pretending muslim, even Israeli airforces trained in Turkey before Gaza massacre. Erdogan cancelled AIF training recently what about previous training?AKP is governmet for last 7 years and Israel enjoyed support of AKP In fact All AKP MPs are members of Israeli caucus and they are therefore a member of Israeli friends association.

11. Piling on
Is there any surprise another report comes out in the wake of Goldstone accusing Israel of horrifying crimes against the Arabs? First Israel needs to be punished because it chose to defend itself after 8 years of unrelenting rocket attacks that disrupted any semblance of normal life in the South. Now of course, they needs to be blamed since the Arabs pollute their own water sources and invest nothing in any sort of waste-water recycling technology even though Israel provides them with enough to live on. Or like Hamas, waste money on bombs instead of water. I wonder what will be next. Reports like this show contempt for Arabs since they basically show that they dont care about their own, but hey...we all knew that. I'm just sorry the delivery system for this message is raking Israel over imaginary coals. www.tzomet.net

12. Bethlehem had an hour a day of running water last summer
Ive seen it with my own eyes Israel controls access to the west bank acquifier and allocates 10 times as much to the settlers. Everyone knows this. Yet there is an olympic sized swimming pool in one of the settlements. And manicured ornamental grass

14. If they are so thirsty,
Why do they not run a pipe line from Jordan or Egypt, they have more to spare than drought ridden Israel! Or better still with all the billions of $'s they have had from the rest of the world why not take it out of the big cats bank accounts and spend it on cleaning up their sewers, and building a desalination plant? I object to them having even 1 litre of our water. And the woman in the short clip on sky news did not look thirsty to me. The house was filthy but there were no flies or live roaches around would be around apart from the human ones that is.

15. Peace corp not A,I,
"The 450,000 Israelis who live in the West Bank and east Jerusalem use more water than the 2.3 million Palestinian residents, Amnesty said." That's right, and it has nothing to do with rationing. "Yo, Ahmeds -- take a shower fercrissakes, or we'll tell Amnesty Int'l that you are polluting our supply of air". It's a cultural thing that the well-scrubbed white college kids who make up Amnesty Int'l just can't understand. Quit the bumper-sticker club of A.I. and try some gritty peace corp work first, then you'll have some clue.

19. #9 Rosie
Thanks Rosie-I hit a nerve! The truth hurts Rosie, and you don't like it. Believe me, the world does not see Israel in any way as benevolent, and soon in the Hague, the world will see Israel and jews, for what it is, and for what they really are. Enjoy your well-watered grass, your swimming pools, and overhydration while you can. Rosie, it will soon be all over, and the world will acknowledge that Israeli jews are DISGUSTING!

20. Solving this problem?
Making fresh water from the air with a windmill. There is a factory in the Netherlands (Dutch Rainmaker) that extracts water from the air. They only use windpower. Perhaps an idea for this situation? dutchrainmaker.nl/

21. Watch & Tape BBC Report
Look again at the man filling soft drink bottles--at the spigot running full blast, most of it going down the drain EVEN BEFORE the bottle fills... then it ALL goes down the drain. Look at all of the bottles they fill that way. That one trough wastes more water in a day than my whole family uses in 2 months. Even the lady filling buckets pays no mind to sloshing the water onto the deck. Not to mention the water pirated by their farmers by illegal taps in pipelines. That happens all over the Arab areas. I wonder what differential, if any, there might be if they respected and conserved water like Israelis do instead of pointing to recycled sewage water being sprinkled onto fields and ignorantly thinking it's wasting water coming out of the ground. 22. What Metrics Collected?
Quote"It says that Israel uses more than 80 percent of water drawn from the aquifer ..." I'm curious as to source of the data. What was measured, how was it measured, who measured it, for how long a time period?

25. #13, tell that to the people in IL trying to broker the deal
if IL doesnt need them so much. anyway, im curious if israelis have received about a month or 2 ago from the water company about penalties going to take effect on water use and saving water and such?
jerusalem   (10.28.09)
26. How does Amnesty define "fair share"?
Israel is a western industrialized nation while "palestinians" are a group of people with an agrarian lifestyle/economy. In measuring "fair share", let's discuss output of technology, jobs, money, and especially water-treatment per input of water, and compare the two populations. You'd see the "pals" far exceed their "fair share". Keep in mind also that Israel piped a lot of water into the West Bank and Gaza to homes which never had running water - after 1967. In the past 3 years, Israel gave the OK for a few hundred new wells to be drilled but the PA didn't act on it till today. In Gaza, pipes are ripped up to make rockets - but Israel still has water to send into Gaza when they are ready to receive it.

27. AMNESTY....NOT ONE MORE CENT FROM ME
I DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE OR GROUPS AT ALL. I ALSO WILL NOT VOLUNTEER MY SERVICES TO CERTAIN GROUPS ..... THAT'S FOR CERTAIN. HOWEVER THESE " NOT TO BE TRUSTED " GROUPS MENTIONED HERE, ALSO HAVE TIES AND AFFILIATIONS WITH OTHER MORE RECOGNISED, LEGITIMATE GROUPS. I WOULD WITHHOLD ANY DONATIONS AND SERVICES TO ANY WHO AFFILIATED WITH THEM AS WELL. THERE ARE MANY GOOD CAUSES THAT WE KNOW OF THAT WOULD APPRECIATE OUR TIME AND MONETARY DONATIONS........ LIKE JEWISH SENIORS HOMES, SYNAGOGUES, SDEROT CITIZENS, CHABAD LUBAVITCH AND MUCH MORE..
