31. Nonsense from the People's Republic of Burkeley
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.26.10)
Lee Kaplan writes, "treating to children in Gaza the IAF burned with white phosphorus? What was this in Haiti, a PR campaign?" The Red Cross itself confirmed during the conflict that the IDF used white phosphorus (do you even know what it is?) in a manner consistent with international law. The few who might have been damaged by it were strictly incidental. I should remind you, since you are so patently ignorant, that Israel has and continues to treat patients from Gaza. But the field hospital it setup after Cast Lead closed after some two weeks because Gaza residents, under Hamas pressure, refused to make use of it. You complain the hospital is closing after only two weeks? That was a judgment call based on the inflow of patients and the establishment of other facilities by the US, Russia, and others. I for one heard not a word about the field hospital those Israel-bashing liberals in Berkeley failed to provide. Liberals only talk a good game; they expect the state to provide on their behalf... preferably with someone else's money.
32. Matty , cubaweb is NOT a serious reference
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.26.10)
the same as you , no value . And yes , a very short distance makes it very easy to send people . you know anything about logistics apparently [ as with all other things ] Only anti Israel , not to say anti Jewish . POOR LOSER . Give YOUR references .
33. help for Haiti
Hedy Maimann ,   Vienna, Austria,   (01.26.10)
Blessings for your wonderful work in Haiti . Of course all others that helped might be blessed as well that is no question. I think we should be more humble in front of these brave people in Haiti that went through so much the last weeks.Their pain could unite the world for one moment in this beautyful help from divine human beings to divine human beings as it is written we all are in the image of God, so its a shame in the front of all those victims of the earhtquake that there are so many hateful talkbacks here- some more dignity would be better. whoever helped did a great job and that`s it.

the nations of the world, in the manner and counsel the Torah gives.
35. ::::::::::: Marlene and other Israel haters
Jae ,   Lynn US   (01.26.10)
The Jews are in their land (going back 4000 years to the patriarchs and matriarchs). Others may join them- provided there is loyalty to the Jewish state. If not they wont be citizens; its that logical, its that simple, its also that commonplace among nations of the world. Loyalty is expected. The people of Gaza were warned to not aid or be near hamas terrorists who DELIBERATELY use their people as shields, to kill Jewish babies on the playground. Thats not ok "marlene". Israel foolishly waited for the 8000 terrorist missile (aimed at civilians) before acting. Other countries would act after the 1st, not the 8000th. Israel was foolishly inhumane- to their own people. Hamas leaders should all be dead by now. Thats what is inhumane. The people of Aza elected a government with a charter from the Koran, including this beauty: "The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him." And you defend these lunes? Jordan is Palestine. Thats the demographic, geographic, political solution.

Careful, now -- your stupidity is showing, not to mention your rabid hatred of Jews and Israel. Israel has received praise from the delegations of quite a few countries as well as from journalists on the ground in Haiti who hail from throughout the world. That Israel's splendid achievements in Haiti and the richly-deserved accolades it has received in recognition thereof gall you -- too bad. Although this thread is not about Palestinians -- although I note that all the usual Jew-haters and Israel-haters have brought up the subject -- I remind you that the Palestinians ended up on the losing end of six wars, none of which were started by Israel and are responsible for sixty-plus years of terror which attacked not only Jews in Israel, but throughout the world as well. Suicide bombings. Ambushing of Israeli patrols. Kidnapping soldiers. Years of missile barrages deliberately targeting Israeli civilian areas. All that Palestinian violence is pretty shameful, wouldn't you say, Marlene? Israel has an affirmative duty to protect and defend its borders and ensure the safety and security of its citizens. Your approval is not required.

Debbie suggested a visit to Tel-Aviv & not to Gaza or the West Bank. There is no conflict in Tel-Aviv. No country today is "the land of OZ" each & every country have their own problems & nothing is perfect in life.

Nobody is disputing this fact. The only thing I am disputing is this self-gratifying statement: “There are no other nations with strength, willingness, dedication, determination to help in this way.” Clearly Cuba is an example of another nation that has shown strength, willingness, dedication and determination to help the people of Haiti. So what? It still has a lower GDP than Israel. <(It's funny, you even question Israel's motives in lending a helping hand.)> There is no need to question Israel's motives clearly Israel has been using the humanitarian disaster in Haiti to improve its battered international image, on the other hand the Cuban are not.

Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (01.26.10)
Don’t like cubaweb.cu? No probs, please refer to the other sources I cite in #20. Don’t like those? Okay then here is CNN: "Peace Hospital is one of a dozen hospitals and makeshift clinics run by Cuban doctors who were among the first medics to arrive in Port-au-Prince. Local Haitian staff abandoned Peace Hospital when the quake hit, but now doctors who took over say they are treating about 500 patients a day. "They are performing many amputations." "More than 300 Cuban doctors were already in Haiti carrying out humanitarian missions when the quake hit. Now there are 450, and they've been joined by 400 Haitian medics trained at Cuban schools, as well as doctors from dozens of other countries who don't have their own field hospitals yet." "Nearly 10,000 patients have been treated at various Cuban-run hospitals." (Cuban-run hospital performs amputations, Jan 19 - cnn.com) Regardless of the source they all counter this stupid claim: “There are no other nations with strength, willingness, dedication, determination to help in this way.” Col. Itzik Kreis I have used Cuba as on example however many other nations have shown strength, willingness, dedication and determination to help the people of Haiti. A singular fact that neither you nor anyone else can dispute.

observer   (01.26.10)
“We already pay $7 million a month to Israeli hospitals,” the Palestinian health minister said in a telephone interview. “Since the first day of the Gaza aggression I said that I will not send to my occupier my injured people in order for him to make propaganda at my expense and then pay him for it.”

