1. Tell him
Yehuda ,   Israel   (11.12.09)
to leave Israel. This is Jewish soil. He's got 22 choices of places he can cut down his own trees just like he did here.
2. #1 stupid racist rant, do you possess the title papers of
JayZ ,   Jerusalem   (11.12.09)
his land? Do you own it? Does any israeli own it? its his land left to him from his forefathers. On the other hand, none of the israelis on yitzhar have any proof they own the land they settled by force, so pack your stupid @$$ and leave to where you came from you racist sick person.
3. As an Israeli I I want this settler in jail, this is terribl
Jeff ,   Israel   (11.12.09)
I am so sorry to the man whose trees were cut down. I don't support the settldements, and I want this man arrested.
4. The usual incitement against "settlers" they are ISRAELIS
M   (11.12.09)
And you always believe what the Palestinians tell you, maybe it was the left trying to get new incitements against the right? It will not be the first time it happened, only the story with the pictures did not appear on YNET
5. Only the branches were cut! & there's more
PALLYWOOD   (11.12.09)
Olive tree branches should be cut off every few years as part of taking care of the tree after taking its olives. The palestinians do it but they use the event to blame the jews for cutting off their trees. as you can see in the picture, the trees were not cut off the root!
6. Olive trees
Alf   (11.12.09)
The thugs are at it again. they have destroyed any semblance of right to the land by their racist violent shameful treatment of innocent people. Og course they won't be found or punished and nobody knows who they are. And they don't want the settlers to be blamed. It must have been the self-hating left who did it and not the merciful tolerant Jewish rightist settlers. Evil, pure evil.
7. this is not acceptable
Fadi ,   Beirut   (11.12.09)
will see what type of deterrance against this criminal actions you have in your laws . the story is all over the news wire and everyone is watching
8. Has nothing to complain about
Mike ,   NY, USA   (11.12.09)
I think Ynet spends more time talking about the tree's life than dead settlers' lives. At least he's not murdered or shot while driving to his orchard.
9. Same pain the Jews felt, uprooted from their homes in Gaza
Yaniv ,   Israel   (11.12.09)
10. To: No. 2
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.12.09)
No, it is not his land. He is squatting on it. Moreover, it was a pretty barren and forlorn place when Israel defeated Jordan in 1967, as is well-documented. Sixty-year old olive trees? Not hardly. It is a lie that has been repeated so often, it's acquired a life of its own. But that does not make it the truth.
11. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.12.09)
Judea and Samaria were acquired by Israel in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan. In accordance with the Hague First and Second Conventions, the territory belongs to Israel, not some Arab squatters who are very generously allowed to remain there, as opposed to being repatriated to Jordan, country of their citizenship. Do not be so quick to condemn what you clearly neither know nor understand.
12. Hardly News
Lebanese ,   beirut, lebanon   (11.12.09)
I don't know how an article like this is considered to be news.. Settlers have uprooted ancient trees in all the land they ever set foot on.. The internet has been swarmed with images of this barbaric habit.. This is hardly a "behavior" issue.. this is part of a systemic policy dictated by a racist regime and aims ethnically cleansing vast areas of Occupied Palestine in the hopes that the original inhabitants of the land might let go of their struggle.. the only difference now is that there is more awareness and more coverage.. Israel can run.. but will never be able to hide from the international shift of opinion..
13. cutting down olive trees
Arn ,   Yehud   (11.12.09)
I'll say it this way... the West Bank was never Jordan's to give away in the first place. Jordan's Arab Legion armies grabbed it by force and it was never universally recognized as Jordanian territory. If only for this reason Israel's presence here is as legitimate as Jordan's was at the time . But cutting down those olive trees tells me that the those settlers have no "organic" bond or respect for this land - not for the territory but for the earth itself. This land is foreign to them. I can think of nothing now that may conceivably link those settlers to this land. For all their loud and aggressive praying they are without heart, without righteousness and without soul.
14. Yitzhak Shapira's settlement
Apa ,   NY   (11.12.09)
Yitzhak Shapira is the rabbi of the nearby settlement.
