Christian, dear, airport security in Israel is about the best there is. Following September 11, most American airports adopted a modified Israeli model. But you have nothing to fear -- by the time you are ready to claim your baggage at the carousel, it will have been sniffed by dogs trained to detect explosives and drugs, it will have been x-rayed and, quite possibly opened and hand-searched. Don't lock your luggage. Please don't feel that your privacy has been invaded. Your safety -- and that of others -- is paramount. I very strongly recommend that you fly El Al. Questionable luggage never gets on the plane (nor does its owner), and once your luggage has been cleared by El Al security at the airport from which you will be departing, you'll clear arrivals in Israel much more quickly.

I just saw this video interview of Sussman on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihXtbB-4GWw

Christian, if the security officials tell you "to depart from your luggaage" you do it. (you listen to them) Good luck on your travels !!

66. To: No. 65

Oh, please. China is vying with Iran for the dubious title of world's most executing country. And you call Israel "sick and ugly?" Give us all a break. Stop the executions, and maybe we'll have something to discuss. Unless and until -- go away, you murderous thugs! Here's a lovely new theory for China to consider: trial. Wow! What a concept!
67. #65 Cautious
Ron ,   US   (12.17.09)
Israel has ample experience dealing with human bombs. This ditzy woman as seen in the video would have alarmed any border guard.
68. #9, the article is not clear enough
IS   (12.17.09)
Its hard to understand from the article what happened, its not written well. Knowing the Israeli security procedures, the laptop was probably left inside the bag - unattended in the middle of the border crossing - maybe because of some misunderstanding between the passenger and the security, or between of misunderstanding between the security guards.
69. she did NOT leave it unattended
David Appletree ,   NYC, NY, USA   (12.20.09)
they took it form her.. and this is not procedure. procedure would be to stand away from her and ask her to turn it on.. they also cud have asked her to pull out the battery, cd drive, hard drive, etc.. and the stickers are stickers to show you where letters are on a keyboard when the original keys have only english. Just like when someone puts hebrew stickers on their keyboard to know where hebrew letters are when they are typing in hebrew and a sapper wouldn't shoot a laptop, unless he knew it wasn't dangerous and just wanted to destroy it for malicious reasons
70. she is talking about stickers on keyboard letters for typing
David Appletree ,   NYC, NY, USA   (12.20.09)
there are sets of stickers for keyboards in Hebrew and Arabic and many languages people put on their keyboards when the keyboard has only english letters to show where the letters are when they are typing in Hebrew/arabic
71. Ban her from Israel!
Jenny Vanderblade ,   Los Angeles, USA   (12.28.09)
This lady is obviously on a warpath against Israel... why let her in? Would she make such accusations against the US if they blew up her laptop? How about Egypt? The IDF obviously thought she was suspicious... time to get a new laptop.
