31. #1, they are self-admitted combatants, not criminals

and therefore IDF has every right to kill enemy combatants. They didn't steal a car or rob a bank, they liquidated in cold blood an innocent father of seven who's only 'crime ' was driving on a road as a Jews. Palis got exactly what they deserved...death at the hand of the military. SHOULD BE NEW COUNTER-TERROR DOCTRINE: You kill Jews, we dont' wait to kill you.
32. the way to prevent kidnappings

If we have no prisoners then there are no demands to free prisoners. The only way to fight them is to eliminate them on the spot, saves us money that it costs to house feed entertain educate them etc. A few bullets are cheaper and more effective, this way they can't return to terrorism
33. Re: Killing

I am an ex-soldier of the Golani 12 Brigade, in which I served 3 years between 2005-2008 seeing action in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank. I state this to attest to both the legitimacy of my response and that of my background. Lest some overzealous right wing commentator presume I am an anti-Israel Jew Hater I ask, what have you done? As far as this mission goes, having been on actual combat duty I can speak volumes to the high level of mission detail that occurs when the order arrives to capture someone of value. In the case where all methods to extract the figure fail, lethal force perhaps employed. This is not the reason I feel compelled to answer this article. More so, I find the extreme right wing commentary supporting death over capture to be counterproductive at best and revolting at its core. More so, the commentary of certain writers meant to intimidate and cast the term Jew-Hater to those that don't belief that "settling the score" is a commendable course of action is reprehensible. I find it interesting as mentioned that certain people who have never stood in uniform, shed blood, or seen comrades die in their arms talk so freely about how a military should behave. Arm-chair warriors lack both the knowledge or the experience to truly examine issues of military ethics and meaningfully contribute to any discussion. Killing these terrorists is a necessary burden that unfortunately falls on the shoulders of the IDF. However to claim that settling the score is necessary is a repugnant argument and must not be supported. As Jews, (not the extremist monkey's trying to bring Taliban rule to Jerusalem) we must ideally demonstrate our higher morality and civility. Regardless of whether one is a bank robber or an arch terrorist, the objective must be to bring those to justice. While it is frustrating to see these terrorist released to the streets due to failed negotiations, that does in no way mean that killing without justice should be employed. The defense of this tactic and abuse of the army for these extremist goals makes us no better than the enemy. Furthermore the support of this tactic by misplaced diaspora Zionists is not productive.

Ron B. ,   Lod   (12.27.09)
Making the I.D.F. a credible deterrent once again was a national imperative. When Israel integrated its Jewish identity into its national life, it easily defined its enemies, all its enemies, and restored the spirit of the I.D.F and its deterrence. Now that we can have confidence in the IDF once again, real independence will be much more than a slogan. Independence is not created by poses and declarations, but by military power, economic prowess and national determination. Some details about the I. D. F . at : http://xrl.us/oq28g
