This is almost unthinkable. Our University really stands for religious tolerance, there is so much interachtion between students and teachers from all sectors and it is very sad if this regrettable incident spoils BGU´s image. I hope the student can forgive and forget.

People with different cultures can very well get to know each other, play and learn together. The more different, the better it is to get to know each other. We live in a mixed society, especially here in the South, so why shy away from it? Besides, last time I was in T.A. I was struck by the fact how homogenous (white) the population was. Not healthy to live in a bubble, if you ask me.

First I want to say that this is a very cowardly behavior by Perach. Why are they caving in for these bigots? The families who get a mentor for their kids are being done a FAVOR. They are in no condition to dictate to Perach anything! If you don't like the mentor, then fine - you get nothing. Also, this is not the first discrimination that I hear about in Perach. Apparently this program does allows female students to mentor everybody (boys and girls) but male students may only mentor boys, as if they pose some sort of danger to girls, and as if there are no incidents of boys being victims from perverts as well... Thus, not only is this assumption extremely insulting to male students, but it also opens fewer slots for them. I don't know if it's still like that now, but this was the policy when I was a student a few years ago.
