1. Israel shares your confusion
israel   (12.03.09)
We also can't understand why he was let go - a free man. It's sickening that he was allowed to live.
2. demjanjuk
debbie ,   israel   (12.03.09)
HE WAS RELEASED because Israel must always prove beyond a shadow that Israel is more democratic than the most democratic country.
3. A desperate court action by a desperate Prosecution
RJBH ,   Methil   (12.03.09)
This poor man.. (he may well be a victim of mistaken identity) was a Red army soldier before he himself was taken prisoner by the Germans .. Millions of USSR POW were either starved beaten or worked to death.. some were allowed to live if they volunteered to work for the Nazis. Who amongst you would throw away a chance to live even if it was not your true intension to cause suffering to others? Daniel Finklestein wrote a very thought provoking piece in yesterdays.."The Times" I invite all who may be interested in the fate of Demjanjuk to read. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/daniel_finkelstein/article6939751.ece 'Never, ever, believe that Demjanjuk is a 'Victim'.
4. Israel Did Not Convict Him Because...
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (12.03.09)
we have a judicial system which is not based on Torah morality. Our courts comprise judges who do not have the same sense of judgment as our traditional Sages. They more readily look at what prevailing Gentile attitudes are than the Torah attitudes. They also have no courage.
5. Another correction

Rudolph Hoess was not just 'an Auschwitz commander', he was the camp's first commander, who built it into the death camp that we know today, Auschwitz-Birkenau, who commanded it for 3 1/2 years ( 1940-december 1943 ) , and who because of his expertise was called back in May 1944 to oversee and lead the murder of 430,000 Hungarian Jews in a couple of months.
6. Demjanjuk is a despicable human being
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (12.03.09)
As a death camp guard at Sorbibor he forced thousands of Jews including children into gas chambers. In 2009 he now puts on a good acting job and the world's media falls for the act. The German court needs to catch him on hidden cameras showing him walking around and joking with his lawyers and family.
7. The problem was that he was charged with being...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.03.09)
...Ivan the Terrible. Witnesses said he murdered Jews, but was not Ivan the Terrible. Proving that he was a murdered was not enough. It had to be proven that he was Ivan.
8. Demjanjuk

This sick piece of garbage will continue to haunt every decent living being. I too, believe in following the law, but this is beyond the law. Like when he was in Israel he fakes bad health looking for sympathy--there are no words disgusting enough to describe this filth. This is one time in my life that I believe a vigilante sniper would be the best option--Gd forgive me.
9. Demjanjuk
Tim Barber ,   Wales, UK   (12.03.09)
I am Jewish, I had family who died at Treblinka, Sobibor and Birknau. Hang him!!!
10. Unfair trials
Marilyn ,   USA   (12.04.09)
I wrote a lengthy discourse on the ethics of these trials. In short the ideas that the ends will justify the means is not right. People just get a mess at the end, not some wonderful ending. It is just not possible for justice to come out of injustice.
