Build peace with who? The fractious lot that is the thirty-odd Palestinian organizations, each purporting to be the true representative of the Palestinian people? The only thing each of these organizations have in common is that each of their charters call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people. Who could make peace with that rabble? And exactly which of these assorted terrorist groups determined to bring about the destruction of the State of Israel do you think would make the best "negotiating" partner for Israel? Please do not be deluded by expensive suits and good haircuts. Abbas, Erekat and every other so-called Palestinian "leader" came up the ranks not through diplomacy, but through establishing their bona fides by murdering innocent Jews. Lots and lots of innocent Jews. Leopards do not change their spots. Terrorists do not change their beliefs. What better proof is there than the consistent refusal of any Palestinian organization to repudiate its charter and recognize the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland? Six wars and sixty-one years of unrelenting terror have taught Israel -- and Jews, generally -- that the so-called "Palestinians" (it's a made-up term, by the way) are not ever to be trusted. Israel cannot work towards peace with any organization that wishes to see Israel destroyed. Israel is a democratic state. Just ask any of the Moslem Arabs and Christian Arabs and Armenians and Circassians and Druze and Bedouin who enjoy full rights of citizenship. You know, following the establishment of the modern State of Israel in 1948, Jews from all over the world flocked to Israel to help build a thriving state. Roughly one million came because they were ordered out of the Moslem and Arab lands which had been their homes for centuries. Several hundred thousand came from the displaced persons camps in Europe. About fifty thousand came from the British internment camps in Cyprus. Many came from some of the wealthiest Jewish communities in the world -- leaving everything behind in order to help build the State. By contrast -- the Palestine Authority has been in existence for twenty years now. How many Palestinians throughout the world, let alone Israel, have flocked to the PA to help build a thriving state? Not one. Not a single, blessed one. Not even Palestinians who are citizens of Israel and would not need to move terribly far away at all, and certainly would not need to adjust to a different language or culture. Still questioning whether Israel is a democracy? Hell, sure it is. Look at all the Arabs -- Christian and Moslem -- living in Israel who have not voted with their feet. The last thing they want to do is give up democratic Israel in favor of the tyrannical and corrupt Palestine Authority.

Out of curiosity, how exactly would you characterize twenty years of Palestinian suicide bombing attacks in Israel and eight years of daily missile barrages fired into Israel's civilian population centers? Israel waited eight patient years before taking steps to end the missile attacks. Name one country that would have waited eight seconds? If you consider the four hundred dead civilians in Gaza (the rest were armed combatants) as a "slaughter," how would you characterize the one thousand or so victims of Palestinian suicide bombings and Hizbollah/Hamas rockets?
33. failed leaders/state/people. join jordan where you belong
ralph   (11.04.09)
34. #28 Our DNA tests prove otherwise and until the 18th century
Adam ,   Tel Aviv, ISrael   (11.04.09)
everyone in the world thought of us as a nation/race
35. erikat stop talking .. just do it
asi   (11.05.09)
why the hell you still talking about 2-state it's not valid one state will bring peace nothing else we didn't wait all this time to get state on the israeli mood
36. #32 what a white history you have
asi   (11.05.09)
befor telling stories on others better to get what you missed of your own history
37. #7 Sharon - SHUT UP !
(11.05.09)
38. Ah Palestinians
Cameron ,   USA   (11.05.09)
You are paying the price for decades of trying to exterminate the Israelis, instead of sitting down to honestly strike the hard, but mutually fair arrangements with them. You still persist in playing this zero-sum game of issuing threats and trying to dictate terms. You are a human monument to stagnant stasis.
39. A state was never the Palestinian leaders goal
Danny   (11.05.09)
40. ARABS REJECTED 1947 UN RESOLUTION!
andy ,   orlando   (11.05.09)
The Arabs rejected the UN resolution to form an Arab state in Gaza and the West Bank. Instead in 1948 they declared war on Israel! They forfeited their right to any state!!!!
41. Fighting against God
oxo ,   USA   (11.05.09)
The Arabs who are fighting against Israel are fighting God's plan for humanity. Many of them have begun to realize it is futile to overpower tiny Israel...just cannot be done. However Israel needs to repent and turn towards God or relive the same consequences that their forefathers the Israelites went though, time after time for their disobedience to the Almighty.
42. #24 WTF? u odious person! Did you even READ the article?
4th generation ,   American, usa   (11.05.09)
The article has nothing to do with swapping Americans for Palestinians. By making such a far-fetched statement about Jews from America, it is YOU who are insidiously suggesting that American Jews should be ethnically cleansed. Would it make you happier to import Palestinians over here as part of your idea of population swap? Maybe we should just export you over to Gaza and see how you'd like living under the Hamas leadership.
