I think she needs therapy and help not jail. Jail will not do anything to fix the problem. It also cannot deter other ppl from doing this since the only people who woudl do such a thing are sick and emotionally disturbed people who wont be stopped by a potential jail sentence. The truth is that we all have some emotional problems and we are meant to work on them. If we cannot do it alone we should seek guidance. This in no way justifies the sick act she did its just sad that society doesnt address the real issues of our day and instead throws it away in jail.
