The Gazan crisis -- if there is one -- was created by Hamas who could end it today. Israel would of course send a mission to Gaza but the likelihood is they would be all wiped out by the good people of Hamas as they wipe out one another. If they were ever to stop intending to totally destroy the Zionist state, maybe they could actually become part of the functioning, positive world. Weird how despite their 'crisis', Gazans have life expectancies 15 years longer than Haitians and much longer and healthier than virtually all the rest of the Arab world. What crisis are you referring to?
32. of course not
Ilana   (01.18.10)
they hide in waiting for an opportunity to stick out their ugly hateful heads or try turning this back into a gaza whine
33. #2 and #5 - concerned der sturmmer isn't
AY_Lamb ,   Globestan   (01.18.10)
getting the credit they deserve eh? Well fox noise is nothing more than a "yellow journalism" propaganda outlet; in the tradition of William Randolph Hearst. Cluster fox leverages the techniques of Ad hominem, Ad nauseam, Appeal to fear, Appeal to prejudice, Bandwagon, Black-and-white fallacy, Flag-waving, Glittering generalities, Half-truth, Intentional vagueness and demonizing of the enemy. The military establishment is embedded with Fox and daily lobotomize themselves on its disinformation (much to the general peril / detriment of the American system / people). I know the emotionally vacant dominionist evangelicals are beset by their recent turn of political fortune but, worry not salvation does lie in "Fox lies" and your war on common decency rages.
34. Hey Matty #10...
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.18.10)
Good idea. Now digest these facts. 1. You'd be surprised to learn that Israel actually heeded your idea and opened a well-equipped field hospital in Gaza during Cast Lead, for treating all Palestinian casualties. Only trouble was, Hamas threatened Gazans not to come there. 2. There were no 15 hospitals in Gaza. There is only one real hosptial, Shifa, which was untouched by Israel, which is of course the reason why Hamas chose to locate its headquarters over there. 3. Throughout the operation, Israel continued to ensure goods reached Gaza precisely to avoid a humanitarian crisis. Nearly 60 thousand tons of humanitarian supplies were delivered in over 2000 trucks. In the middle of the operation, Israel declared a 3-hour ceasefire to transport goods, though Hamas did not observe this ceasefire. 4. Hamas snipers killed workers transporting the humanitarian goods. It seized the aid intended for Gazan civilians, gave it exclusively to Hamas operatives, or placed it in Hamas-owned stores to sell at inflated prices.
35. #10 sit down #24 spot on 100% correct!
(01.18.10)
#10 I agree with #23 have the Hamas return Gilad Ben Aviva Shalit have them stop bombing civilian populations of southern Israel and then we can talk in the meantime #10 please do carefully read #23 and #24 post and yes #24 is spot on we did send an IDF field hospital and the HAMAS prevented the Gazans from receiving assistance! in other words find a fair rock in fair port to hide under!!!!
36. To #10 the "Genius"...
MD ,   Israel   (01.18.10)
R u kidding? Set up an IDF field hospital in Gaza? NO THANX!!! Israel has enough hostages as it is in that hostile place!!! And by the way, the minute any IDF personnel enters Gaza, you and your friends will scream "occupation" and accuse Israel of "organ trafficking" and drinking the Palestinian's blood!!! And besides, the “peaceful” democratically elected Hammas” gov. is getting billions in aid so let them improve the life of their own people. They sure can afford it.
37. 24 Joe , you are 100 % RIGHT
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.18.10)
regarding this field hospital near the gaza border .
38. People Israel IDF is there 4 two reasons
(01.18.10)
1. to assist Haiti in this time of natural diaster that has befallen them and 2. in payment of a very important historical debt. on 29 Nov 1948 Haiti voted in favor of the creation of the State of Israel. We have never forgotten that goodly action from Haiti at our time of need and so in their time of need we have responded! Kudos to IDF, Kudos to ZAKA Kudos to ISRAid Well done!
39. :: Birdi - #21 - Racist & fictitious
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (01.18.10)
What a racist and fictitious statement. The following is what has been reported, you can be sure that this concise list is not complete. Turkey: $1m, search & rescue teams, food/aid/medicine/etc and a field hospital. Jordan: Military field hospital/6 tons of food. Iran*: 30 tons of food/aid/medicine/etc. Lebanon: 25-30 tons food/aid/medicine/etc. Bahrain: $1m. Morocco: $1m, tons food/aid/medicine/etc. Qatar: 50 tons of aid tons food/aid/medicine/etc and a field hospital. UAE: Over 50 tons of food/aid/medicine/etc. Kuwait: $1m, 90 tons of food/aid/medicine/etc. You go ahead and pat yourself on the back because Israel is, like all other countries, providing assistance to the people of Haiti.
