Turkey, with its Islamic heritage could never be impartial when it gets down to standing by felow Muslims or siding by infidels (in this case Jews. So Israel, is on its own and should thrive to support other minorities in the area (including Turkey) who are natural its allies.

The ME should be free of nuclear weapons. However nuclear technology for peaceful civilian purposes should be available to all countries in the region. Such as the nuclear programme that Iran is developing under Article IV of the NNPT. To stop nuclear proliferation in the ME one must address the matter of Israel's nuclear stockpile. You can't have one country in the ME with nukes without other countries seeking to address the balance. Israel must disarm/dismantle its nukes if the ME is ever to be free of nuclear weapons. I would also mention that the IAEA (under Mohamed ElBaradei) proposed that ALL enrichment of uranium be put under international control, that is all enrichment would be done by an international body eg: the IAEA not by individual states. This would effectively curb/end the matter of proliferation. The proposal was of course shot down by America. Pity as it would have been a great leap forward towards a safer world.

Of course, an alliance with Syria and Iran is a possible alternative to an EU membership for Turkey. But, do you think, these countries will pay Turkey billions of USD as subsidies and let uneducated Turks migrate into their social systems? I don't think so.

Arbia Jordan has been invaded by Syria with the intention of annexing it to Syria, if not for Israel that came to the rescue in 1970, the Hashemite dynasty there was kicked out of Mecca by the Ibn Saud tribe and are suspicious of their intentions. Yemen was invaded by both F.
