1. The UN: A sewer full of muslim crap
Izzie irgun ,   zion   (12.01.09)
Ban Ki-Moon is about the most patethtic indvidiual on the planet, yes on the planet. The other scum like Chavez is honest and open about who he is, a tyrant and dictator. Same goes for the midget in Iran. But at the UN, its different. There, scum like Ban profess to be honest, fair minded and impartial but clearly they are not. Todays symapthy motion with the Palestinians is more proof of how he has betrayed the trust he has been given. This has gone on for so long that i say, who gives a crap any more. the UN can pass all themotions it wants and suck all the Muslim hinney it wants but it will not change the basic fact that Israel is a nuclear power and is going nowhere without taking alot of people with them. So let the Swedes and Moon and the other anti semites who profess their friendship for Israel go do what they want. So will Israel and we will see in the end who prevails. As I see it, Switzerland has outlawed minerts, France is outlawing Berquas, Germany is rejecting the face vail, slowly but surely euopean public opinion is shifting away from the arabs. And in short time Russia and China will start to see the radicalization of their muslim populations and they too will unite against the haters. In the meantime, let the UN and other syncophants pass all the muslim ass kissing amendments they want because sooner or later they will find out, Israel is their real friend and not a bunch of radical muslims who use their children to bomb railroad stations. Its a sick mentality that will come home to roost.
2. Why does Shalev sound like she is always
Eyal ,   USA   (12.01.09)
Begging the UN for something. She really looks like an old goat and should be replaced with a more firmer representative, like our last Embassador Dan Gillerman, who spoke out with firm statements.
3. Israel form a ONE WORLD organization- only democracies and
Jae ,   Lyn US   (12.01.09)
world powers allowed in. bye bye despots, bye bye dictators, bye bye tyrannies and mullahcrocys...
4. #2: You have it all wrong.
SETTHERECORDSTRAIGHT   (12.01.09)
Ms. Shalev is actually acting quite admirably and should be praised for her words. She is doing a great deal better than most in terms of standing up for Israel and SPEAKING THE TRUTH! Kol ha Kavod and G-d Bless you Ms. Shalev.
5. Legitimate nation-state?
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (12.02.09)
Zionist ambassador Gabriella Shalev refers to "Israel" as the "legitimate state of the Jewish people." But that is an oxymoron. Jewish/Hebrew sovereignty has been illegitimate since Roman legions conquered the last such entity and scattered its population as a secular manifestation of the Divine will. These were God's people who, regrettably, rejected the One Who came to lift their heavy mantle of sin, so they paid the price of losing their land, as they were warned in their own Bible. Thus, the Lord had to turn elsewhere, and He has so far not advised mankind in person that a Hebrew state would once more be legitimate. If and when He does, then and only then would I no longer have objections.
6. UN Doesn't Really Care About Pales. People
Christy ,   Boston, US   (12.02.09)
If the UN really cared about the Pales. people, they would have been denouncing the self-appointed Pales. leaders for using the Pales. as pawns for all these decades. Pawns to gain money and power for themselves, not for the people. From the time these self-appointed Pales. leaders, rejected the initial 2-state solution in 1947, to today there has been misery and grief for the Pales. people, thanks to their leaders. Their leaders rejected a good compromise deal at the beginning, led them into wars they couldn't win, and now takes money on their behalf. Think of all the $Billions that have been given to the Pales. leaders over the last 60+ years. How much of this money has actually benefited the Pales. people -vs- how much money has been kept by their leaders?!?!? The UN benefits by keeping the 'Plight of the Pales. People' as one of its pet causes because the UN is able to obtain lots of money & influence for this 'cause'. All I see is various key people getting money and power from the way the UN, and the world, have treated the Pales. and then blamed Israel when their people realized life was horrible. I don't see the ordinary Pales. people gaining anything because very little of the money seems to reach them. It's all skimmed off the top from the UN on down to their various 'leaders'. The UN and various Pales. 'leaders' have used Israel as a scapegoat to pacify the ordinary Pales. people when they realized their lives weren't getting any better no matter how much money had been donated to help them. This UN 'day of mourning for Palestinian people' is nothing but window-dressing to try and convince the world the UN really cares -- when it's evident they only care for the Pales. people as a way to get money and make themselves important.
7. #2 - what an idiodic statement....