40. Praise for Israeli mission in Haiti: 'Only ones operating'
narokee ,   USA   (01.18.10)
Yes Praise to Israeli Mission in Haiti!!! They flow like that!!! I however don't like how the US is being made to look bad in comparison. Israeli's are different to Americans, they are trained and ready for disaster. They know war, and peace in their own land. How can the US response be compared to a country who has learned to be diligent in times of crisis because of there own ongoing crisis. THIS IS NOT A TIME TO PUT OTHERS DOWN FOR THEIR INEFFICIENCIES, but a time to come together and help cushioned countries like the US respond to crisis more quickly. Hey they need all the help they can get. THANKS ISRAEL for leading the way
41. Mad Groves #10 footnote ur information in #39
(01.18.10)
me thinks you made some of this up! and by the way American Jewish Organizations turned over a check to Mr. Clinton for Haitian relief last Friday. Yep in three days American Jewish Organizations raised 5 million dollars...that''s more than Turkey, Bahrain, Morocco and Kuwait all together!
42. The US seems unable to organise in a timely fashion
Markus ,   BaHul   (01.18.10)
Yes lovely volunteers send search dogs etc. but why did they wait 5 days? The USA is so bogged down in legal constraints due to lawsuits, general stupidity in leadership due to unqualified blacks being in charge (affirmative action), they are paralyzed. Well-intentioned but hapless.
43. Thanks you Israel
Galut ,   Selah   (01.18.10)
There is still much work to be done keep giving and sharing
44. iran and the arabs
alexi   (01.18.10)
hassan, you claim israel is an illegal entity that is corrupt and does no good. What do you do to help haitt? iran, syria, iraq, egypt, lebanon? Nothing, yoiu do nothing, zero. And Israel-the only field hospital in haiti is israeli from 5000 miles away. The US- they are good, but beaurocratic and slow. So shut up you do nothing, always UN pleading freeloaders!
45. Thread hijackers
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.18.10)
This thread is devoted to the heroic actions of Israel's medical team in Haiti. Peripherally, it extends to the equally heroic actions of Israel's search and rescue team in Haiti, who work quite closely with the medical team. It is not about Gaza. Do not allow the usual anti-Israel flotsam and jetsam to spew their oh-so-predictable nonsense about Gaza and hijack this thread. Ignore their pathetic attempts to change the topic of the thread to something other than what it is.
46. TBers an important note: the IDF landed because the USA
(01.18.10)
commandered the Haitian Airport and set up a temporary communications operation! Its called "teamwork" even if it looks like the USA is commandering and the IDF is only saving lives!
47. Salute for true sons & daughters of David
Mc Angel ,   Bulacan, Philippines   (01.18.10)
I salute for your preparedness for this tragic happenings at Haiti. You really deserve all the credits.
48. To: No. 42
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.18.10)
The current American administration is increasingly bogged down in the Middle East, has done nothing to reduce unemployment and the general poor economy, has already alienated a significant portion of the American public International disaster relief is the bailiwick of the United Nations, anyway. Perhaps if they focused a little less on the Palestinians and a little more on acquiring heavy earth-moving equipment, they might actually be effective. I don't exactly recall the world rushing to the aid of the United States following Hurricane Katrina. What right does anyone have to require the United States to make such huge expenditures at a time when the United States is in the throes of a very deep recession that shows no signs of improving? The First Lady has actually taken to the airwaves in a public service announcement to urge Americans to "give generously." Where's the United Nations?

Tahl's post is 100% true.
51. don't 4get work of Mashov...remember?
(01.18.10)
there are Haitian born physicians and nurses trained in Israel as part of the old Mashov program who are working together with the IDF team! We've all seen one of these Haitian physicians he's the one wearing an IDF uniform with a Haitian Flag patch next to the Israeli Flag patch on his uniform. Its called humanitarian teamwork!
