1. Religion the root of all evil
Avi ,   Israel   (01.07.10)
More people have died in the name of religion than any disease known to man kind. belive what i do or we will kill you, is the message.
2. Fools
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (01.07.10)
They stay there because of a few meager possesions when they know that their coreligionists will help them. The Satmars are influencing them to stay.
3. Stupid
Jew ,   Israel   (01.07.10)
This reminds me of Jews in Europe who refused to leave when they could have still gotten out.

dorothy friend ,   Tel Aviv   (01.07.10)
Well, at least some of them make it to Brooklyn or Monsey.
6. #1 Avi Communism led to more than 100.000.000 dead
Trumpeldor ,   eurabieh   (01.07.10)
Be a little more cautious in your anti religious discourse
7. Yemenite Jews
NYC Girl   (01.07.10)
Damned Satmars. If they're bribing these Yeminite Jews to remain in Yemen as a means of keeping them away from Israel, they'll be complicit in any murders that take place in the Jewish community if things get any worse. And, having said that, after what history has taught us, these people are foolish for staying and risking their lives out of fear of losing their money or their property. Not only that, but Israel is a country full of refugees from all over the world, many of whom left much more behind than probably most of the Jews in Yemen own because it's such a poor country. My husband's family fled Iraq around the time of World War II, and they were forced to leave behind homes and business worth huge sums of money. But they saw the writing on the wall, even at that time, and while they never became as wealthy in Israel as they had been in Iraq, at least they didn't have to worry about losing their lives at the business end of a noose...like some of their co-religionists did. So while I recognize that probably most of the Jews in Yemen don't necessarily come with the same level of education and sophistication that many of the other Jews from Arab countries did, they're still better off in Israel than in a country that could turn on them at any time.
8. go back to school trumpeldor
professor ,   europa   (01.07.10)
death by religion is far higher than your little number you just wrote there. i suggest you return to the books and re-check your knowledge, which is very much flawed. cheers
9. Come little Yemenite people! Talula LOVES you!
Talula ,   Israel   (01.07.10)
Even though those Yemenites are religious - I'll make an exception - I just love those people!!!
10. is #1 grow up avi. #9 talula you naughty
gal1 ,   israel   (01.07.10)
girl , i had no idea you was racist. we don't need your exception thanx, we have G-d. They don't wanna come home because the last time a great majority came out here they we're treated like s$%^, and so they went back to teman. because of racist israelies like you and avi.
11. #4 atilla, to answer your questions....
gal1 ,   israel   (01.07.10)
1. yes we are real jews. 2. real jew is one who keeps all of the torah laws and has been circumsised, our forefathers are avraham, yitzchak and yacoov. 3. they don't NEED us here but this is our home. 4. we feel great and blessed. we have tan all year round and look younger that what we really are. 5. yes we do because this is were we belong. 6. not really. 7. back to you my friend.
12. why?
Lisa   (01.07.10)
these people are staying because they grew up in Jemen- this is their country- it is never easy to just pack a suitcase and leave your home country for good- leaving all your belongings behind. leaving your country is NOT like changing a shirt- show some compassion.... I read some very insensitive TBs here-
13. ATILLA YOU RAT......WELCOME TO ISRAEL :-)
(01.07.10)
YOU WATCHED TOO MUCH OF BOND ! IDIOT ! :-)
14. @ 4, BUT I WANT TO SEE YOU IN DUBAI !
(01.07.10)
15. What Jew is so foolish as to choose Islam over leaving?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.07.10)
According to Y, "the tense reality caused several members to convert to Islam." Seriously, why would one adopt the faith of his oppressor when he has the option to retain the faith of his fathers in safety elsewhere?
16. No. 12 Lisa
NYC Girl   (01.08.10)
I agree that it's never easy leaving the country you were raised in. But, unfortunately, there are precedents to prove that while it may not be easy, it's often better than what can happen if people continue to live under hostile regimes. That's why I don't think those talkbacks you refer to are necessarily hostile. I think people are concerned with the fate of those who are choosing not to leave Yemen as the country becomes increasingly inhospitable to the few Jews who remain there.
17. I don't like the Satmar, but to save their lives I am OK
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (01.08.10)
with the Yemenite Jews go live with them in New York Anything is better than the life they have now even though I would prefer that they would come to Israel So please Satmar, take them in!
18. # 6
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.08.10)
Trumpeldor ! Communism,is also a Religion,it has its saints,martirs, and atrocities.
19. As someone who has left their their country of birth, I can
L ,   Israel   (01.08.10)
say that it is not the easiest thing to do. Israel, despite the "promised monetary benefits" (not that that's why we came) is not the easiest place to get by...those "benefits" soon run out and then....finding a job? Not so easy. The "now what?" syndrome. Understandably, moving to a different country (even if it IS home - Israel) is very daunting. The Yemenite Jews who first came here in the beginnings of The State did not fare so well in their Jewishness either (understatement of the century; their deep religiousness was ransacked by rabid secular zionists) -- so one could see the hesitation, despite the situation over there.
20. They need to leave while they can
Yakov   (01.08.10)
with guerilla warfare in that country plus radicalization, it's not worth the risk to life to stay there. It's quite clear they are not free to speak what they want, and that community basically lives under duress. If no other reason, that's why they need to be taken out-to whatever country is willing to take them. It's that bad. .
21. SATMAR hassidim paying these Jews to stay in Yemen under
Jae ,   Lynn US   (01.08.10)
death threats???? what?? now several have felt forced to convert to islam, people fear for their lives, cant utter a word of hebrew or travel alone. These satmar want them to stay? Are they frigging sick in the head? At least have satmar pay for them to relocate to be safe with the satmar community- even though Im no big fan of that coomunity. Obviously they would be safe!
22. yemeni jews in Israel
yaakkov ,   miami florida usa   (01.09.10)
After hearing the way Israel treated and still treats the Yemenites I certainly would discourage migrating to Israel. the land of not so much Milk and Honey< but lots of racisim.
23. # 22
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.10.10)
How many yemeny Jews escaped racist Israel, back to yemen ,the real land of milk and honey ?.
24. It's nobody's business what they do
Zvika ,   Jerusalem   (01.10.10)
if they leave, and to where they decide to go. Some TBers "prefer" they go to Israel? It's none of your friggin' business. This is a throwback to the bolshevik paternalism of the early years of the state. The "authorities" know what's best, and will make decisions for them -- like they did 50 years ago for the newly arrived olim from Yemen and elsewhere. You wanna suggest Israel, go right ahead. You wanna urge or force people to immigrate to Israel? Fuggedaboutit! It's up to them.
