mohson   (12.17.09)
It will be a good day when yaalon replaces barak who has done his duty and should retire as he has maxed out. Yaalon was the one who defeated west bank terror for which mofaz, a lousy general, got the credit. iran should be real nervous when yaalon and peled take over. Vilnai shoiuld be retained as he is an excellent general.
2. he only just noticed?
Danny   (12.17.09)
This has been going on since at least the 70s
3. I NEER SEE ISRAELI POLITICIANS TALK ABOUT THE 'GD OF ISRAEL'

5. They've Been Doing it for Decades
Christy ,   Boston, US   (12.17.09)
Propaganda has been used by them against Israel since Israel was reborn. It's a steady drip-drip of propaganda to a tsunami of propaganda, depending on what's happening. Been going on for decades, especially in colleges and universities. It's hard to perceive as propaganda until you've been exposed to it for a while and until you start questioning and researching the truth for yourself. I think the Internet has helped to counter the propaganda flow, and dig out the truth, because it's much easier to fact check these days.
6. here is a different view point
publius ,   USofA   (12.17.09)
what if the plan was not to defeat the IDF on the field battle but only to seed the reach and power of propaganda for future confentation. This seems to be more correct statement of this article's view point given the way Hamas is playing its hand of late.
7. Israel cannot explain away the indefensible...
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.17.09)
...there's no diplomat in the world that can sell the idea of shooting innocent civilians carrying white flags and calling that "self-defense" - there seems to be an hysterical denial among Israelis that you can explain away all these things. You will NEVER convince civilised nations that is "self-defense" to lay a years long siege against a civilian people in an attempt to wrest a political victory over them. In fact, as Richard Goldstone pointed out, in Israel's case it is quite possibly a crime against humanity, one that is ongoing even as I write this. Forcing most Gazans to subsist on about a dollar a day is sub-human, and it is the occupier responsibility to feed and take care of the civilian population it occupies for the duration of the occupation. There simply is no "propaganda" campaign except for the one coming out of Israel's Foreign Ministry. If and when Israel faces the facts about its creation, and the violence that the rampant colonialism has caused and ending it, then and only then can Israel assume a place among civilized nations.
8. Israel's backfire policy
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.17.09)
Since jumping on board the peace train and going out of the way for peace Israel has sunk into a deep hole. Instead of embracing Israel for all the sacrifice and goodwill for peace the world has made it their chief punching bag. It's past time to rethink the Israeli policy of capitulation and appeasement which has had the opposite of the intended results. Time to throw off the policy of weakness and stand for what is right instead of trying to please the forces of evil. You win at war but you lose at peace ,and you are losing.
9. Israel should stop allowing NATO generals from visiting to
Alan ,   SA   (12.17.09)
gain any advice or expertise on the War against the global jihad . I think 5 NATO Chiefs have been in touch with Gen Ashkenazi either in Israel or abroad in last month or so! Most UK troops are killed by IEDs .... WHY should Israel help UK to overcome this IED killer while our leaders are threatened worse than Mugabe or Pol Pot types. It disgusts me! Why was General Jock Stirrup, the UK Chief of Staff, entertained a couple of months ago with music at the Kirya . He should have been entertained at a Pizza Saloon by a major with an I Pod! Why are UK Bomb disposal personel getting benefit of the IED disposal unit of Tsahal.Let them pull their own chestnuts out the fire as long as they threaten Israel Military with Hague like those Yugoslav types! .
10. "Israel hasn't done enough diplomatically"
Sayid ,   Sweden   (12.17.09)
Israel controls the entire American government!
11. And we need a global satellite television
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (12.17.09)
station, professionally produced and managed, to tell Israel's story to the world including our current, day-to-day life, our successes and our insecurities, about our history, locales and interesting people, our ethnic groups and, finally, our politics. In this way, were the story told in a multi-language setting, in Hebrew, English, French, Russian, Spanish and Arabic, we would gain a sure voice in the international community. Instead, the government has attempt to set up international advocacy committees (individuals) to combat what is said about us and how this is being negatively presented, mainly for on-line purposes. Although this attempt is important, it doesn't do the full job. As a result, the Arabs have lost the military war and so far the terrorist wars of aggression against Israel but are winning the propaganda battles. One may look no further than the Talkback sections of Haaretz, JPost and this esteemed journal, YNET, to see how professional Israel bashers have misused the democratic processes to infiltrate our Talkbacks and to steal our time and energy while we attempt to discuss matters of importance to diaspora Jews and Israelis. Some of these, I suspect, are paid propagandists and others are obsessive anti-semites. Allowing these people and organizations so much time and space is really debilitating to the state, especially when one considers how few Jews there are to defend ourselves. While the media (including YNET) needs to change its approach, there also needs to be a focussed effort to set up something polished and interesting which will reach the international community. So far, those who have attempted to interest the government and Jewish philanthropists have failed although they have made serious attempts. I would really endorse any MK who would lead us towards a more positive presentation in the international community.
