Clinton: Israel must do more on settlement issue    News agencies
1. Clinton and Mitchel and o-BUM-a are as useful as a six
year old girl volunteering for a minyan that needs four more men.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.02.09)
2. Can you enter talks about removing settlers while building?
The Roadmap calls for building to stop as agreed by all parties afew years ago but Netanyahu is boxed in since he gov. could fail if he tried to fully stop building. The US talks about being against settlements but the loans used to help build them were guaranteed by the US gov., if US wanted the building to stop then they would put up sanctions or atleast the threat of it.
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (11.02.09)
3. Israel Must Stop Building on Stolen Land
Many Palestinian land owners are locked outside of Israel, and are refused permission to re-enter Israel to claim there family's historic lands. The jews then say that the land is unoccupied, invent a deed of title, and merrily start building illegal ghettos on stolen land. This is now happening at an astonishing rate, as the rush is on to jewdiase Pallestinian land, so that when it comes time to establish permanent borders, the jews will say that all of these homes are occupied by jews, and therefore it is no longer Pallestine. What beggars belief, is that EVERY DAY this is happening, and despite calls from the Pallestinians to stop, and the Yanks to refrain/restrain or restrict settlement activities, NO-ONE does a bloody thing to enforce it! No wonder the jews are laughing at us all. I hate jews laughing! But maybe we will have the last laugh, when the UN takes over the policing and law enforcement from the 2 naughty schoolboys, examines the deeds of titles, and kicks the jews out of their ill-gotten ghettos, and ushers the waiting Pallestinians into their new homes! Then there are all the olive farms destroyed, stolen or having an ugly concrete wall through the middle..........

4. Demands, demands, demands
"This offer falls far short of what our preference would be but if it is acted upon it will be an unprecedented restriction on settlements and would have a significant and meaningful effect on restraining their growth." Contemplate the fact, Madame Secretary, that Israel is in the business of doing what is good for Israel and that Israeli policies are set in Jerusalem, not Washington D.C. Why don't you devote your best efforts to encouraging the 30-odd Palestinian organizations to repudiate their charters, which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people? Absent such a repudiation, why on earth would you think for a moment that Israel would "negotiate" with people bent on her destruction? The Palestinians have much to do; and not much time before Israel pulls the plug on any negotiations. No one's patience is without end, and, frankly, I marvel at the fact that you appear to be unaware of the fact that the Palestinians have on three occasions rejected a two-state solution. I suggest that your time would be far better spent in applying pressure where it should be applied -- on the Palestinians. Getting them to repudiate their charters and recognize the right of the State of Israel to exist would be a wonderful place to start. Of course, you would also have to work out precisely which of the thirty-odd competing Palestinian organizations might make a reasonable negotiating partner for Israel, but that's your problem, not Israel's. We know what we are dealing with; clearly you do not.

5. Removing the settlements like geting olives out of a jar
Remove the first one and the rest are easy.
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (11.02.09)
6. It's not clear to: Why do self-proclaimed "progressives" are
so eager to be part of the orgy of preventing Jews, only because they are Jewish, from residing in villages, towns and even city neighborhoods? Regardless of the future status of the disputed territories, why can't Jews, just because they are Jewish, live in parts of their ancestral homeland? Why do Muslim-Arabs, nearly 20% of Israel's population, can reside in Israel but the future Arab political entity next door to it must be Jew-free, "cleansed" of its Jewish residents?
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.02.09)
7. To: No. 3 - Part 1 of 2
Israel acquired Judea and Samaria while fighting a defensive war against Jordan in 1967. Under the First and Second Hague Conventions, Israel has the right to retain territories acquired while fighting a defensive war. Israel also has the right to settle such territories. Nothing illegal about it, sweetie. Moreover, while the Hague Conventions are binding and enforceable, it is with great sorrow that I must inform you that United Nations resolutions are neither binding nor enforceable. Which is to say, not worth the paper they are written on. Read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_resolution

