1. let villagers decide through local referendum
zionist forever   (01.24.10)
Its almost certain that they will choose to remain under Israeli sovereignty but it will allow Israel to say to the rest of the world look we didn't decide this the villagers did. It will also be a real smack in the face to Obama which alone would make it all worthwhile because he wants Israel to give away everything but if through a village wide referendum they have decided they want to stay residents of Israel then whats he going to say? He will be left with 2 choices he doesn't like. I am sorry I don't believe in the wishes of the people affected especially when the decision was made democratically I don't support the terrorist controlled government that wants to force the residents of Ghjar to decide the future of the villagers against their will. If the villagers say they want Israel in charge its going to be hard for Obama or the UN to reject their demands.
2. "Self-determination" except when negating it weakens Israel
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.24.10)
Jerusalem has been majority Jewish at least since the 1860s, yet the drive has been either to "internationalize" it or to divide it - to keep it out of Jewish hands. Now they want to divide Ghajar, despite the clear desire of the populace to remain united under Israeli sovereignty. The push to divide it is intended simply to weaken Israel, to generate unrest within the city at Israel's expense, and to open it up to infiltration from Lebanon.
3. No devision, Reunite the entire village.
JO   (01.24.10)
I dont see why the village can not be reunited as is wanted by the villagers, they have talked about it and wanted it for decades. Whether it be Syrian or Lebanese, whatever they choose. It is better for Israel, security, and the villagers if they are all one.
4. #2 Ghajar will not weaken israel
antoine ,   ottawa   (01.24.10)
and second of all, Ghajar residents built their houses on Lebanese lands. How do you feel if mexicans build houses on american soil next to the border and then start claiming "self determination".
5. To: Zionist Forever at No. 1
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.24.10)
Darling, where HAVE you been? The residents of Ghajar long ago expressed their overwhelming desire to remain Israeli.
6. #5 Sarah. Agreed. Israel should state, if attacked, it will
Jae ,   Lynn US   (01.24.10)
not only conquer land, but future "peace" deals will be just that; TRUE peace deals, as in peace for peace.
