Many Ultra Orthadox complain about prejudice toward them, it goes both ways, while living in NJ I went to meet with Chabad to see what their view on things was and to just meet with a different Jewish community, they were the most welcoming people I have ever met. When I lived in Greenpoint Brooklyn, I walked over to my neighboring community in Williamsburg, which is Ultra Orthodox, to just do some shopping and maybe make some friends but was met by anger, and evil looks. On an El Al flight I was in a seat near an Orthodox woman, who at first told me I was not Jewish, after hours and hours of conversation about our lives and my Aliyah, she changed her mind and decided I was very, very Jewish, and more knowledgeable about our religion and history than her. Turned out all she really knew about was wigs and clothes, she told me that it was not her fault, Jewish education was mostly for the men.
