1. :: Settling a ‘score’
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (12.26.09)
<[...]we have the responsibility to act against whoever executed the attack and settle the score with them> “Settle the *score* with them” no talk of ‘justice’ or ‘due law’ only ‘settling the score’. Clearly the IDF had no intention of bring these people to a court of law. It is a truly sad day when a supposed ‘democracy’ resorts to a primitive mentality where the rule of law is ignored in favor of lawless revenge.
2. How can you praise PA? IDF caught them, not PA
David ,   Boston, USA   (12.26.09)
If the PA had done their job they would have been incarcerated or dead by the PA police, not requiring IDF to go in after the murderers. PA didnt do its job. That much is clear. Blame PA for escalating and not preventing. They are acting against peace, not for it. Do you job under the road map!
3. Abbas spot them, Israel kills
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (12.26.09)
4. To #1, Matty
Howard ,   US   (12.26.09)
Matty, before resorting to idiotic expressions like "supposed democracy", "law is ignored", etc., TRY READING THE ARTICLE. It's incredible what you can learn if you open up your mind slightly and allow some facts to enter.
5. Bibi's Answer to HAMAS
meir elazar   (12.26.09)
If you think that kidnapping our soldiers will free hundreds of terrorist prisoners then we must kill the terrorists and not take prisoners. Operation Cast Lead under incompetent Olmert was a joke compared to what Bibi would do in the next Gaza operation if Qassams continue.
6. This is EXACTLY what many of the Shalit swap will do after
Alan ,   SA   (12.26.09)
7. fear is good
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.26.09)
Better that the jihadists live in fear and terror than the innocent civilians they prey upon. Keep up the good work IDF The enemy has had a small degree of deterrence reborn in their miserable lives today. Much more is needed until they are broken and on the run. Maybe they can meet up at Matty's hose for cookies and milk while they hide under his bed.
8. Not why, but why not?
Bob ,   Mechburg USA   (12.26.09)
You know, really, unless the IDF could get information from them that would overshadow justice, the question should not be if they all needed to be killed, but why shouldn't they all have been killed?
9. Two to tango ya know. Where's the other one?
Bob ,   Mechburg USA   (12.26.09)
Answer to #1: Both sides would have to believe in the equal justice system to have that work. I do not believe the "settling the score" call is all that wrong either. However, the alternative is to have them convicted if guilty, sit in an Israeli jail until some knucklehead gives him and 999 more of his buddies up for some poor soldier that got himself abducted. Why not give up and in five years get off with murder. I believe this is the beginning of a new Israeli policy of settling the score "legally." MORE POWER TO YOU IDF!
10. wow
Mary Beth   (12.26.09)
Idf is impressive. Gotta love them!! Way to go Israel!! We luv ya!
11. To David ,Boston USA ..isn't it funny?
James ,   ISRAEL   (12.26.09)
Here the IDF does the job, instead of Abbas who's boss it was the Al-Aksa-Martyr-brigade who were the perpetrators and "he the Boss of them"Sits back and enjoy the IDF carrying what he as the Fatah leader should have done.. The article is too stupid for words.praising PA while IDF caught them. Wonder if Ynet is getting too leftists and the result shows. Anyway,Kol Hakavod IDF. More to come,by this mission to rescue Gilad in the same manner one hopes.Yes,they can.
12. fear is good by Marcel, Florida..A???
Kate ,   ISRAEL   (12.26.09)
A good one Marcel thanks.I usually miss reading your posts, but this time I tried and glad I did. No reflection on you, just laziness on my part. Liked the last paragraph to Matty, very appropos. I will end it by:Kudos to our valiant IDF.May they go from strength,to strengh. They sure need our approbation. Marcel in hopes you are a Christian? I wish you a happy Xmas & and peaceful New Year for 2010...
13. Are you surprised?
Eren Dogan ,   Bosian   (12.26.09)
This is the most moral army in the world and this is the only democracy in the region! Do you remember What İsraelis said yesterday :"The difference between us and them is that we are human beings." http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3825118,00.html
14. Matty, clearly you are a naive who has
dis   (12.26.09)
no inkling about what goes on around here. Clearly, these Pali/Hamas terrorists had no intention of asking the murdered rabi any question, only murder him for the sake of death-mongering. It is truly sad, just to use your tinkery-dinkery language, when a genuine democracy like Israel has been constantly attacked and wronged by the likes of terrorists you want to bring to civilized courts. What for? To laugh their heads off at you?
15. How can you tell a Jew hater who writes
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (12.26.09)
in the guise of an interested observer? Take the case of "Matty Groves", a frequent commentator on Isaraeli affairs in Ynet: In his talkback on the killing of three murderers, he describes Israel's actions as revenge motivated ("settling the score") and refuses to recognize and declare the facts as written that the IDF forces tried to take these men alive. The article actually spent a good deal of time of this subject. So it was "Matty Groves'" intention to cast Israel in the worst light possible by simply denying the facts as published. This is one means of deception utilized by the (unsophisticated) Jew hater. A second means is to turn the spotlight on the act of the victim (Israel, in this case) as opposed to the perpetrator, the Palestinian terrorists. In other words, a just act of attempting to capture the perpetrator of a crime has become twisted into an unjust one and the murderers (Palestinian gunmen) become objects of implied sympathy. In this way, by deliberately twisting the circumstances, Israel's actions will always be seen as unjustified in the eyes of Jew haters such as "Matty Groves". A third clue, as evidenced by "Matty Groves", is the fact that neither in this comment nor in any of his other comments does he ever show any sympathy for the true victim of an event, in this case a beloved rabbi, the father of seven and an Israeli civilian. Look carefully at "Matty's" comments, you will never read where he writes on the Gilad Shalit affair and the injustice of his not being allowed a Red Cross visit. Look carefully, you will never find "Matty Groves" commenting on the recent event of two (Jewish) youngsters pelted by rocks thrown by Palestinian teenagers causing a serious concussion to one (still hospitalized). In all "Matty's" various comments, there is no sympathy shown to any of the severe injuries to Israeli civilians caused by Palestinian Arabs. In fact, there is a lockstep and predictive quality to "Matty Groves'" consistent commentary in which he always, without failure, demonizes Israel. This is another characteristic of Jew haters' which often show up on Talkbacks. A fourth, and less evident but nonetheless compelling characteristic of this type of individual is the lack of firsthand knowledge of the actual situation in the region. It is always more complex than people like "Matty Groves" are capable of understanding. Therefore, their commentary is nearly always. at best, just two dimensional. The socio-historical context, in this case, the relationship between Arab and Jew, is always overlooked because the commentator lacks both the intelligence and the familiarity to comprehend this. What I have written here also applies, more or less, to other frequent commentators on Ynet including Michael Hess of BBS News, Shlomo Kamra, Noor and Dr. Ben Alofs who, when not applying his craft in North Wales, spends physician time in Gaza City. The latter is representative of a more sophisticated case of Jew hatred and deserves a study all of his own. In closing, I would like to thank "Matty Groves" for all the opportunities to "study" him that he has given me and, as a result, for allowing me to make the four generalizations (above) about how to identify Jew haters through their commentary on Talkbacks. "Matty", you've proved to be productive though not in a way, I'm sure, that you've ever meant it to be.