Deeds of titles? Oh yeah, right. Want to know what the Palestine was that the Jews found when they came and purchased land from the rightful owners -- the Ottoman Turks -- who, by the way, thought the Jews were completely crazy for wanting such worthless land. Here you go: take it from Mark Twain, not me: The following is an excerpt from Mark Twain's "Innocents Abroad," which puts paid once and for all to the Palestinian myth of lush olive groves and orchards. Hard to believe that the fertile and forested Galilee of today is the bleak, desolate and abandoned Galilee that Mark Twain visited. "Of all the lands there are for dismal scenery, I think Palestine must be the prince. The hills are barren, they are dull of color, they are unpicturesque in shape. The valleys are unsightly deserts fringed with a feeble vegetation that has an expression about it of being sorrowful and despondent. The Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee sleep in the midst of a vast stretch of hill and plain wherein the eye rests upon no pleasant tint, no striking object, no soft picture dreaming in a purple haze or mottled with the shadows of the clouds. Every outline is harsh, every feature is distinct, there is no perspective -- distance works no enchantment here. It is a hopeless, dreary, heart-broken land. " "Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes. Over it broods the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies. Where Sodom and Gomorrah reared their domes and towers, that solemn sea now floods the plain, in whose bitter waters no living thing exists -- over whose waveless surface the blistering air hangs motionless and dead -- about whose borders nothing grows but weeds, and scattering tufts of cane, and that treacherous fruit that promises refreshment to parching lips, but turns to ashes at the touch. Nazareth is forlorn; about that ford of Jordan where the hosts of Israel entered the Promised Land with songs of rejoicing, one finds only a squalid camp of fantastic Bedouins of the desert; Jericho the accursed, lies a moldering ruin, to-day, even as Joshua's miracle left it more than three thousand years ago; Bethlehem and Bethany, in their poverty and their humiliation, have nothing about them now to remind one that they once knew the high honor of the Saviour's presence; the hallowed spot where the shepherds watched their flocks by night, and where the angels sang Peace on earth, good will to men, is untenanted by any living creature, and unblessed by any feature that is pleasant to the eye. Renowned Jerusalem itself, the stateliest name in history, has lost all its ancient grandeur, and is become a pauper village; the riches of Solomon are no longer there to compel the admiration of visiting Oriental queens; the wonderful temple which was the pride and the glory of Israel, is gone, and the Ottoman crescent is lifted above the spot where, on that most memorable day in the annals of the world, they reared the Holy Cross. The noted Sea of Galilee, where Roman fleets once rode at anchor and the disciples of the Saviour sailed in their ships, was long ago deserted by the devotees of war and commerce, and its borders are a silent wilderness; Capernaum is a shapeless ruin; Magdala is the home of beggared Arabs; Bethsaida and Chorazin have vanished from the earth, and the "desert places" round about them where thousands of men once listened to the Saviour's voice and ate the miraculous bread, sleep in the hush of a solitude that is inhabited only by birds of prey and skulking foxes." The Palestinians are a myth. Those in Gaza are citizens of Egypt. Those in Judea and Samaria are citizens of Jordan. You were three times offered a two-state solution; you rejected this each time, preferring to go to war, six of which you have lost. You are destined for the trash heap of history -- hell, you're seven-eighths of the way there already.

Reread the "Road map", which in any case is a non-binding document written by George Bush who is considered by many to be a war criminal. Neither Israel nor Arabs are allowed to do any steps that prejudice the end agreement. Since the Arabs continue building in violation of the Road map there is no reason for Israel to do the same.

10. The essence of the Arab Israeli conflict is of course the
Muslim-Arabs' total refusal, since 1947, to accept Israel's legitimacy; to accept Israel's right to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people. The "settlements" issue is a red herring, pushed to the fore by the Muslim-Arab leadership in its attempt to divert attention from dealing with the core issue of the conflict, something the present government of Israel has demanded of it to do. Instead of demanding of Jews, only because they are Jewish, not to reside in certain neighborhoods, in certain villages and towns - a racist demand however one looks at it - people of good will in our region and abroad, people who truly wish to see an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Arab and Jew, between Israel and its Arab neighbors, should demand of the Palestinian Arab neighborhood to take the simple yet so necessary and state, in Arabic, its acceptance of Israel's right to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people, and to then back up such a statement with a few simple acts, deeds that will demonstrate its real conviction in such a statement. Such a step will lead to a sea-change of attitude among Jews worldwide, within and without Israel, which will enable Israel to take additional risky steps by way of advancing an accommodation of peaceful coexistence. Focusing on "settlements" will only do the opposite. You have your choice, and so does the Obama administration.