12. This is soooo TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

14. One of the major causes of Israel's difficult position in...
Ron B. ,   Lod   (12.17.09)
One of the major causes of Israel's difficult position in world public opinion. Spoken Arabic is replete with exaggeration, verbal pathos, and the frequent use of high-flown phrases. This approach contrasts completely with the language of understatement in Western culture. This linguistic contrast contributes to a major problem of communication between members of the two different cultural spheres. What happens in an encounter between Arab culture's language of overstatement and Western culture's language of understatement? This is one of the major causes of Israel's difficult position in world public opinion which believes the Arab culture of exaggeration reflects an actual reality. But the main reason for our failure is that Israel has abandoned the hasbara [public relations] front. Shimon Peres said after Oslo that hasbara is no longer necessary in Europe... in order to understand the absolute truth : http://xrl.us/bjdxh
15. More BS from Mr BSNEWS, what a load of crap!
DANNY ,   America   (12.17.09)
yeah the Hamash*les said it, so it must be true. Oh but the UN reported it, it has to be true. Hey I heard they selling some really good beach front property down in SC, not swamp, really... Why would I lie? What are you 12 years old?
16. Nepotism and Corruption in Israeli FM
nadav ,   tel aviv   (12.17.09)
After rubbing elbows with Israeli foreign ministry personnel and staff in Moscow, London, NY, Paris, Berlin etc... I can honestly say that many of the people at these Consulates and embassies were appointed to their positions because of who they know or who their fathers were. The foreign Ministry is run by a "old boys club" of rich kids from northern Tel Aviv!! Also, almost nothing has been done in the past 10-20 years to recruit Diaspora Jews or new immigrants who speak French, English, Spanish, Portuguese etc or at least educate native Israelis in those key languages/cultures so they can speak to people in their own languages. Also, not since ABBA Eban have we had a "career diplomat" who truly understood the issues, spoke the language, and cared about Israel more than his political career! Israel needs to overhaul its entire FM in order to combat a threat even more grave than Qassams and Katyushas- the Arabs/Muslims' sustained grass roots campaign to de-legitimize and destroy Israel!

19. CIVILIAN KILLINGS DONT NEED ANY PROPAGANDA
Atilla Karagözoğlu   (12.17.09)
killing is killing as long as we see, we hear about WE ( WORLD PEOPLE ) ARE NOT STUPIDS, WE ARE NOT IDIOTS. yes. hamas works so carefull on its deaths by israel. OF COURSE THIS HURTS OUR SOULS MUCH, BUT DEAD IS DEAD WE MUST SEE WHATS GOING ON IN WORLD. ISRAEL CAN ALSO MAKE PR ON ITS DEATHS. but no PR changes the fact that KILLING HUMAN IS BAD. AND NO WAY TO TAKE THEM BACK. *** news medias must be objective no matter what !
20. It's not Propaganda, it's called Arab Fantasy

and embarrassed of their Judaism. That's why they are frowned upon by the goyim worldwide.
22. # 11 Global sattelite television
Sagi   (12.17.09)
This is a very urgent and long overdue issue. We have lots of tycoons and billionaires. They should be summoned by Mr. Peres an "persuaded" to act upon this immediately. The Government's contribution and share in the company should be free use of a State owned sattelite. Israel is known for dragging her feet when it comes to the public use of ready available technology. Another suggestion would be to engage NY's Jewish community in the project, small change for them to purchase a sattelite from Boeing and send it as a gift. Inventiveness and ingenuity are our fortes but sometimes we show a lack of these qualities.