Bravo Robert for taking Matty apart inch by inch. I commend you on a perfect post.
17. # 13
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.26.09)
The son of the murdered man meant , we the settlers wont seek revenge, not we the IDF. No 16 year old civilian man can speak for the IDF.

LOL @ "maybe they can hide under Matty's bed"

Brilliantly perceived....Ata Gadol!
20. jew killers must be liquidated without apology
bernard ross ,   st anns bay, jamaica   (12.26.09)
These incidents should be used to liquidate the many more terrorists in waiting. Israel should return to the policy of returning 10 for one.
21. Israeli Government Propaganda
winter ,   auburn,Wa   (12.26.09)
Why is the Israeli government lying to protect the PA ? How is it that shin bet had better intelligence of the location of the killers than the on location Palestinian security which blankets the West Bank ? Why is the IDF and Israeli government pushing the propaganda, lie that the Palestinian Authority did a good job when the fact is that they had no intention of arresting the real killers ? They arrested 150 of the wrong suspects in the wrong city . The IDF gave them 24 hours and this is why the IDF had to do what the Palestinians refused to do as required by signed peace agreement.
22. Peculiar PA Behavior
Cynthia ,   USA   (12.26.09)
On the one hand the PA appears to assist Israel in locating the murderers of Rabbi Hai. On the other hand, the three were Fatah members. Were they attempting to sabotage Abbas or were their acts government sanctioned to demonstrate Fatah hasn't abandoned the armed struggle? This follows Abbas' meeting with Chavez on 11/27/09 in Venezuela immediately following Ahmadinejad's visit. During this meeting, Abbas apparently signed various agreements and I can't help wonder if one of the agreements was to continue terror attacks against Israel in exchange for financial and political support.
23. The PLO was so impressive the IDF had to do the job themselv
Ken H.   (12.27.09)
what is this political correctness gone mad, to give arms to terrorists re-baptizing them as "security" personnel, then praise them after they pretend to find terrorists? have you all gone mad?
24. Extra judicial revenge killings/cold blooded murder
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor   (12.27.09)
Eye witness reports published by Maan News Agency illustrate that there was no exchange of gunfire. Two of the three men were killed in the presence of family, execution style, as they were giving themselves up. There was no attempt at arrest, no evidence that they had a direct association with the murder of the Jewish colonist. These were cold blooded murders, just as cold blooded as the murder of the Jewish colonists some days ago. This is the behaviour of a failing state, which despises its own rule of law.

easy fro you siting far away to try and teach others. remind you the case of the assasin of police officers in the state of Washington or Oregon. when he refused to surrender they "settled the score"
26. Matty, open your eyes
Gil ,   Florida   (12.27.09)
justice can mean settling a score, as well as law and order. The term includes the other. Secondly, what would you have them do? endanger the lives of drafted men by entering a room occupied by an Islamic fundamentalist, or do you not believe they are suicidal-murderers? Gee, I wonder if you served..
27. #15 Robert!! gadol!!
Gil ,   Fl   (12.27.09)
Wow. What a fine analysis! Could not of done better.
28. Robert in Asdod@ 15*** Well dear friend >>>
Kate ,   ISRAEL   (12.27.09)
You've said it all long tough your post wasit merits approbation for the effort you put in your response versus the Jew/Israeli hater par excelence. We should be accustomed by now of his one sided vile comments and perhaps let him stew and ignore forthwith. If no one replies then he will disappear because he will be talking to ihimself.Such are attention seakers.Away with him. Not saying I do not approve of your effort of course,it must be pointed out for some others who may indulge in the same vein and know they'd be chastized for the ignorance they show. G*D bless and keep you.
