4. Thats not right
aiman ,   jersey   (12.14.09)
This should be condemed by everybody. no reason for this disrespect
5. And all those Israel-haters tell us to get back to Europe...
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (12.14.09)
The blatant antisemitism shown in this video nullifies the popular argument by Israel-haters, that we should get back to Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Poland and other antisemitic countries we fled from. This video serves as an excellent proof that our home is right here in the Jewish state of Israel.
6. Marco-I see U understand why Jews need Israel and cant go
Alan ,   SA   (12.14.09)
back to Europe or Arab Countries . Nice to see you understand that being Jewish has drawbacks.
7. #5 100% (more even!)
Shvil   (12.14.09)
8. #5, no such thing
soludo   (12.14.09)
as Jews going "BACK" to Europe. We are not Europeans. We can only go BACK to one place--Israel, including the Arab-occupied Judea and Samaria.
9. Moldovia is infact, the poorest nation in Europe.
Brian ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.14.09)
The situation there has never been good and is only getting worse and worse, so as always they will hate Jews, instead of blaming their leaders or themselves, what else is new under the sun. The tried and true European way, when things go bad, blame the Jews and Roma. Jews can leave for Israel, and should, the Roma are not so fortunate, going from one country to the next, the Jews in Europe need to come to Israel, even the Jewish populations of France and GB are in great danger these days, and not at all completely due to Arabs as many in Europe like to claim, that is complete b.s., antisemitism was always strong there long before the large amount of Arabs arrived. It's very strong in the US too, anyone who says otherwise is also full of it. More than half the Jewish population of the world is in the diaspora, if they would return home, than both their problems and Israels would be solved quite easily.
10. Pull out and come back home to Israel
Roland Seener ,   London England   (12.14.09)
11. Lol..What ever happened to the alleged...
Arash ,   Tehran-Iran   (12.14.09)
Jewish-Christian bonds?? Face it..antisemitism is on the rise through out the world(also confirmed by your own media),and the CHOSEN PEOPLE some how have a hard time living anywhere except for the occupied territories. Wonder were hashem is on this one. On vacation?just like ww2?LOL
12. Strange -
Konrad ,   Warsaw   (12.14.09)
But I couldn't see any "smashing" of the menorah? Have I missed something?
13. to #1
Lior ,   Israel   (12.14.09)
Your premise "come home to Israel" is completely wrong. NO JEW should be chased from where they live. To be driven out is not our destiny even though it is our HISTORY. To drive a Jew out is evil. A Jew has the right to live wherever they choose. Furthermore, to tell them to come here emboldens almost an entire world who hates us; who wishes to drive us out while at the same time despising, boycotting and divesting from the place we run to. We must first fight those who threaten us and then leave only upon going elsewhere is of our making!
14. #2 So hateful
MIke ,   Israel   (12.14.09)
It's one thing to be angry at the Israel government; it's completely another thing to be snide and sarcastic at such a public display of religious hatred as what happened in Moldova Did the Israeli's have anything to do with what happened in Maldova? Did the jews in Moldova upset you in any way? Marco, your comment only proves your anti-semitism. I hate to throw this term around, but it's so painfully obvious. Had this been a story of a Jewish child having cancer what would you say then? I can only imagine. Your mom must be proud!
15. Brave Vandals Would Have Demolished A Mosque
FL ,   Denmark   (12.14.09)
Cowards! If these vandals were really brave they would have attacked a mosque.
16. Only the nutty Jews live in Moldova..we left that dump 35
Leave that dump now ,   Dont live in Moldova   (12.14.09)
years ago.
17. Again a religion that hates !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.14.09)
or at least , some of it's members
18. Journalism?
dave ,   Tel Aviv   (12.14.09)
Once again a questionable piece of journalism. The gathering looks more like an extreme faction of the orthodox church, not 70% of the moldovians anyway. Also the megaphone gives away that this lot has ideas to spread in a demonstrative manner. In the video there is no visula proof of what the subject of the article is about. Despicable what happened there but Ynet turns it around and makes its readers who read twice suspicious. Biased journalism! Please fire some people and get objective reporters in who give air to facts not subjective jimbo. You are underestimating us.
