1. Now where did I hear....
Paul ,   Florida   (12.09.09)
that Israel no longer occupied the West Bank and Gaza? Oh well, just more of the Big Lie I guess.
2. BE HAPPY UR NOT IN PRISON PUNK
KACH 613 ,   Judah, Israel   (12.09.09)
Becahus thats where she should be she broke the law!!!
3. Azzam "leaving Gaza once and for all". Nothing new.
rnshwa00 ,   Washington, DC USA   (12.09.09)
The untold story of the last 20 years has been Arab emigration from the West Bank and Gaza. That phenomenon isn't reflected in "official" Palestinian population figures which remain artificially inflated to both garner more international aid and promote the alleged "demographic threat" to Israel. The best thing that could happen is for those Palestinians unable to accept an Israel in their midst to voluntarily relocate to other Arab states. They are your "brothers", are they not?
4. Decision
(12.09.09)
I understand that is an administrativ decision, but it's shameful to prevent a non-violent (for once) young arab to finish her degree in an arab university, moreover when it is 3 credits away. It's stupid! Justice is not only something related to what is fair or not but also with what is common sens or not!
5. not surprising
observer ,   tel aviv   (12.09.09)
One should not be surprised reading this decision. In a country which controls the life of several million citizens of an other country it is genereal to hear such decisions.....and they say that they are not occupiers.....joke..:(
6. She resided illegally in WB
Inyaki ,   Bilbao   (12.09.09)
The court must obbey the existing law, the desicion to reject her petition was obvious. This is not an issue whether she has the right to study there or not. Moreover she tried to fiddle the system- therefore the outcome. When there will be peace and Israel & the palestinians would sign an agreement- then the people like her would be able to study in WB.
7. #2 She is Palestinian, may live/school anywhere in Palestine
Bozo! ,   Nour-Palestine   (12.09.09)
8. biased? So let the other students in, too.
Noa ,   Israel   (12.09.09)
What is the point here? Students with clean slates should be allowed to go to UNiversity. We can afford it.
9. #7 have you been sleeipng since 1948
KACH 613 ,   Judah, Israel   (12.09.09)
There is no such country!! There was a place called Palestine but that was before 1948 it was British occupied Eretz Yisrael. But there is a country that has a population 70% of so called Palestinians & that is Jordon, but this story happened in Eretz Yisrael so I don’t know what you are referring to.
10. Strange. Gaza have best universitys.
Rehavam ,   Israel   (12.09.09)
Why not finish there? and why Gazans wage WAR and want safe passage over enemy territory at the same time???
11. Unbiased in stupidity
(12.09.09)
12. it is sad but it is the law
zionist forever   (12.09.09)
The law said she had no right to reside in Judea & Samaria but she stayed illegally. I do feel sorry for her but If we bend the law for her because she wants to finish her degree when do we say no and say its not fair to you but the law is the law. Laws apply to everybody not just people who dont think they have a good enough reason to break it.
13. I bet Palestinians didn't have a say in that law
(12.09.09)
Just another joke of an apartheid regime.
14. impossible to support israel.
very sad ,   lisbon,portugal   (12.09.09)
how can people in the world support israel ,if the jewish state make such cruel rullings. Israeli blame they are the victims of arab intransigence and extremism..., but they are no innocent fellows, either. I was a israeli backer untill operation cast lead. Now I dont care anymore about the country. Israel no better than backward arab countries
15. To number 9
Maria ,   Arab   (12.10.09)
You guys try pathetically to change what have really happened. It is PALESTINE !!!! And I guess you're the one who've been sleeping in 2006 when HIZBUALLAH kicked your asses!!!!
16. #9
jb   (12.10.09)
Hahahah good one!! Thanks for the laugh and a half. Do you know what difference is between so-called Palestinians and everybody else Palestinians believe their own BS. When they are defeated, its a victory; when their leaders steal there money and use it to murder Jews, its Allah's will. When they don't get their own way, they whine, kick and scream, threaten just like little children! And these people deserve a state? They have 2 states already...a state of stupidity and a state of denial.
17. #14
jb   (12.10.09)
Thanks for the heads up, Porkycheese! If you're that stupid to base your life on Hamas propaganga, who cares what you think! You can take your port and shove it you know where. What a dolt!
18. #1 - in your dreams, Israel only left Gaza fully
William ,   Israel   (12.10.09)
But let's keep your horrible bias aside for a second....being from Florida you can no doubt understand what happens to people who lie to authorities and reside illegally somewhere. Until a final agreement is made, Israel reserves both the moral right and legal obligation to administer the West Bank. Azzam lies to authorities. But the bigger question is this - if she is a student, why does she not have student identification? She gave nothing for the judges to go on and they clearly were looking for a loophole.
19. "A clear violation of their rights" - Gisha
William ,   Israel   (12.10.09)
Perhaps. But it was also a clear violation of the rights of doctors and other patients in Israeli hospitals when "palestinians" lie about needing medical treatment in order to launch an attack. It's also a clear violation to other people when a student pretends to travel for studies only to join radical groups and carry out attacks. It's a clear violation of employers and other workers when a "palestinian" pretends to want to work just to feed their family only to attack his boss or other employees. It's a Leftist knee-jerk reaction to call for the rights of the "oppressed" but ignore the rights of those that will be violated in return. Let "pals" be honest for once. Let a child be just a child, let a woman be just a woman, let a student just be a student, and let a patient be JUST a patient....and not fodder for a racist terrorist war.
20. #5 - observer - it's not another country
William ,   Israel   (12.10.09)
and "palestinians" are not a unique population or race. Not matter how you cut it, it's just not true. However, consider who is really the occupier here. "Palestinians" have controlled the lives of Israelis for years, through fear, manipulation, violence, and kidnapping. It was only 10 years ago that Azzam would have been able to drive herself from Gaza to Bethlehem without a problem. But her leaders chose a different path, and made even the most innocent which the IDF never considered suspects into suspects...all for the glory of Jihad. This is the result we see today. Tough luck.
21. #15 - Maria - I wish Hizbullah many more "victories"
William ,   Israel   (12.10.09)
I can hear crickets coming from S. Lebanon but no Shiite terrorists. Thank G-d they "kicked our asses" By the way - Kach is right - there was no country called Palestine, only a region, much like the Levant or Alsace in France. Now Kurdistan or Basque or Tibet - THOSE are countries that are occupied.
22. #13 - Let them make peace and they can make all laws
William ,   Israel   (12.10.09)
until then, the territory is disputed and Israel legally is the administrator until such time. Call it whatever you wish - the bottom line is Israel is perfectly legit in this ruling. As I said to another TB'er - 10 years ago, Azzam would have been able to drive herself to Bethlehem daily without a problem. Their leaders decided murdering civilians was more fun. And they targeted ONLY Israeli Jews - how's that for Apartheid, huh?
23. It's easy to fix - online or correspondance
William ,   Israel   (12.10.09)
She's not the first in the world to pursue a degree from a remote location. Infact, it's the hottest thing right now for busy professionals. Gaza has Internet (atleast they did before Hamas cracked down on everyone). Tape the courses or stream them live. She has the books. She can mail or e-mail the assignments. Most schools also partner with local schools to administer tests. Does she want to finish her studies or do the "pals" want another "woe until me" story.
24. to #1 lol to go from Gaza to the west bank
ghostq   (12.10.09)

