The interior walls are corrugated steel, and the floors are wood set on top of heavy grade steel. Empty, such a container weighs 2,250 kilograms. A forty-foot container is the same height but, obviously, contains more steel and is twice as long. Empty, a 40-foot container weighs 3,780 kilograms. Containers are stacked one atop the other, and are locked into place to keep them in place during sea voyages where bad weather is not unheard of. There.