52. Israel does great at first response, so do
AY_Lamb ,   Globestan   (01.18.10)
other countries as well. When this event occurred there was much dialogue and speculation as to how China could get "boots on the ground" quicker then the US. The answer is simple "Monroe Doctrine" apprehension and reservations regarding American "Imperial Maneuverings" etc. This guy where I used to work at Fort Campbell had this slogan on his wall that described an event where Collin Powell was attending a European State dinner where the crowd was speculating if American intervention in Iraq was a new era of American Imperial adventurism and CP purportedly responded with "the only land America has asked for from foreign countries is just enough to bury her fallen soldiers" and it goes on the say that the crowd fell silent with shame. I would say - did the crowd fall silent with shame? or shock at the absurdity of the statement of the secretary of state? Cuba, Mexico and Philippines, all that land was taken as an acquisition and expansion nothing more. It serves no good purpose to revise historic fact, those that forget history are doomed to repeat it. The extent of the damage done by the previous administration has yet to be fully realized, it'll take years and years and vigorous diplomacy and action that is in accord with our constitution to win back the trust of others and particularly the trust of out hemispheric neighbors.
53. rescue
colin   (01.18.10)
Something smells or is dretfully wrong. The anti Israel anti-semetic CCN praises Israel !!! Even the biased against Israel ABC had good reporting of the Israeli effiecency in Haiti The truth outs. These twisted media are unable to find a match from thier mother lands.
54. To 39 You have got to be kidding me?
The Dude   (01.18.10)
Countries like Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, and Kuwait give only that? These are oil baron nations, they literally pump money from the ground. These are some of the wealthiest countries on earth and all they gave was $1 million? Hell I'm sure the hospital Israel sent costs more per week... Most of this aid, as I have shown before, is essentially ineffective. If someone needs surgery, which currently they can only get at the Israeli hospital, it doesn't matter if 300 tons of food/aid/medicine etc. is sent. Thats the difference, it's the first responder aid, the Israeli search & rescue, doctors that are making an impact. Not just sending a check with condolences to the island. I also have to ask how exactly is the aid going to be distributed once it gets there? I'm guessing American helicopters and trucks... Yea, keep deluding yourself. This is literally like Royalty giving some crumbs and acting self-righteous...
55. #42 - Marcus BaHul - are you serious
AY_Lamb ,   Globestan   (01.18.10)
"unqualified blacks" You are still espousing that tired apartheid mentality huh? It is ridiculous my friend give it up.
56. :: Joe - #24
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (01.19.10)
The small field hospital (and a Emergency treatment center) were set up did not travel past the Erez Crossing into Gaza. It was opened on 18 January (the day the war effectively ended) and closed soon afterward. I guess the Palestinians found it easier to use the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza City If Hamas discouraged people from using the Israeli field hospital it is understandable as in the past Shin Bet/IDF have threatened/harassed civilian seeking treatment.
57. :: Tahl - #34
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (01.19.10)
Yes they did but it wasn’t situated in Gaza. Really? "122 health facilities assessed, about 48% found damaged or destroyed: 15 hospitals and 41 PHC centers partially damaged; 2 PHC centers destroyed [...]" WHO Report 4 February 2009. Tahl I think the WHO will know better than you how many hospitals are in Gaza. “Throughout the operation”? A humanitarian corridor was opened up 11 days *after* Israel started its attack. ‘Throughout’ my ar$e. To quote the Goldstone Report: “72. The Mission acknowledges that the supply of humanitarian goods, particularly foodstuffs, allowed into Gaza by Israel temporarily increased during the military operations. The level of goods allowed into Gaza before the military operations, however, was insufficient to meet the needs of the population even before hostilities started, and has again decreased after the end of the military operations. From the facts ascertained by it, the Mission believes that *Israel has violated its obligation to allow free passage of all consignments of medical and hospital objects, food and clothing (article 23 of the Fourth Geneva Convention). The Mission also finds that Israel violated specific obligations it has as Occupying Power spelled out in the Fourth Geneva Convention, such as the duty to maintain medical and hospital establishments and services and to agree to relief schemes if the occupied territory is not well supplied*” Digest at your leisure.
58. Please note
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.18.10)
Little Israel with a population of a mere 7 million people has given more aid than 1.2 billion Muslims. Telling figures especially considering that most Haitians are Christians.
59. Sarah B. is back baby!!
Manuel ,   Mexico City, Mexico   (01.18.10)
Sarah... where have u been? We all missed you! Great to have you back....!!!! Sincerely, Manuel...
60. That's nothing. HAMAS is sending Shahid Instructors
meir elazar   (01.19.10)
While Israel is focused on the welfare of a few of the living survivors, HAMAS, IJ, EA, and PRC are sending Shahid Instructional support for tens if not hundreds of thousand victims to make sure they all get their 72 virgins in the FOREVER after life.
