2. Why was he not allowed to return home before?
Apa ,   NYC   (01.08.10)
Why was he not allowed back to his birthplace? If anything, a right of return should have applied to him - he left to study medicine, but was therefore refused his home?

last time I checked Israel Annexed the Golan. The fact is Syria is not getting this territory back. The Druzium do not want to go back to living in filth and poverty.
9. Is this a joke?
Tarik ,   Boston, MA USA   (01.08.10)
On account of their racist policies, Zionists refuse to allow this man to live in his home because he left to study medicine. They keep this man in exile for 30 years. Then, when he dies, they allow his dead body to be buried there and call it a "humanitarian gesture". The racism and delusional narcissism of Zionists continues to shock me on a daily basis.

Thousands of Jews were buried alive in ghettoes, caged in professional, social, travel bans. Of course, this is not racism: it is religious hierarchy.
11. To #2,4,5,6 & 9 Look who's complaining!

Jews CANNOT go back to Muslim places where they were expelled from under pain of death. This man chose to leave voluntarily, to an enemy country. You are defending the true racists here ...maybe you are just one of them ... wouldn't be a surprise. Cali, Cali dude, if you are an American what are you doing defending people that are terrorizing your country?

Contemplate the possibility that you have incorrectly interpreted the article. Do you agree that the phrase "he was forbidden to return to Israel" could mean that it was the Syrians who forbade it? After all, there are Jews living in Syria who want to leave and go to Israel, and it is the Syrians who forbid it, not the Israelis. I realize that your natural inclination is to find fault with Israel in any given situation, but please contemplate the likelihood that you are incorrect here. Israel has no quarrel with the Druze -- in fact, Druze men serve in the Israeli Defense Forces, as do Bedouins. Moreover, an increasing number of Christian Arabs are stepping up and volunteering to do national service for Israel. Has it escaped your notice because it doesn't comport with your narrow political view? Too bad. Perhaps you ought to expand your view.

Syrian? Really? Gosh, silly me .... here I thought that Syria was defeated in the Six Day War. For the record, the Golan was formally annexed into Israel in 1982. If you really want to challenge legitimacy, how about addressing the issue of how Syria was carved out of Palestine by the French following the Sykes-Picot agreement? Talk about illegitimacy of nations -- Syria and Jordan head that list!

Syria lost the Golan Heights to Israel in the Six-Day War in 1967. I guess Syria shouldn't have attacked Israel, but they did, and must live with the consequences of their folly. The Golan was annexed by Israel in 1982, by the way.

He is also Jewish. In case you are unaware (as I strongly suspect), Israel has a dual identity. There is Israel, the land and Israel, the people. There is a passage in the Bible where G-d says to Jacob, "Because thou has met adversity and conquered it, Jacob, thy name is Israel." Jacob/Israel is the father of the twelve tribes, in other words, the Jewish people. So Jews can speak as nationals of whatever country in which they reside -- and are, I assure you, thoroughly loyal citizens -- and they can speak as Jews, or the people Israel. Hope this clarifies things for you.
19. #9 - He was refused because he married Syrian, and timeline
William ,   Israel   (01.08.10)
He wasn't refused to return to Israel's Golan because he studied medicine. I am surprised you could come to that conclusion living in one of the more educated portions of the US. Even the radical Muslims of Roxbury are more intelligent than you, it seems. He was refused a return because he married a Syrian (and she wouldn't be allowed into the Golan) and it was in 1982, when Israel annexed the Golan. I am an ardent Zionist...and right in your backyard of Brighton, MA! I'm still waiting for even the slightest gesture of humanity from Arabs.
20. #13 - Good point. I didn't think of this before my post
William ,   Israel   (01.08.10)
But indeed - many Syrians are forbidden from moving into the Golan by Assad's govt. I've also hear incidents where Golani Druze go into Syria for some reason and aren't allowed back by the regime there. I know the Syrians are trying to pressure Golan residents to spy for them.