15. Political Gymnastics!
What happened to what she said yesterday? Those in the US foreign department are running out of ideas on a daily basis and following the like puppets the arab demands. Now you see her,now you don't. I, like my family/friends reached a point whereby it isbetter to ignore the lot of them.I don't mean the arabs( we are innured to their demands)and no surprise there. What is so galling is the spitting at the Pres' & the Country called US of A. I am aiming my criticism to the US.for acting like a second class entity at the mercy(so to speak)to these arabs who have nothing to offer in return. More to come if I can be bothered.

16. To no 3
Briefly put Resistor:LAND IS NOT STOLEN.Why?because one doesn't steal one's own land. Therefore, your assumption is a non sequitur. ISRAEL ALL OF IT BELONGS TO THE JEWS. The rest are arabs who have entered illigally from diverse parts of the surrounding places near Israel when they saw what the early pioneers did and came in the 1800' to find a malaria infested & dismal condition place. And MADE THE DESERT BLOOM.That was the beginning of it, which proves Arabs do not belong in our country. They are lucky to have the benefits/largess from Israel. In fact why they prefer to remain rather than relocate elsewhere.. Your long post is full of piffle.

Zilch. Road map has now passed its sale by date.To continue: The US does not run OUR country, nor has its jurisdiction over it.We are not an ADJUNCT of the US..We are SOVEREIGN. The US can talk, but cannot tell us Jews where to live or BUILD. You continue with he silly threats of sanctions?by all means let them just try. The losers will not be ISRAEL but the Americans. Nobody, can express it better, then Sarah (#4)...Your analisys is always based on hard historical facts, that many people writing here have no clue about or conveniently forget...American diplomacy in the world these days is a joke - just a reflection of this weak, destructive and appologetic government, that is set to kill our Democracy. Hope it will not last for long.... Now , Israel is all alone on this "World War On Terror" proclaimed by the Bush government. Sara, please keep up the good work here....

"The US talks about being against settlements but the loans used to help build them were guaranteed by the US gov., if US wanted the building to stop then they would put up sanctions or atleast the threat of it." Hey Bloodyscot, I don't know quite to break this to you, but the settlements were built using privately raised equity by Jewish organizations throughout the world. No loans from the United States. No guarantees from the United States. How sad that you have no trouble making up "facts" to buttress your arguments. Most of us consider that to be the last refuge of a scoundrel. Tsk, tsk. Shame on you.

27. Eitan's dreams and his posts...
Eitan I noticed some irregularities in your responses at Jpost, and here. I cannot fathom which party you follow. Are you a leftists,a middle of the road rightist or what? On reading your posts I cannot help being puzzled. That miserable double crossing perverted r cummings(that I dislike with all my being)even he,thought you were near understanding the crux of the matter which of course pleased him no end (the bastard).but when you write,it does give the wrong impression to what goes on in your motivation. Now too you are trying to bring in the worldwide Jews.Excuse me,no one is preventing them to take part, providing they toe OUR LINE UNLIKE THOSE LIBERAL JSTREET boobies we can discard and would not want them into our world.Their sole ambition is to delegitimize our country even further. Ooops just noticed where your allegience lies...A PROPER LEFTY IF EVER THERE WAS ONE. Where that will get you is nowhere but at the bottom of the VIPER'S PIT.

29. Bloody dumb, that scot from texas
Loan guarantees to build the settlements? What century are you in? Those are long gone and distant history. Anybody who gets a house in Judea and Samaria pays for it. And our taxes pay for the infrastructure and services. And we pay LOTS of taxes. And go read the roadmap again cuz it definitely calls on the Pals to stop shooting at us, but they fired what, 3 or 4 kassams in the past week. Funny, but I don't recall a single talkback from you demanding the Pals stop shooting at us. Gosh, and if they announce a total stop on shooting at Israeli civilians, both Fatah and Hamas will fall. But you didn't write about that either. If the US wanted the shooting to stop they would put up sanctions, no?
JPS ,   Efrat   (11.02.09)
30. To: Jennie at No. 24
Thank you very much, Jennie. It's a long, uphill climb, but I have every intention of continuing. If only one person acquires a better understanding of the reality of the Middle East and the facts of the conflict, then it is well worth the effort. We survived the Jew-hating Carter administration. We'll survive Obama, too. Thank you again.
