The socalled "apartheid wall" keeps suicide bombers from our door and it works! The "wall" is a response to Palestinian depravity. As to the villages in Samaria and Judea (Westbank), you will notice that the significant majority of Arab and Jewish ones are built on hills and are connected by highways built by Israel. Furthermore, much of the livelihood for the Arab economy derives from construction projects within the Yishuvs (settlements) themselves. This was also the case before the intifada. If violence on the part of Palestinian Arabs breaks out again, then a significant portion of their (Arab) economy would be put at risk. A peaceful situation between these two elements, in my estimation, would require the development of a separate economic structure within the "Westbank Palestinian" jurisdiction. This needs to grow organically, not by the constant involvement of outside powers. In Gaza, this hasn't and won't occur because Hamas' main and primary intent is not to assist the people under its regime but to take complete control of all things "Palestinian" while damaging and destroying Israel. A Palestinian non-Hamas authority in Samaria and Judea, with the interests of its own people as a primary concern, might be effective in stimulating organic growth in the economy. As this occurs, if this occurs, Arabs and Jews will pull away from one another. Eventually, with separation (and I am dreaming here), the two could become trading partners and could actually assist one another, i.e., building a canal between the Kinnaret and the Dead Sea and competing over tourism.
