31. IF THIS IS TRUE THEN BIBI HAS LOST ALL CREDIBILITY
zionist forever   (11.12.09)
His campaign promise was he would not give away the Golan. If he is telling the maffia thug Assad that in principle we are willing to give up the Golan he will have broken one of his primary campaign promises and is no longer fit to be PM. He also risks destroying his own coalition unless he wants to get rid of his right wing coalition partners and form a new left wing government with Labour and Kadima which will delight Obama. This is make or break time for Bibi

its funny how you refer to Golan heights as "give away" rather than "give back" ... Israel existed before Golan heights for almost 20 years! so whats the problem now? and if you are worried about the Irani missiles, well they can reach any city in Israel already so your argument makes no sense. Syrian and Irani missiles can reach the Najaf desert but who wants that? I as a syrian representing many of the moderate syrians wouldn't want that, neither want seeing Israeli bombs raining on my beloved Damascus. and its funny how you actually believe what Wafa sultan says about Syrians, please don't be a typical american who blindly believes what is being said by one person about 20M people nation. you as an American are welcomed to Syria to see for yourself, maybe Syrians"the wolves" aren't as violent and extreme as you have been told!!

zionist forever   (11.12.09)
What you say is so true. For thousands of years jews dreamed of returning to the Promised Land. The zionist movement fought for nearly a century to get the state. Israelis died in wars to keep the state. Now the politicians & the left wing want to sell it. The arabs at least want to hang onto land once they get it and selling their birthright would be unthinkable to them but jews do it and its mainly to appease others. Jews seem to like being victims more than the rulers. Better to live in the diaspora as victims who dream of a land of their own rather than live and rule over a jewish state. Problem is we have already sold soverignty over this land to America in exchange for $2 billion military aid and the odd perk now and again. We are servants of the US not masters in our own land.
34. Give It To Syria,
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.12.09)
as long as: 1. All the Jews can continue to live there. 2. Jews can buy land and build settlements anywhere there, freely and without interference. 3. Jews can travel to and from this area without any impediment whatsoever. 4. Jews living in the new "Syrian" Golan will be exempt from paying Israeli taxes, and doing the army. 5. Syria will support Jewish industry and development. 6. Syria will protect the Jews and guarantee their safety. Start with that. If Syria agrees to these terms and permit peaceful and massive Jewish settlement in Golan, I'm for it. Anything for real peace.

Halleluya Sarah B. , Its seems that your Bibi have seen the light. IA light that was made crystal clear by the herioc deeds of Hezbollah. May we ask Good for another miracle that allows you to see the light too?

if the same goes for all the arabs and syrians as well, then it would be a great peace treaty, meaning, arabs and syrians are also allowed to buy and build settlements anywhere in Israel, freely and without interference, etc...

may i remind you that this story originated in AN ARAB NEWS PAPER. and as we know, arabs and truth are an oxymoron. so, hold your horses. do you really believe israel will give syria the golan??? you must be nuts. it will never ever happen. bibi made no such comment at all. the arabs publish one lie after another. all it is is wishful thinking on the arab side. that is all. so, do not jump to conclusions here because you will have a major dissapointment, buddy. hameed aboughaze, iranian

40. #2 - Sorry to burst your bubble Lawrence
John ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.12.09)
Please wake up Lawrence, Golan is not Israel's to "give away". Bibi is simply coming to the realization that the world will not back Israel holding on to stolen land forever. Sorry to give you the news, but Israel will also shortly have to do the same with Palestine (don't mean to burst your bubble, but the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jer. don't belong to your country either)
41. This Is A Very Bad Idea And Here's Why
Not Jewish ,   USA   (11.12.09)
# 1 Golan has always belonged to Israel even when Syria was in possession of it. # 2 Golan is strategic to Israel's security. The Syrians have used this high ground to attack Israel from more than once. If Syria gets possession of Golan back, you can bet the same will happen again. # 3 Golan supplies a full one third of Israel's water. Salukia Springs, Baneris Springs, other vital springs & water sources are located in Golan. If Syria gets control of Golan, Syria will use this precious lifeblood of Israel as a choke hold weapon on the Jews. The Syrians have already tried to divert the Golan's water away from Israel in 1964 and they will try again. If Israel gives up Golan here are some of the results that will follow. Golan tourism will cease to be, Israel's Golan early warning radars will be gone, Massive water shortages in Israel resulting in severe human consumption curtailment, Jewish crop fields will turn to dust, Iran will gets a bird's eye advantage to rain rockets down on Israel. Are there any doubts or questions? N.J.

N.J., Lets say, just to be my own devils advocate, all your facts are true (except #1), SO WHAT. What your saying is, just because certain areas, such as Golan, are in Israel's best interest to keep that makes the theft all right? Yes, it may be in Israel's best interest not to give it back--but one can't take what is not theirs, even if it's in their best interest my friend.