Rich ,   Hod Hasharon   (12.02.09)
Shalev in an excellent ambassador who tells it like it is, forcefully and with dignity. And what is this "our last embassador" crap from the USA? Moron.
8. #5 - YNET please get rid of this anti-Jewish bullshit....
AJ ,   Washington, DC   (12.02.09)
9. #5 - Nobody here gives a sh...t about your objections....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (12.02.09)
idol worshiper. We worship G-d, not human beings.
10. This does not surprise me
Marlene N. ,   New York City   (12.02.09)
Anything that brings the plight of the Palestinian people into the public eye and what happened to them is unacceptable for Israel because it knows full well what it did to the Palestinians. Israel must always be represented to the world as the ultimate victim, even though it uprooted an entire population of people, and has been their oppressors. When it concerns Israel, truth is always stranger than fiction.

(12.02.09)
your objections???? who the hell are you to object to anything? you are a nothing but a devout jew hater, and from your many posts, not much intelligence as well. hameed aboughaze, iranian
12. #4 & #7
Eyal ,   USA   (12.02.09)
Sorry, I don't agree. Israel could have picked someone better. I will support her, but someone like Gillerman said it like it is. Even Pinchas is better then Shalev.
13. According to Israel, everything harmful to "peace"
Cathy ,   Canada   (12.02.09)
Anytime Israel doesn't like what any other country says about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it calls it "harmful to peace negotiations". What a joke! The only thing its harmful to is Israel's interest in ever-lasting negotiations and Israel's ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem and the West Bank.
14. Harming the Peace Process
Matt ,   US   (12.02.09)
According to Israel, anything that doesn't allow them to continue the occupation, build settlements and oppress the Palestinians is destructive to the peace process. In the words of Israel...let us have our way or agree with us 100% or you anti-semitic. Are you for real?!? Please come to your senses Israel!
15. looks like #5 hit a cord with some of you...
random ,   world   (12.02.09)
there must be some truth to that statment otherwise you all wouldn't protest so much! why is it anti-semitic or anti-jewish? why is anyone you disagrees with you people, about anything, is a jew hater? can't you just engage with someone in a debate or argument without stooping to judgemental slurs? It doesn't just happen in these posts, it happens everytime you disagree with a jewish person about anything, whether it be the conflict or randow events. Lighten up People!
16. why are you all attacking #5?
Alex H. ,   Salt Lake City, Utah   (12.02.09)
Right wing evangelicals are the last friends on earth that the jews have! if it were not for them, and others in the religious right of America, the US would not be the friend and ally to Israel that it is and has been. Instead of attacking him, you should respectful disagree and thank him for the support for the last six decades (even as misguided as it is)
17. Israel for Jews, "Islamic "countries"for Moslems
Hanna   (12.02.09)
18. To #10... you are forgetting the fact that...
Scott ,   NY, USA   (12.02.09)
That Israel has wanted peace since 1948, and it was the Arabs who wanted to "drive the Jews into the sea." When Jordan and Egypt had possession of the West Bank and Gaza respectively, they refused to give the people in these areas independence. The world seems to hold Israel to a higher standard than it does other countries which are in positions which are easier to live in.
19. Unfair and very racist
William ,   Israel   (12.02.09)
When will the UN present a solidarity day for other groups they consider oppressed? So far - no Solidarity Day for the Kurds, the Tibetans, the Darfurians, or the Basques. Infact, I don't even remember a Solidarity Day for the S. Africans who were under Apartheid. It was as one poster brilliantly cited - "The Palestinians already have a State, it's called the United Nations"
20. #10 if you want the "Pal" plight, let's be honest then
William ,   Israel   (12.02.09)
What Israel objects to the sanitizing of the Arabs' hands in the regional conflicts while laying the blame solely on Israel. It's not lie that the statements made at the UN is very subjective and non-complete, making it disingenuous. What Israel wants is objective honesty, not political posturing at the hands of the highest bidder. Your own post shows your blatant subjectivity and basic dishonesty - and if you must be dishonest in order to support the "palestinians" wouldn't that mean you need to seriously revisit your cause du jour? "It knows what it did to the palestinians" - Who? I don't know this group. Oh, you mean the group who took the name of "palestinians" despite being from different cultures and host countries? "uprooted an entire population" - tell that to the many Arabs who stayed in Israel to make a life for themselves, as opposed to those who ran at the behest of their Arab leaders who claimed "Jewish blood would run through the streets like a river" and they could return to take their wealth. "Truth is stranger than fiction" and yet truth can be revealed through facts - like the fact that most Arabs claiming to be "palesitnians" were illegal immigrants in the 1930s, or that the "rights" they demand today were rejected by them for 62 years when they thought they could destroy Israel. But your blindness in front of the facts does not surprise me.
