I feel offended by the way Efrat Weiss tells her story! First legal owners (is the Israeli legal system a tool of "settlers") are not settlers, are LEGAL owners. Second whoever occupies a property that is not his is an "illegal occupant" in any civilized country. Third Orly Noy for sure believes that keeping the status quo is more important that to abide the law! Can Arabs simply go into now Jewish homes in Haifa and Safed, and reclaim them as they were Arab homes prior to 1948?? Since when can a property owned by a member of a religion be claimed decades later by another member of the same religion? It is about time we consider how the terminology used in English stories impacts perception. The word "settler" should, in my opinion, be replaced with "Pilgrim" which carries as less hefty connotation. I am currently studying broadcast media at the university level and hope to change the way the US media terms various aspects of the Israeli saga. For example, words such as "occupied territory" could be replaced with "disputed zone". The word "occupation" should never be used; as it's opposite is vacancy....