Ohhhhh, G*d said so, I'm sorry why didn't you say that in the first place!? :) I'll end this "debate" here as I thought it was an actual discussion based on international law and political science, rather than someone's religious beliefs...

"This land is ours,G-d says so "???? When did God say so and how? Did he e mail you or did he send you the news by registered mail? Get real idiot, stick to being a rap artist and stop using God's name to justify your theft and criminal behaviour.

49. To #45--John
Not Jewish ,   USA   (11.12.09)
My # 1 reason as to why Israel should keep Golan is true and you are right about one thing. It is not right to steal, so the Syrians should pay rent to Israel for the time that they occupied Golan. Israel has fought the Syrians more than once over this soil, even as far back as the days of the first temple. King Ahab of Israel defeated Ben-Hadad I of Damascus over Golan. Israel fought the Romans over this soil and lost it in the year of our lord 67AD. There have been no less than twenty five ancient synagogues excavated in Golan. The Muslims that you imply owns Golan over ran the Jews in 636AD. The Jews re-established their presence in Golan 1886 but weren't there long before being ousted again. The Golan was briefly controlled by the Egyptians. The Syrians took control after the French mandate expired in 1944. The Syrians used Golan to shell the Jews during the 1948 war and killed 140 Jews between the years of 1948 to 1967. In 1967 the Jews got their Golan back. I am not a Jew but I believe that the Jews will never give up Golan. Why should they as Golan belongs to them. Which brings us back to my #1 reason as to why Israel should never give up Golan. Are you illuminated yet or do you need another history lesson?

"History Lesson", ha! Quick google and I find your "lesson" pretty much verbatim: http://www.fourwinds10.com/siterun_data/history/middle_east/news.php?q=1246304853 I'd be embarrassed...
51. Explaining to John #50

John you having trouble understanding the law, not only does Israel have legal claim to the Golan, they own it in a battle fair and square initiated by Syria...good lesson for any country wanting to attack Isreal
52. To #50 John--So Glad You Are Getting Some Needed Education
Not Jewish ,   USA   (11.13.09)
Whatever Golan history site or sites you googled share pretty much the same common knowledge. I am happy that you are educating yourself as that's what I did long before this date. John, If you are a Jew, you should be embarrassed by your own ignorance of Golan and the Jewish connection. If you are suggesting that I should be embarrassed by my knowledge of Jewish history, I am not. I started learning about the Jews just over the age of two at my mom's knee. I didn't stop there as I was fascinated by the Jew's historic struggle to survive against all odds. I must give my Christian mother the credit for stoking my interest, she taught me to love and respect the Jews. I was born the same year that Israel was being reborn and I feel that my destiny and Israel's is intertwined and I don't mean that in a prideful, vain manner. I suspect that you may be a self hating Jew. If you are, you really should be ashamed and repent because the Jews are to be admired and respected. N.J.

Who's law, may I ask? Please see UN Security Council Resolution 497: In part, Reaffirming that the acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible, in accordance with the United Nations Charter, the principles of international law, and relevant Security Council resolutions, 1. Decides that the Israeli decision to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights is NULL and VOID and without international legal effect; 2. Demands that Israel, the occupying Power, should rescind forthwith its decision; Also Resolution 425: 1b. Call upon Israel immediately to cease its military action...and WITHDRAW forthwith its forces from all Lebanese territory Last I checked Israel was a member state of the UN. Also, please note, I obviously understand that a majority of UN Resolutions are not followed through on by the respective member states but that does not make the resolution an less law...Please, there are many reasons for Israel to not want to withdraw from Golan but let's not confuse those reasons with the law
54. Damn you people believe arab propaganda before your own PM
seth ,   haifa israel   (11.13.09)
Bibi's office denied this. Al Arabiya is always having false reports. But that doesn't matter you people are willing to fall for arab propaganda. The arab propagandits don't like Bibi and are trying to hurt him politically and you people fell for it. A few more false stories like this and Bibi will be politically done and the arab propagandists will have won.
55. To # 53--John--The UN IS A Cesspool
Not Jewish ,   USA   (11.13.09)
You sure are brass faced, citing the self serving Muslim rules of the Islamic dominated UN. The only function now a days that I see the UN performing is to pass endless one sided resolutions against Israel. I have posted and blogged for years in US and Israeli media's that the UN should be closed as it is stinking up NYC. The UN excuses genocide in Sudan, human rights abuse in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Cuba, China, Gaza by Gazans, Syria, etc & then exclusively condemns Israel for defending herself against Arab/Persian/Muslim aggression. You reason like a moron with a vendetta against the Jews. Golan belongs to the Jews meathead and your arrogant opinion is just that, your arrogant opinion. Would you like to join the failures who have took on Israel. They haven't done so well!
