1. thanks to our corrupt policitical system....
arik ,   usa   (11.07.09)
we have our law makers bending over backwards to appease AIPAC.
2. To: No. 1
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.07.09)
No, what you are seeing is the members of the House of Representatives and the United States Senate bending over backwards to accommodate the wishes of their constituencies that voted them in into office. The people of the United States appear overwhelmingly to agree that Jerusalem is the eternal capital city of the State of Israel. That is where the United States Embassy belongs.
3. whats all the fuss...
(11.07.09)
whats all the fuss about, Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and all the Embassies are in the Hague, also the government is in the Hague...Embassies in Tel Aviv are mich more accesable for the public....please leave all the embassies in TA!!
4. well if u only meet w/people who agree w/u then...
(11.07.09)
naturally you will feel supported and understood! Trick is to go and meet with people who disagree with you and learn about their positions, have them learn about your positions and then work with them to reach a reasonable, good and safe COMPROMISE for all!
5. Congress members? well known; by S, those were two

World Citizen   (11.07.09)
Never have I heard more ludicrous arguments out of a person's mouth. Every three months or so she hauls out a 120 year old quote from Mark Twain to prove how empty Palestine was back in the day. Now Mark Twain was great writer but he was writer of fiction. He wasn't noted for his fair and objective assessments of the foreign lands and cities he visited. He said horrible things about San Francisco and Paris but I'd take them over Tel Aviv or Jewish controlled Jerusalem any day! Now Sarah is claiming all of America loves Israel and what the Israelis do. I sorry but she doesn't read much of the internet. Go to any number of American sites and you will see she is full of it. AIPAC and the rich Jewish political donors may have the US Congress quaking in their shoes but I can tell you that a growing segment of the US population is getting fed up with all things Israeli and the right wing Jewish lobby in Washington, DC. Even liberal Jewish organizations are tired of AIPAC and its ilk. That is why J Street was formed. Sarah, the talking points they give you on those "How to Combat Anti-Israel Voices" websites are as old and tired as Noah's Ark. To anyone who can think you appear as a bought and paid for woman. Give it a rest.
8. Israeli Politicians in Jerusalem?
Moderate Jew ,   New Jersey, USA   (11.07.09)
Curious, how much time do Israeli politicians and other government people spend working or even visiting Jerusalem?
9. Hey World Citizen.....
Yaron ,   USA   (11.07.09)
Please do tell what a just world looks like in your world view. Please also explain the historic context of these fine peace loving folks who are so-called Palestinians. I can't wait to hear back....
10. bias
ari   (11.07.09)
"The US House of Representatives presents an even more extreme version, which is being backed by Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the ranking member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, along with her colleague Dan Burton."..... extreme is a poor choice of words. You could use the word stringent, demanding, or some other word, but extreme has a negative connotation, so the article takes on a negative tone and it sounds like the author is bias. ynet editors should be more careful about word choice in their articles...
11. Asking Jews, only because they are Jewish, not to reside in
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.07.09)
certain neighborhoods of the Jewish people's eternal city is pure and simple a form of racism, anti-Jewish racism at that. I would have expected of the "progressive" Obama and the "liberal" Clinton" not to be racists. Yet, when it comes to Jews, it appears, standards change...

government of the Kingdom of Netherlands. By government constitutional decision Amsterdam is the capital. This has to do with the Netherlandish form of government which is a constitutional monarchy/parliamentary democracy but is generally described as a "consociational state". This means that they like to have as board based a consensus as possible and so compromise is a natural feature of their governing style.

Well, the Knesset is in Jerusalem, so you answer your own question. How much time did Obama spend in Washington while he was campaigning for the presidency? Not too much time, evidently. He was absent for over 80 percent of the roll calls and 70 percent of the votes. Did you have a point you wished to make?