challenging, informative and intelligent comments.

¿Where did you take from that basque is an occupied country
28. To: No. 1
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.10.09)
She overstayed a short-term travel visa. That means she broke the law. She transited through Israel under false pretenses, with a deliberate intent to deceive. The United States deports people for far less, and you know it. Had she but once tried to legitimize her status, her story might have a happier ending. As it is, she gets to go live in the new Islamic paradise of Gaza, ruled by an organization (Hamas) that was voted in power by Gazans. Granted, it is a shame that Hamas uses the copious amounts of cash foreign aid to purchase weapons and to line their own pockets, but -- hey -- how is that Israel's fault? Of course, it goes without saying that Hamas is not terribly interested in the welfare of the ordinary Palestinians, otherwise they would have renounced violence, recognized the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland and repudiated their charter calling for the destruction of the "Zionist entity" and the extermination of the Jewish people. In such a scenario, the billions received by Hamas would have gone to build hospitals, universities and to attract foreign investment to help build Gaza's economy. But it is what it is. The Gazans have sown the wind. They lose the right to complain when the time comes to reap the whirlwind. Let the unhappy Gazans -- the polls say that at least 50% of the population want to leave -- take matters into their own hands. Either demand of the Hamas "leadership" that they act like responsible leaders, or develop a better leadership. Israel is not at fault here. This is a situation entirely of Palestinian making, and they must bear the consequences. They have their autonomy and they have the leadership they voted for. Just once, it would be nice to see Palestinians blame themselves for something for which they are responsible, and not Israel or the Jews or the clear blue sky. Just once.

Paul ,   Florida   (12.11.09)
"Had she but once tried to legitimize her status, her story might have a happier ending." Do not lie to the world, Sarah B. American of convenience. She is a palestinian, she cannot legitimize anything. To be denied free movement between Gaza and the West Bank is the real crime. Israel's inhabitants have learned all too well at their master's feet. A concentration camp is a concentration camp.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.11.09)
Probably from the same place that so many people acquired the erroneous notion that Palestine is an occupied country. Talk about taking terrorist propaganda as fact .... Basque was never a country; Palestine was never a country. Of course, Spain never fought six wars against the Basque, but they have been combatting ETA terror for a very long time -- much the way Israel has had to combat Arab terror on a global scale for over sixty-one years. Funny, though, how most Spaniards don't realize it.
