1. The World must be De-Sensitised
stan ,   Johannesburg   (11.20.09)
The world must be de-sensitised to Jews building new homes in the promised land - just like the world managed to became de-sensitised to suicide bombings in Iraq where Sunnis and Shias were killing over 100 people a day. How - build more and more till no longer news.
2. i seek blasphemy ban OVER THIS OLD MAN ABBAS
BENJAMIN   (11.20.09)
BARGHOUTI WE GIVE HIM BISCUITS- COATED WITH BELGIUM CHOCOLATE :-)
3. Abbas is a Liar!
JAy3 ,   Israel   (11.20.09)
How will peace come if settlements are stopped? This liar is again just making excuses........until the PA Charter is changed, and these ARab terrorists are disarmed, i dont believe a word he says!
4. "resist"
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.20.09)
that's what the terrorists always say after a suicide bombing: "resistance by ALL means necessary". don't these people know that if they were to have a peaceful protest movement in the manner of what ghandi of india did, the world would fall over themselves to support them and israel would succumb to the pressure to do things israel doesn't want to do? but no worries. these are palestinians we're talking about, so there's no danger of that ever happening.
5. New blood libel
John ,   Europe   (11.20.09)
Before, if somebody wanted to smear you they would make blood libels, witch hunts, satan worshiping, or infidel-ity. Now, if you want to say somebody is a satanist, just say - HE NEGOTIATES WITH ISRAEL! NEGOTIATES! :)
6. The Road to Peace is long and winding but
RJBH ,   Methil   (11.20.09)
a Peace with no permanent solutions is no peace at all.. there is no 2 state solution that will please either Zionist or Palestinian..Theres only one solution..One State... with equal rights for all.. your cousins.. family... get along together or face eternal war.
7. They have never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.20.09)
for peace. Israel keeps inviting the PLO/PA to the negotiating table, but they insist: give us everything we demand before we even talk and only then shall we approach the table. Well, the world doesn't work this way!!! But this time too, as in 1920-21, in 1929, 1936-39, 1947-49, 1967, 2000-2008 they will end up paying for the violence and mass murder of Jews which they initiate and perpetuate!!!
8. Peaceful sort off: Igun, Stern & Haganah
(11.20.09)
9. Bilin Is Violence: Violence Will Mean Naqba
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (11.20.09)
We, as a country, cannot tolerate this. If they insist on violence- or even disruptions of our lives, we (the IDF) need to make their lives totally intolerable; 100 eyes for an eye or more. Either the Arabs live here in OUR land in peace, or they don't live here at all.
10. ISRAEL PLEASE ANNEX-
BEN ,   SINGAPORE   (11.20.09)
11. what has "reristance" given them for so many decades?
ravit ,   tivon, israel   (11.20.09)
nothing of course. but instead of cooperating with israel and try to reach an arrangement with which all could live, they insist, like paul anka who wrote "my way" for frank sinatra, "our way". that way has only brought distraction and death, so worshiped by them, in contrast with the sanctification of life by jews.
12. Why do they wear a dish towel on neck?
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (11.20.09)
Who are these people? Where did they come from? Why are we listening to them tell us how to live in our own land? They are ghost whispers in the wind nd do not exist.
13. "Settlements" vs. Peaceful Coexistence
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.20.09)
The "settlements" issue is, of course, only an attempt to divert attention from the core issue of the Arab Israeli conflict. The essence of the conflict is the total, consistent and persistent refusal of the Arabs, Palestinian and otherwise, to accept Israel's legitimacy and right to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people. None of the other issues are at the core, either, e.g. "borders and territory", "natural resources", "refugees" or even "Jerusalem". These issues were not there in 1947 when the UN voted to establish a "Jewish state" and an "Arab state" in the Land, Nevertheless, the Arabs rejected this UN resolution, 181, and instead initiated the 1947-1949 war whose goal was the annihilation of the tiny Jewish state just proclaimed. These issues were not there between the years 1948 and 1967 during which time the West Bank, eastern Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip were Jew-free, "cleansed" of all their Jewish residents by their Arab rulers. Yet, despite this reality the Arabs didn't even try to set up their independent state there, in the very same territory that they demand now. But of course, the Arabs did initiate the June 1967 Six-Day War against Israel hoping to accomplish what they couldn't accomplish in 1947-49: The total elimination of the UN member state of Israel and with it all elements of Jewish civilization of which Israel is its cradle. To begin to overcome the core of the conflict the Arab leadership, Palestinian and otherwise, should state clearly, in Arabic, their acceptance of Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people - and not only the fact that it exits. This acceptance would be of course based on the League of Nations decisions, 1922 and 1923, and the United Nations resolutions, 1947 and 1949, as well as the universally accepted right of all peoples to national self-determination and independence, including the Jewish people's. The Arab leadership would then need to back up its newly found conviction with a few simple deeds, actions that would demonstrate its change of heart, and a commitment that a peace agreement will be considered the "end of the conflict". This will bring with it a sea-change of attitude among Jews, within and without Israel, whose nation-state Israel is, ready to take additional risks to the ones already taken. The goal: the reaching of an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Arab and Jew, between Israel and its Arab neighbours, something Jews have been very eager to achieve since at least the later part of the 19th century, upon the commencement of the activity of the none-violent (not pacifist) national liberation movement of the Jewish people, Zionism. Will the Arabs do so, or will they rather attempt to divert attention from the core issue – at times with "settlements", at times with their terrorism or "popular resistance" - of the conflict, hoping to bide time and achieve their real long-term goal at some point in the future…??