43. One state solution maybe more dangerous long term option
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (11.05.09)
One state solution only works if the Muslims are removed and that includes Israeli Muslims or some Apartheid system. If Palestinians become Israeli citizens then Non-Jews would make up over 40% of under 25 age group. I think Iraq will become a major problem in 10yrs with Iran's help.
44. #14 OzAdam-U mean givem a deal like Aborigines never got?

46. The meaning of the Two States Solution.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (11.05.09)
The instability will not simply remain within Israel's borders. Hamas is a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, which seeks to overthrow Egypt's government and replace it with an Islamic state. Palestinian Arab terrorism has long been a destabilizing factor in Jordan and Lebanon's politics. What they lacked before was a secure national base of operations. Something that the "Two State Solution" will finally provide them with. if the Two State Solution will not end terrorism or bring stability to the Middle East, what exactly will it solve? 47. One Israel, NO Palestine
Sam ,   NY, NSA   (11.05.09)
Mr. Aziz of Jordan, I doubt if you are really an ARAB. Only an Israeli Jew will make that kind of statement. My Solution is One Israel NO Palestinian state and all Gazan and West bank residents be the citizen of Israel.
48. Erekat is a whiner. The real threat to Pal statehood
Zvi   (11.05.09)
is the fact that even Ffatah attacked the only realistic Palestinian plan proposed thus far - Fayyad's 2-years-to-statehood plan. Instead, Fatah prefers to pretend.
49. Civile Rights, Voting Rights, Let the Natives Vote
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (11.05.09)
Palestine-Israel, 2 states, 1 country
50. # 2, Eitan of Israel, being an Arab who lives in Nablus, I
Naim ,   Nablus, West Bank   (11.05.09)
prefer to be part of the Hashemite Kinngdom of Jordan than either a citizen of a Palestinian state that can't function or a part of Israel's controlling power. I am an Arab, and as most citizens of Jordan, I am a Palestinian. It is only natural that we would be part of Jordan and the Jews would be part of Israel. United Nations 242 should be the basis for doing it.
51. An independent Palestinian state has always been a stage,
Eitan   (11.05.09)
one proposed by Yasser Arafat towards the end of the 1980s after he realized that Israel will not be wiped off the face of earth in one-fell-swoop he devised the approach to the same end in stages. But when confronted and asked to a) accept Israel's RIGHT to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people, and b) considering any peace agreement as the "end of the conflict", the Palestinian Arab leadership can't live with it, despite the fact that both Barak and Olmert offered them a state, and this is only recently. They can't accept these two demands because they stand in total contradiction to the Palestinian Arab leadership's real goal: to annihilate Israel at a later date when the opportunity presents itself.
52. Wow, Erekat really aged
Cynthia ,   USA   (11.05.09)
Must be the stress of working day and night to establish a Palestinian state. The sad reality is that Erekat is the Palestinian Chief Negotiator but he's never negotiated anything. He's prompt to step forward to reject and blame Israel but void of solutions and determination to solve this conflict.
53. Erekat is not much of a poker player
zionist forever   (11.05.09)
Israel is not apartheid era South Africa where the blacks were treated as second class citizens even though they were citizens of the same country as the whites. Israel is an independent state which makes its own laws & elects its own governments and the palestinians are not Israeli citizens which means they have no right to demand a single state because they havn't got a two state deal. Its like an Israeli saying to Obama well you havn't treated Israel very good and try to push us around so we demand that we are given full American citizenship because you have been treating us so bad. Israel & South Africa look the same but they are different from a legal standpoint & Erekat knows it. This speech is for the ears of Israels left so they can try and use it as ammunition against the right wing. Its also for US jews tell them if you allow your governments to take Israels side we will take Israel so encourage them to vote for the Obamas and of course its for Obama himself. Even if he wants it if he wants to get be reelected in 2012 he can't support any idea but two states especially now he has his Nobel Prize. If the arabs start demanding a single state he knows his legacy has gone out the window along with the attempts to justify the phony Nobel Prize. Without US backing then any demands for a single state never get off the ground and no president is ever going to put his career on the line or the careers of the senators in his party so he can support something as politically unpopular as that no matter what Israel does and Erekat knows it. Erekat is trying to bluff and he isn't doing a very good job of it he can keep trying though.
54. #41 fighting against God
John of Jordan   (11.05.09)
"relive the same consequences that their forefathers the Israelites went though, time after time for their disobedience to the Almighty. " Their forefathers??? What forefathers? 92% of Israelis are converts from the khazer empire. They converted and have NO link to the Israelites. They are simply land theives, pure and simple.
55. Judaism is a religion not a race.Yaniv #30
Harry Lavoe ,   orange county usa   (11.07.09)
I hate when converts talk like they quote from the torah all day when it comes to land yet drive smoke party all day and night on shabat. Violate mitzvahs. For your information DNA has proved that more than half the jewish population are converts.Actually most israelis are secular when it comes to religion but when it comes to taking land their all for it. Now that you know all this what are you going to do about it?