23. BBS NEWS, Charlotte, NC - # 7
Jojo ,   Prt Wash NY   (12.17.09)
I am dismayed but not too surprised that Ynet has consented in printing your warped view of Israel's " raison d'etre ". In addition, you seem to forget that millions of Americans are " forced " to subsist on less than a dollar a day. As you say so eloquently, " no propaganda campaign " except the one coming out the US Govt. And to you Sayid, # 10,the muslim ' par excellence ", you are so right ; Israel hasn't done enough Diplomatically. It doesn't control Sweden .......... YET ! signed: still an American
24. #7
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (12.17.09)
So according to your logic the USA is also founded on colonialism and violence and therefore illegitimate. What are you going to write about that? That's what you are inferring about Israel, right? In fact, it's quite easy with hindsight, BSNews, to try and de-legitimize past actions through the cycles of political correctness and fashion. Have not the Jewish people ancient ties to Israel? Yes! Could you compare this bond to the Pilgrim Fathers' connection with the New World? The answer is No! Did the League of Nations vote for a Jewish homeland? Yes! We are not the violent and backward ones.... unless one is a revisionist, like yourself. http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ai=214&ar=1050wmv&ak=nul
25. # 7 Carolina moon keep shining
Sagi   (12.17.09)
shining on the one that you adore. I do not wish to be abusive Sir, but you are either very very hateful towards Israel and Jews, which is a perfectly logical explanation and your prerogative if you so feel, or you are very very misinformed and have been lapping up the Arab propaganda. There never has been and never will be an instance of an Israeli soldier killing an innocent citizen holding a white flag. It is simply not possible, it is not only not our style but it is a dangerous thing to do because if reported by a fellow soldier, and believe me this would happen, the soldier in question would sit in jail for a long time. If "innocent civilians" are killed it is collateral damage and believe me it is difficult to find a civilian in Gaza who is "innocent". I have told you before to check out historical facts about this conflict and once you become convinced that they indeed are facts and not fabrications you will change your attitude, unless of course you have a deep rooted hate. When I say facts I mean recorded facts. Recorded in the annals of legal recognized international forums or institutions, and at the same time brush up slightly on international law. Gaza is not occupied territory nor is it disputed territory and it follows from this that all that transpires therein is in the hands of the indigenous population. In simple English a man's destiny is in the palm of his hand. They choose to live in poverty and they choose to elect leaders who know only the path of terror. Believe me, I know Gaza inside out and they have a choice, they could easily become "Dubai" if they so desired, with or without the assistance of Israel. They have a thirty mile long golden beach with blue skies above and palm trees galore. They can grow anything they desire, they do not have attitude or mentality to go with this. It is their choice.
26. Hey B.S. since when is
Mike M. ,   Seattle Wa. USA   (12.17.09)
America a civilized nation?
27. to #7 than hpw you explain Hamas
ghostq   (12.17.09)
used UN ambulanses for drive and shoote as escape cars, I saw it in very real video, what excuse you got for that. Richared Goldston admited his report is not based on evidences, so it's not a final court desition, but his own humble opinion, in real criminal cases with out evidences there is no trile and there wasn't cause no evidences what he stated was unprophetional personal opinion whice legal wise don't worth the paper it's printed on, and nobody force Gazans the path they chose to live with Israel is their own fault, they will never take responsibility on their own actions, and that is their main problem, their grim situation is their fault alon, cause Israel doesn't have to provide them with emploiment they r not Israel citizense they got Hamas let Hamas take care of them, and Israel don't have to let in her terirory people who might hurt her population and that is from past experience and not from over night revilation.
28. olmert's map
mohson   (12.17.09)
olmert's map is sacriligious. To offer such a map confirms the known fact that olmert was a military ignoramus and a spoiled kid. He knew nothing of bargaining in the real world of arabs as he was frightened. livni shoiuld have quit his cabinet with such an offer. He like beilin was begging for peace... please stop ... I can't take it anymore. Israel has come through so much in 60 years to give it all away because this moron was trying to curry favor with judges benish and others to stay out of jail where he rightly belongs with risbi and zaken. What a rotten louse!
29. Yaalon's mistake
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.17.09)
Since the 1993 Oslo accord, Israel has become more isolated, more internally divided, controls less territory and reduced its demands. Netanyahu is starting negotiations from a place that is more Leftist than Yossi Sarid in 1993. In contrast, the Arabs control more territory, have more international acceptance and have only increased their demands. Israel gained nothing from the Lebanon II rout except a stronger Hezbolla that officially rules Lebanon under protection of UN forces. The only result of Cast Lead was strengthening Hamas rule in Gaza while Leftist leaders Livni and Barak are wanted war criminals. What exactly does Yaalon mean when he says the Arabs have lost a war.
30. #29-He means Arabs under occupation.