15. #1 #10
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.12.09)
I am a Jew and I do not hate myself, but I most certainly find both of you hateful and inhuman
16. What's That Sound?
Not Jewish ,   USA   (11.12.09)
Chainsaws! I hear there's lots of fertile soil in the pal's homeland of Jordan. The king and some more trees await the prodigals there. Bon Voyage!
17. #10 when jordan lost the war only authorities properties
JayZ ,   Jerusalem   (11.12.09)
can be transferred to israel, any land that belongs to a private owner, like the poor guy in this incident, remains his own. whether he planted the trees himself, his forefathers, or samson himself doesnt mean, that savages like these settlers are allowed to kill the trees. Show me any document that states the land was jordan's or palestinian's governmental land. Stop writing with the black heart you have, and start using your mental judgment.
18. #5 the AFP picture is taken last summer
JayZ ,   Jerusalem   (11.12.09)
stop allowing your hatred blind you
19. To: No. 17
Sarah B ,   New York / Saviyon   (11.12.09)
It was part of the Ottoman Empire -- well documented -- which came under the control of the British folliowing Turkey's loss in World War I. When the British made Feisal king of Iraq, Feisal's baby brother stamped his foot and said that he wanted to be a king, too. Thus was born the Kingdom of Transjordan. If you wish to question any nation's legitimacy, Jordan is a pretty good place to start.
20. 2 and 3 - I didn't see who did it but.......
Eliyahu ,   Yrushalayim   (11.12.09)
it "had" to be settler. You two would make a great jury. Umm the olive harvest wasn't so good and maybe make some money another way because all you have to do is cry settler. By the way, come up with a deed older than the Torah JayZ.
21. If the trees were cut down on July 22, how can they be 60
rebecca ,   modiin   (11.12.09)
Years old. And again Ynet has no colaboration, just an arab's story. We see this incitement all the time. With just the story of one Arab, it's nothing more than incitement.
22. Chopping down olive trees.
Yochanan ,   P.R. Calif.Yasur,IL   (11.12.09)
This is just another example of why young American Jews are turning away from supporting Israel.Israelis will continue to grab land, while saying it wants peace. We American Jews are seen as only political cash cows by Israelis.Well,we are more and more turning away from you.
23. #1 its no wonder you were curse throughout history
sami ,   son of palestine   (11.12.09)
24. It must be very difficult.....
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (11.12.09)
to continually deny the vile acts perpetrated by Israelis. Even when the truth lies right in front of you. According to most of the zionists in these talkbacks the act: 1) didn't happen; 2) did happen but was somehow excusable: or 3) doesn't matter because the Jewish 'settlers' have every right to destroy any 'Arabs' private property. Even when the evidence of this despicable act is reported, you would embrace these myths rather than face reality. According to this mindset, a Jew can do no wrong merely due to the fact that he is a Jew. Don't believe your lying eyes, believe that Jews can do no wrong. And when someone points out the facts, deny the facts and attack the messenger. Then whine when others point this out amd loudly proclaim your victimhood.
25. I am no rabbi but isn't it against jewish law to cut down
yael ,   tel aviv   (11.12.09)
fruit bearing trees??
26. #23 look who is cursed , your backward society .....
rachel ,   usa   (11.12.09)

28. Repeats of this article.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (11.12.09)
About once a week these "olive Tree" articles appear, and there is never any follow up reported.Does anybody investigate and report what happened ?How can we make proper talkbacks without some offocial facts concerning what happened.?
29. This lie works every time!
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.12.09)
Pally's prune back their own olive trees as part of the normal maintenance of olive groves, and then call the media and blame the "destruction" of their trees on "settlers"! This happens every year, conveniently just after harvest when trees are normally pruned. And the stupid people who read YNet buy this lie every single freaking time! I have seen pictures of olive groves with branches pruned exactly the same as in the photo, but these groves are in California, Portugal, Italy and Spain. You gonna blame "Jewish settlers" for that too?
30. #25 yes but...
Golan ,   Ashdod   (11.12.09)
it is forbidden to cut down trees when placing enemies under siege. But the cutting trees story is something Arabs have been doing to themselves and accusing the Jews of doing. So while it might be true I doubt it as I doubted the story about IDF soldiers farming organs during the last war and stories about us usig christian/Arab/Greek blood to make Zionist bread on Chanuka or passover or Id el fitr.
