Abbas says determined to advance unilateral moves     Ali Waked
1. Abbas doesnt make a very good poker player
He knows that he cannot physically get this state unilaterally. Israel won't hand over Jerusalem or move hundreds of thousands of settlers because the UN says so or because they have unilaterally declared statehood. Doing things unilaterally doesn't solve the bigger issues either. Refugees, water, security, travel between the 2 parts of their state It would be a car without an engine. The US have said they are against it The EU have said they are against it Israel has said its against it. All the countries that matter will not support it. Abbas has no plans of asking the UN to recognize a unilaterally declared state he is trying to bluff in the hope that suddenly Israel is going to start doing as he dictates. Also what happened to Abbas plans to resign it looks like now he is going to be staying. That was a bluff to try scare Israel into making concessions because their so called moderate president will resign and now he is bluffing again with all this talk of unilaterally declaring statehood.

2. Contrary to signed agreements; contrary to Arafat's written
promise to Rabin to avoid unilateral moves, the present Palestinian Arab leadership proceeds with such moves. If this is how this leadership treats written and signed agreements, why should we trust them with a territory that can threaten the very existence of Israel...??
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.17.09)
3. Why do they think it would work better for them this time?
Arafat unilaterally announced their state more than a decade ago, so far it has had no impact on them nor any improvement towards establishing a working state. Why would this time make a difference?

4. Annex the Jordan Valley, Call Up 500,000 Reservists
Look my fellow posters who love Israel (our spiritual homeland), or physical homeland), learn from this. The disengagments from Lebanon and the Strip, instead of bringing peace, brought Kassams, Grads, Fajrs, and Katys. 80,000 rockets (admitted) now in Hez possession and thousands of rockets, includng Grads and Fajrs in Hamas controlled Strip. Unless we are blind, it's obvious what is going on. Iran with nukes..Egypt/Jordan/Arabia with F16s, etc., missiles and missile ships, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, the Sudan, Libya..still opposed to a Jewish state..it's there for all to see. The UN won't agree, but if it does..IsraeL must ANNEX the Jordan Valley, stop all negotiations immediately and future talks, abort the Road Map and Annapolis, use it's might to consolidate East Jerusalem. It could: call up 500,000 reservists, take out Hamas/Hez infrastructures..carpet bomb south of the Litani R., AND Rafiah. Thats for starters. To Erekat/Abbas..you started this.

5. Abbas, as a people perpetuating an occupation...
... you only have one option- MOVE TO JORDAN.

6. Good point #2
Besides, what is his focus on PEACE? What connection isthere between declaring a state and peace. The opposite will be true.

7. comics
Look at Abbas and Erekat faces. Great for a comic book front cover.

8. Sign into law
Mr Netanyahu. sign a law that says that if the palestinians at any time declare a palestinian state, or participate or encourage or supports or approves etc of any violence, retroactively from today, we annex all Judea, samaria and Gaza etc, the peace process is null and void and that no further talks could be made by any Israeli government.

9. What's the solution
Sit down with the Israelis, take a deal that has been consistently offered to you and your people - ninety-plus percent of what you demand - take the world's overflowing money kerchunking its way into your coffers and build a nation and a thriving country. What can be simpler dude?

10. Abbas,so you will declare Jordan as your true country
Abbas and his gang., get ready to face King of Jordan army against your own people again. Good luck and get your gang out of our agenda. We are fed up with your people's hate, and fanatism. Leave us in peace, instead of pissing on us. Get your water, money, health care, security from your pals in Jordan, instead of getting it from us as of today. We are already living in peace with our arab citizens in Israel. We don't need you. If you want the very old formula of aggression, remember, we are here to stay, will be here in holy land forever, and we don't want to fight your fanatism anymore. We need to keep up with our scientific development, with our freedom of speech, for men, women, gays, lesbians, minorities, we can wear what we want. We don't need your radicalism. Good luck.

11. Abbas and his Islamist-Jihadists
pose a greater threat to Israel next to the Iran nuke threat. Israel must not allow these scoundrels to defy its laws, government and sovereignty. Should such a move be made by the Islamist-Jihadists in Southern Thailand and Southern Philippines, the governments of these countries would stamp them out immediately.

12. the meaning of peace
here's food for thought: what exactly does peace mean? we hear it all the time, peace peace peace. but over all these years did we ever dialogue on the basic question?? my point is that absence of major violence and disruption is peace, economic growth is peace. and that my friends is the story of west bank arabs today, which their so-called leaders want to throw to hell. the future of palestinian arabs is in jordan where they will realize their full political rights - and that by the way is a major concession, yes, for many who see jordan as including major parts of historic israel that was signed away by the british.

13. Please declare your "State" President Abbas
Then you will have to provide your people with electricity, gas, water and all the other infrastructure that an independent state must have. You will have to provide medical services and other social benefits for you people and of course jobs. When you proclaim you "State" there will be border control and Palestinians will have to pass through Passport Control and Customs as we all do when we visit a foreign country. Palestinians will be "foreign workers" and they will have to apply for work permits. I am sure that most Israelis would rather employ foreign workers from friendly countries and keep the terrorists out! So, PLEASE, declare your independence! By the way, are you going to be the President of Hamasstan as well?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (11.17.09)
14. Puzzle!!
So, Abbas will declare the state & Gaza-Hamas, some Arab countries, probably Iran & MOST of the world will not recognize it!! Wouldn't be this enough reason for the Israeli right to re-capture Gaza & stop negotiating with PLO? Very interesting!!
