3. Give me a break
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (01.19.10)
You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried. I thought the Imans in Gaza were praying for rain last week. Maybe their prayers were answered! There was serious flooding in the Negav. Someone was killed. Was the same magical damn the cause of this horror. There will be no peace and no co-existance until the Palys start standing on their own two feet, opening up their own ideas and start looking at the world with truth. "Its' Israels fault" can't be the answer to everything. Eventually they have to take responsibility themselves or acknowledge sometimes it is no one's fault!

... to "cry me a river." Of course, following Israel's well-publicized prayer for rain, didn't Hamas organize a day of praying to rain. Sometimes, you get what you ask for. In spades. Turning around and blaming Israel is bloody funny, though.

13. Arthur, why don't yuo laugh about this...
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (01.19.10)
...about eighty percent of Gaza's waste water is untreated sewage that goes straight into the ocean. International efforts have been made to improve the situation but then Israel bombed them, wasting the international community's money and depriving your average Gazan even a basic sewer system. Collective punishment. But wait, there's more! Indeed, in the Gaza Valley, it has long been reported by the UN that the water pollution is far outstripping capacity and that most of the regions sewage outlets converge here. The UN reports that with a chemical laden Israeli runoff, especially from "rainwater dams" created specifically to conserve very scare water, combined with sewage from Gaza is creating an intolerable situation in terms of ground water and ocean pollution. Imagine a huge influx of chemically laden waste water in that overtaxed and intentionally broken system, by the occupier country that broke the system in the first place, Israel, and then simply flushing the dams to save Israeli property? Imagine a river of 80% shit and chemicals washing through San Francisco from Las Vegas that washed away a bunch of homes dude... What is so hard to get?
14. Does the dam exist?
zach ,   us   (01.19.10)
So the IDF enter the strip without any trouble and opened a dam that may or may not actually be there

25. I ADMIT IT...I AM THE ONE WHO PRAYED FOR THE EXTRA RAIN
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (01.19.10)
IT WAS I, WHO PRAYED FOR EXTRA RAIN TO WASH AWAY ALL THE BURIED AND HIDDEN ARABS' KASSEM ROCKETS AND TO RENDER THEM USELESS HOPEFULLY. DON'T BLAME ISRAEL OR ANY ISRAELI SECRET PLOT , AS IT WAS ONLY ME HERE IN CANADA......................I DID THE SPECIAL PRAYER FOR EXTRA RAIN AND I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF.
26. Of course the Gazans blame the IDF
Haifa granny   (01.19.10)
They blame the IDF for everything. If it rains, the IDF is at fault, if it doesn't rain, the IDF is at fault. The problem is that the world believes them.
27. Hamas did little to improve Palestinian life.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (01.19.10)
The root of the current crisis lies in Hamas policy. Israel withdrew unilaterally from the Gaza Strip in 2005, giving the Palestinian Authority an unprecedented opportunity to govern. Hamas took 76 of 132 seats in the January 2006 elections, and while the group used the poll to claim democratic legitimacy, it eschewed the responsibility of leadership. It had built popularity on violence, and found opposition easier than governance. It did little to improve Palestinian life. Rather than develop industry, it destroyed the multimillion-dollar greenhouses which Israel left behind to help build the Palestinian economy; rather than eliminate corruption, it diverted millions into Hamas coffers. 28. BSnews #13 - you are wrong..
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (01.19.10)
Garbage from LV is most likely to wind up in the Colorado river (just to set the geography straight). Gaza is a shithole that shoud've been flushed out years ago. It it was in my power - there would not be a single Arab left there. They would all move to Saudi or Egypt. Exchange of population. That's all. And BTW - Arabs newer had sewer system in the Land of Israel. I doubt that you've ever visited the Land - but if you were - it's a known fact. Until than - it's all BS news..
29. No. 28 Arthur
NYC Girl   (01.19.10)
Apparently, our friend at BSNews is blissfully unaware that, for years, the Palestinians consistently refused to allow Israel to make any improvements in their infrastructure because they didn't want the Israelis to get any credit for improving the lives of Palestinians in the territories. So, instead, their damned fool leaders chose to force them to live with rivers of human waste running through their streets. But at least they didn't make the "evil Zionists" look good.
30. Despicable
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (01.19.10)
If the IDF did this, as many Palestinians claim they did, it was despicable, not the flooding, but giving no warning to citizens. They are still trying to punish common people for voting in Hamas.