14. Negotiate?
Haider ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (11.20.09)
Look who is talking. The poor man is becoming a joke. He has been negotiating with Israel from day one of his "presidency". Don´t get me wrong, Hamas leaders ore no better. Why don´t you people (Israelis and Palestinians) share the place. According to religious legends you are cousins. You are all Semites. The issue of Israel/Palestine is dividing the whole world. I don´t think that your God has any hand in that.
15. Yeah, and Abbas was supposed to be the "moderate"
Yaniv ,   Israel   (11.20.09)
16. MR. ABBAS ! YOU SOLD YOUR PEOPLE. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS...
... RESIGN PLEASE ,   atilla karagözoğlu   (11.20.09)
its late mr. abbas. no one believes you that you truly side with palestine . you are weak you are a sold one. DO I BLAME YOU ? NO. WHY ? BECAUSE YOUR EYES DONT GIVE THAT VISION OUT.
17. A different solution – Well-being instead politics.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (11.20.09)
Instead of counting the daily dead and injured Arab as a result of the terrorist war they declared on Israel and rivalry of their leaders, it would be wiser for the Arabs to abandon politics and terrorism, and search for a better future for themselves and their children, to choose well-being instead of politics and understand that a “Palestinian state” is not the solution to their misery. Huge amounts have already been paid by the international community in order to help these people but the only beneficiary were the Arab politiciens. Even if there will be a “Palestinian state” the conditions of the population will not improve. The solution to their misery is elsewere : they should think about emigrating, discretely, to other Arab countries before it is too late, (most of these countries are not very populated and can easily integrate them). That is the real solution as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi5c8
18. To: No. 14
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.20.09)
Halder, that is precisely what was intended from the start -- one a tiny Jewish state, the other a considerably larger Palestinian one. Understand that Judea and Samaria (West Bank) had no legal status once the British left in May 1948. The intent of the United Nations was to confer sovereignty on the areas which had been under British control. While Israel accepted the offer, the Palestinians did not and five Arab armies attacked the fledgling State of Israel one day after the declaration of statehood by Israel. The Arabs lost and Israel pretty much doubled in size. Jordan attempted to annex the West Bank in 1950, a move that was approved by only Great Britain and Pakistan. The Jordanians did, however, extend citizenship to West Bank Arabs. Come 1967, Jordan, which had de facto (though not de jure) control of the West Bank attacks Israel and promptly proceeds to lose all of the West Bank. Since the Palestinians rejected the partition plan while Israel accepted it, once Jordan lost its de facto control, non-sovereign West Bank passed to Israeli control. This is completely legal. So are the settlements. Can't erase sixty-one years of history, Halder. Sorry. The Palestinians are the architects of their misery. Three times, they have rejected a two-state solution (there won't be a fourth offer, by the way) and sixty-one years of unrelenting terror have not served the Palestinians in good stead. Israel will cease to be a Jewish state if it absorbs all the Palestinian people living on the West Bank. But Israel needs a rather wide buffer, and will not relinquish its de facto control of the West Bank. Eventually, the territory will be annexed, and the Palestinian Arabs will have to leave. The logical place for them to go is Jordan, which is over seventy-five percent Palestinian already. Obviously, the Palestinians will be compensated, but I cannot see any other workable alternative which does not entail substantial risk to Israel. Having won all the wars, Israel gets to set the terms and conditions. The moral of the story is, simply, do not go to war unless you are absolutely certain that you will win. And toothpaste cannot be put back in the tube. Yes, both Jews and Arabs are semitic peoples. That's a reason to share the place? I think not. Or -- simply put -- do YOU like all of your relatives? And I'm betting you haven't gone to war against your relatives six times, have you?