How pathetic could you be, "World Citizen", to come up with this post - full of lies and inventions of you poor mind...Try to immagine, that there are some people, who are devoted to speaking the truth and "fighting" the good fight only because they care...It appears more as it is you,who has some good interest here... FYI, Mark Twain, was not mentioned by Sarah in her message, but you on the other hand by bringing it up, only demonstrated your desporation and lack of knowledge of popular history & literature...Twein was a well educated historian, traveler and a genious writer...Not all of his work was fiction and you should at least pretend to know....Sarah also never mentioned, that all Americans love Israelis or Jews....It is apparent, that Sarah bases her every post on research ...You should feel free to counter her writing with at least some facts...Do not insult the intelligence of this board....
15. what a shame a previous jerusalem mayor didnt feel the same
zionist forever   (11.07.09)
Former mayor of Jerusalem along with his partner in crime Tzipi Livni did more than anybody to say we believe in dividing the capital. Olmert said he believed it was in Israels interests to divide the city he was once elected mayor of. The only reason we had an election was because Livni refused to sign a document promising Shas that she would not divide Jerusalem. She refused to sign so they refused to join her coalition so we had an election. We must ask ourselves now is there such thing as a red line we will never cross in the name of peacemaking. Once the idea of dividing Jerusalem was unthinkabkle & a red line we would never cross. Now support for Israel holding onto eastJerusalem is shrinking fast boith at home and abroad. If we will compromise on that how long before we compromise on other red lines like no refugee returns. The left has been talking about allowing tens of thousands to come to Israel as part of some peace process. What happens if the arabs say they are not going to accept 2 states and want a single state or no peace ever? if the idea becomes popular with the secular left are we going to say ok maybe the days when we were a jewish state has passed and now for the sake of peace we will give it up. Israel is becoming an increasingly secular place. WE MUST FIGHT NOW FOR THIS COUNTRY OR WE WILL LOOSE IT

How sad that you must resort to personal attacks when you cannot argue against substantive matters. Moreover, Mark Twain is known far more for being an essayist and political commentator than he is for fiction. Really galls you, doesn't it, being faced with the facts? Just imagine -- all those pastoral fantasies spewed forth by Palestinian Arabs over the years of lush, fertile plains and thriving Arab villages and dunams of olive groves and orchards turns out to be nothing but pipe dreams. Yeah, I guess it does irk you. That would be YOUR problem. Take it up with the Palestinians for having lied, lo these many years. More fool you for being so gullible as to actually believe them. But I see you have launched yourself onto claims of Jewish calumny and Jewish conspiracy and alleged Jewish control of international finance and international media, yada yada. You know how much validity that has? Less than the stories of peaceful, pastoral Palestine. I don't need anyone's "Talking Points." The day I cannot bat away arguments put forth by people like you is the day I no longer bother. I'm not bought and paid for by anyone. Although in the circles you probably travel, I suppose you don't encounter very many educated and articulate women. Too bad. If that's all you want, just pop into any synagogue. Unless, of course, you prefer your women to be docile, toothless, uneducated and sporting many tattoos. I don't fit that bill, for which I am extraordinarily grateful. Go out and find the beer-guzzling girl of your dreams, dear -- you can bypass the synagogues; she won't be there.

Thank you for recognizing the truth and speaking out. I do appreciate it. Makes me realize that the time I spend crafting my responses to the nonsense that is spewed forth by the ignorant is well worth it. Some of them do tend to get a bit nasty when confronted with the truth and historical documentation to back it up, but -- that would be their problem, wouldn't it? Thank you again, Jennie.
18. If You Know The American People ...
Christy ,   Boston, US   (11.08.09)
If you know the American People and how close Congress is to knowing what the average American wants, this makes perfect sense. Congress men and women get bucket loads of mail, email and phone calls from their constituents who let them know what they expect their Congresspeople to support or oppose. Haven't the faintest idea what AIPAC's position is on anything because I never pay attention to them. However, I DO know that many Evangelical Christians have wanted the US Embassy relocated to Jerusalem for quite some time AND have let Congress know about it. Reason? A statement to Israel and the world that the US supports Jerusalem as the undivided capitol of the Jewish state of Israel.