21. Great how Israel manages to find such obnoxious speakers
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (12.02.09)
Ha ha - good thing Abba Eban isn't around any more; he would explode in disgust. Leave that woman there, she is perfect.
22. General Assembly resloutions like 181 are not binding
Yishai Cohen ,   Israel   (12.02.09)
The article claims that UNGAR 181 legitimized the partition, but in fact the UN General Assembly did not have such power and thus UNGAR 181 did nothing but make recommendations to the UN Security Council. Unfortunately the SC never voted on the resolution and its recommendations were never implemented, mostly due to the murder of the UN's envoy Count Folke Bernadotte by the Jewish group Lehi to prevent him from reporting his recommendations back to the UN Security Council. Had the envoy not been murdered and the UN allowed to complete its job, perhaps 60 years of war and strife could have been avoided.
23. Tough noogies Israel, Palestine will be born...
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.02.09)
...that is the significance of this day. Israel is "celebrating" but no one knows where its borders are because the state refuses to tell the world where they think they are. The sad fact is that Israel is acting as illegally today as it has for decades. Each and every colonist that Israel foists onto the occupied territories is a violation of international law. In the West Bank, even Israel's High Court has recognized it is held under "belligerent occupation" - there is simply no running from this anymore. The Internet made truth instantly available and Hasbarah simply cannot cover it all up anymore. When Palestine is declared and the Palestinians are finally assured their natural rights to self-determination, rights that Israel takes for granted for itself but denies the Palestinians, then there will no longer be any need for sorrow, both sides will have something to celebrate.
24. Marlene P, #10
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (12.02.09)
Rejoice Marlene! In spite of invasions and expulsions by world empires such as Rome, Byzantinum, Arabia, and the Ottomans, the tiny Jewish People (the indigenous people of 'Palestine') have returned to their ancestral home!
25. A Call to Action
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (12.02.09)
The U.N. has fallen into the sewer as did its predecessor the League of Nations. I am going to write all of my representatives in the U.S. and urge them to withdraw the U.S. from he U.N. I will also urge that a new organization of free nations be formed in its place. Who will join me? Don't just complain about the injustice, do something about it!
26. #5
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (12.02.09)
If you are truly a Christian than you must accept the Old Testament prophesies that clearly state that the people of Israel will return to their land in triumph.
27. #10
Softwalker ,   Canada   (12.02.09)
What would you know about plight? Any historical account worth its salt would tell you that what befell the Palestinian Arabs was a DIRECT consequence of their rejection of the partition plan. Not only did they reject the 2-state solution, they even rejected the 1-state solution. What they wanted was an Islamic Arab state. Perhaps you only read the accounts that omit key facts like the one above.
28. UN is garbage, don't waste your breath talking to garbage
usa   (12.02.09)
Look what this Navi Palay or whatever her name is, telling the swiss about their minarets ban.
29. If put through a ringer, the truth couldn't be squeesed
Charles ,   Los Angeles   (12.02.09)
out of the Jews commenting on this article. I've come to the conclusion that pro-Israeli Jews, from the very top to the very least, are incapable of any kind of objectivity when arguing about their conflict with the Arabs. You guys, as a nation are becoming psychotic, you know, mentally unreal. Your true concern shouldn't world anti-antisemitism, it should be about how you are going about destroying yourselves.
30. I fail to understand why Israel keep membership in this club
Yoav ,   New York   (12.02.09)
The UN has proven itself to be bias, unilateral and and borderline criminal. While they are proved to be total lame-ducks and useless in the field, (Aside for assisting Iranian-backed Lebanese terrorists that is). The only thing they do well is resorting to replace actions with "diplomacy" of pouring more fuel into the fire that is the Middle East. So what if the Jews burn? It's a time-honored European tradition, and Allah's wish, right? But what I really fail to understand is why Israel needs to pay dues to this idiotic organization and be a part of it. that's like an African American paying dues to the Ku Klux Klan
