Prizes for Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Medicine are for *substantive*, peer-validated contributions, only after time has past and those contributions are fully appreciated.
The Peace Prize is awarded by a group selected by a handful of Norwegian politicians to promote the favored policy de jour. The Prize lost its cache after Le Duc To and Henry Kissinger received the prize while they were still at war with each other. Why any still give it significance with the UN, Sadat, Arafat and El Baradei counted among its recipients is the real mystery.
