So far it has been touted that this 10 month freeze is in relation the 'WB only' and does not include East Jerusalem. Any freeze must include all illegal settlements, East Jerusalem included.

Before the Six Day War we had no settlements and there was war. The arabs don't want the Jews in Jerusalem Tel Aviv etc... This is a non-starter for both Hamas and the rising star in Fatah (Barghouti). 2) Already some rogue elements in the settler movement have threatened violence against the Israeli state and forces in the event this is implemented. 3) Even if Israel neutralized the 'settlers', it is HIGHLY improbable Israel would actually implement anything, owing the fanatical nature of the present govt. 4) The imminent political vacuum in Palestinian politics would not permit talks to resume, simply because Abbas has no mandate. In any case, he will resign as soon as Barghouti is released. The next elections in Northern Palestine / Gaza will not be held before June 2010, at the very earliest. 5) Even if talks are resumed, no real talks will be resumed, because Israel will drag feet about the borders of Palestine and will simply wait it out until the 10-month official period is over. Once that is achieved, Obama will become a lame-duck president and it's back to square zero. My bets are on unilateral actions. Watch the news on Nov. 29.