19. Sarah Shmarah
Nour ,   Palestine   (11.20.09)
"Eventually, the territory will be annexed, and the Palestinian Arabs will have to leave. " Over my dead body, and yours. Oh wait, you're hiding in New York claiming to be an Israel patriot. People like you have a place: in the word "coward" in the dictionary. And while I'm at it (since I'm hardly taking note of your copy/paste messages these days): You people have been trying to anhilate us since 1890s. But thankfully, you've failed. You'll also fail in all eternity. Come back to your senses and acknowledge us the natives of this place, descendants of the Samaritans, Arabs, Europeans and Africans. We're the proud Palestinian people - in your face.
20. The real solution.
David ,   USA, exile   (11.20.09)
I have read all of these talkbacks. Only one makes sense. Sarah B tells the truth. But even her truth misses the real solution. Not one talkback mentions the promise HaShem made to Avraham. That is the real solution but it will not happen until it is done His way. The secular government of Israel and the secular people of Israel need to tshuvah. When Israel cries out to HaShem they will be delivered. If they continue on the path they are taking they risk once again the Land throwing them out. Call me a religious fanatic if you wish but in the end you will find that it is truth I speak.
21. "We are the natives of this place... Smaritans, Arabs, ...
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.20.09)
Europeans and Africans". Indeed, descendants of these and other groups of conquerors or peoples moved into the area by conquerors. 1. Samaritans, were brought to the region by the Assyrians as part of their imperial policy of moving conquered peoples from one locations to another throughout the Near East. 2. Arabs, conquered the region when spreading their newly found "truth", Islam, in the 7th century. 3. Europeans, be they Romans/Byzantines, Crusaders or British, all conquerors. 4. Africans, brought to the region as slaves by the Ottoman Muslims. By contrast, the Jewish people is the only people that has survived as a single people for the past nearly 4,000 years whose members have never fully left the country and whose affinity to it has been uninterrupted for all these thousands of years. Thus, the question must be asked: Who are the real "native" people of Eretz Israel...??
22. 14 .. quite Correct.. they are Cousins... joined at the hip
RJBH ,   Methil   (11.20.09)
they best learn to live with each other.. and soon Hizbollah already has the measure of the IDF.... Hamas is the owner of Irans launching pad.
23. Haider #14
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.20.09)
The answer is right here: http://www.palestine-pmc.com/details.asp?cat=11&id=121 And here: http://www.mideastweb.org/hamas.htm I think that if you read these two charters you will not have any questions.
24. Can you Imagine, Natanyahu saying...
David ,   NY, USA   (11.20.09)
Can you Imagine, Natanyahu saying on BBC TV that all settlers should ressist any arabs, and they should rise against their Palastinian neighbors, like Hamas does to Israel !!... There would immediately, be acry from all world leaders, and Mr. UN Moon, would call an emergency security council session, all EU leaders, would treathen to recall their ambassodors, and there woudn't be the of it !!!! But when this excuse for a peace !!! partner says it, nobody dares to ask " and with this man you want me to make peace" ??
25. #21 and the answer is...<drums>...Palestinians
Nour ,   Palestine   (11.20.09)
Besides, what have the Jewish Ethiopians got to do with blond Polish people? The answer is illegal Zionism based on a bogus "Jewish link".
26. #19 Nour, stop the lies!
Jay3 ,   ISrael   (11.20.09)
We have not been trying to annihilate you since the 1890s as you claim.... Its you Arabs that have been trying to annihilate us Jews, and i can back up that claim by your PA Charter! You are not the natives of this land, not descendants of the Samaritans, Europeans or Africans and never considered yourselves Palestinian till after you lost the 67 war! You are not Palestinian, and used to call yourselves Southern Syrian. These are clear facts that can be backed up by any non Arabic history book! So stop the lies of Israeli aggression and an Arab Palestine.... respect and accept Israels right to exist.....or get the hell out of the Jewish homeland! Your choice....and over your dead body can be arranged, if thats what you choose!
27. #20 Truth...
Nour ,   Palestine   (11.20.09)
Your "truth" is as good as the creation myth of the African tribe... The truth is..you're really not that special. You've just been led to believe so by repeating and parotting your own myths since childhood. Now buz off, you bored me to death.
28. No courageous partner for peace
Len   (11.20.09)
Signing peace treaty with Israel is a death sentence for any Arab, leader unless that Arab can convince his people that the peace is only temporary and the war continues. This is the essence of the current dilemma. Every Arab leader knows this--even this old guy does not wish to die for peace. How do we change this?
29. # 19 Nour
Ginette Golden ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.20.09)
Sorry to burst your bubble but # 21 Eitan is right in his analysis. Obviously you are not educated enough on the subject and like most Arabs, you are driven by blind emotions rather than hard facts. This article make me smile because Abbas whom everyone remembers as the “mastermind” behind the Munich Olympic massacre, is finally showing his true colors and that’s great because this is another reason for him to lose ground. .. Abbas moderate? My foot!
30. Nour #27 the different
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.20.09)
Your creation story is 45 years old and ours is over 5,700 years old.