19. This is why there should be NO RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS in public
SAY ,   USA   (12.14.09)
places. Why do they need to put a menorah or a cross anywhere but in their own homes or houses of worship? It almost always causes these problems. The government of Moldova should remove the cross immediately. Better yet, send some Macabees to do it.
20. #11 Let's see how "LOL" you'll be when the "chosen
(12.14.09)
people" from Israel send the IAF to take out ur nuke sights.
21. What do you expect from them?
Efroim G ,   Baltimore   (12.14.09)
Moldova is not part of Europe as far as I am concerned. Those "Eastern Europeans" are the worst anti-semites and always supported the nazis.
22. #12: Still Beginning of Open Anitsemitism
emanon ,   USA   (12.14.09)
True, nothing was smashed, on camera, but the menorah was nonetheless dismantled under the leadership of an alleged religious leader. This all begs the question: Why was the menorah molested in the first place? No matter what you did not see, it still smacks of spreading hate against Jews.
23. to marco and 11
Barney ,   USA   (12.14.09)
Marco, everyone knows what a Jew hater you are so why are you so obsessed to read Jewish news? Most people avoid that which they hate. Only a warped mind seeks what they hate. #11 I am afraid that in some areas anti-semitism is on the rise. This is nothing new. Jews have lived with this for centuries. We prosper and contribute to the world and will continue to do so much to your chagrin. What is new is the new hatred for islam and arab and persian fanatics who like blowing themselves up. sending their own children to blow themselves up,crashing planes etc. only contribution to the modern world is real estate with oil and terrorism. I hear many "moderate" people speaking against the arabs and iranians now as the fantatics have managed to typecast the whole population as a bunch of radical terrorists. So do get too comfy
24. And what might this remind the court Yehudi Metzger of?
Kerwood Derby ,   Frostbite Falls, MN   (12.14.09)
Instead of the kashering of a blemish on eretz Yisroel reminding the Jew expulsion ambivalent R. Metzger of Kristallnacht, perhaps he would have some statements of truth regarding the repetition of these acts today that echo DIRECTLY on the history of Kishinev and how Yehudi are not only still treated similarly today as they were when Jabotinsky witnessed them in 1903, but yea are treated similarly in eretz Yisroel by those who act as if they were raised by gentiles and lead a state voted in by the majority yet act against same by disavowing their mandate and thus disenfranchising the electorate, committing a putsch.
25. Jews Come to Israel
Daniela ,   Tel Aviv   (12.14.09)
Come to Israel, this is your land, we will all live here, together and UNITED. We will get stronger and stronger. The world hate us and Israel is the only place we have!!!
26. public menora destruction
Issy Hass ,   Ra'anana-Israel   (12.14.09)
sir-it is an image of the Natzi picture all over again .This is nothing to brinfg the hatred of the church tiwards yhe jewish people
27. Trouble in Moldova
Yakov   (12.14.09)
That's so sad to see these days. There is still no word from the Orthodox Church condemning it. In spite of what has happened through history over there, they still have not learned what this kind of hatred can bring about. That this has happened with no response is a clear signal for Jews to leave that country. I heard not too long ago they had problems in the Dneistr River area-which is not under control of Moldova. It's bad news to hear it has spread to Moldova.
28. Horriffic
Noor ,   Palestine   (12.14.09)
Anyone with a developed conscious for humanity should be expressing the highest voice of condemnation towards such an action. Leave Mosques alone. Leave Synagogues, Menorahs and other Jewish symbols alone. Leave Crosses and other Christian symbols alone. Leave Hindu and Buddhist symbols alone. Leave anything alone that is considered "holy" by some particular group. Thank you
29. Chisinau=Kishinev
Shmulik ,   Baltimore, USA   (12.14.09)
Readers should know that this was the site of the infamous Kishinev pogrom of 1903. Moldova has a long history of anti-Semitism, so lucky it seems it was just the Menorah that was targeted this time.
30. Moldovans Should Be Ashamed
Common Sense   (12.14.09)
Anti-Semitism has been on the rise in Europe, Jews in France are no longer required by the Rabbinate to wear kippas for fear of their safety and now this. A simple menorah is not safe in the capital of Moldova. The Russian Orthodox Church must come out with a public statement condoning the priest's incitement of everyday people to do an Anti-Semitic action reminiscent of the Pogroms in Russia.