48. Why bother reading Matty and Marlene's trash and lies?
Esther ,   Ofarim   (01.27.10)
Why try to give logical arguments when there's only hate and lies? They don't want to be corrected, or learn anything. They are two miserable creatures seeking an outlet for their venom. I can't understand why YNet permits them to spread their lies, but, personally, Marlene and Matty don't deserve any responses.
49. Matty Groves
Korem ,   New York, USA   (01.27.10)
It's hilarious how you try to compare Cuba's contributions to Israel in an attempt to smear Israel. Israel is much farther, in a state of war with its resources being used mostly to maintain itself. The fact that it could send anyone is a marvel. You are disgracing the brave men and women of Israel that actually went to Haiti to save lives. When they were helping deliver babies and doing surgeries the thought going through their head wasn't a constant "mwhaha! Now our evil plan to divert attention from the Palestinians has worked!" It doesn't even matter what their intentions are; hundreds were saved by Israel, and thats a fact you have to deal with it, no matter how much it angers your hateful, rotten soul. Israel has sent these kinds of teams to natural disaster sites all over the world for a long time, without getting the same press. This is little different, except this time the media caught on. So there's no evidence whatsoever that the intention was for PR and not for the sake of helping. Poor anti-Israelis, getting so jealous and shocked that Israel does good for the world, that they have to resort to changing the topic to Palestinians and regurgitating the same broken points to convince themselves that Israelis are the demonic evil collective they must be for their arguments to work.
50. Very nice gestures between Israel & Colombia
Zvi   (01.27.10)
All honor to the Colombians for the very significant and early help that they sent to Haiti ($900,000 donated via the Red Cross, $1 million in food, water, tent, medical supplies, 200 rescue and medical workers, 18 search dogs; and Colombia acted as a logistical hub for some of the aid flowing to Haiti). Also, the friendship shown by Col. Sagura warms the heart.

a quote? from where? a reference source? #46 provided you with no reference source. so, we can conclude that the quote is in his own imagination. by the way, matty, do you recall the 2 suicide female bombers that were caught "PREGANANT" IN THE RED CRESCENT PALESTINIAN AMBULANCE ON THE WAY TO ISRAELI HOSPITAL A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO??????? she was hiding a suicide vest on her belly, faking preganancy so that she can kill the doctors and nurses at the jewish israeli hospital. now, i can quote you that tid bit since it was all over the news here and abroad. do you recall the burn victim, a palestinian from gaza, that was due to come back for a doctor's visit in an israeli hospital? to visit the israeli doctor who performed a life saving skin graft on her face? (she was burnt by her father some years ago and needed special treatment and went to israel from gaza. to the next appointment, she hid a bomb device on her person intending to blow up the israeli doctor that saved her life. i can provide you with lots of web sites to show you this incident. it is well known that the gaza terrorists very often use "pregnant" females and young children delivering them in red crescent ambulances, but basically sending them to kill israelis in both hospitals and other places. the palestinians of gaza never pay a penny for any hospital care they use in israel. that is a fact. those living in the west bank do pay, but a fraction of what israelis are paying. often, these animals use this opportunity to enter israeli hospitals and israel proper to committ murder and terror. this is how the hospital terrorist got in from gaza, this is how the burn victim got in from gaza. this is how the sbarro pizza terrorists got in from gaza. any more complaints???? again. ask yourt buddy, #46 to provide the exact link to this quote and the exact paper in which it was published. otherwise, we don't buy your propaganda. hameed aboughaze, iranian

55. Isn’t it all about hate? Attack by female’s suicide bomber
e.m.Jordan is Palest ,   s.f   (01.27.10)
Twenty-one-year-old Wafa Samir Ibrahim al-Biss was arrested Monday morning, June 20, 2005, at the Erez crossing, after attempting to smuggle an explosives belt through the crossing with the intent of carrying out a suicide bombing attack. Wafa, 21, a resident of Jabaliya, aroused the suspicion of the soldiers at the crossing and during her security check, and when she realized they had discovered the explosive belt on her body, she attempted unsuccessfully to detonate it. Wafa stated in her questioning that she had been dispatched as a suicide bomber by the Fatah al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade infrastructure based in the northern Gaza Strip. Wafa was to use her personal medical authorization documents, allowing her to cross through into Israel to receive medical treatment. Wafa stated that she had been directed to carry out the suicide attack in a crowded Israeli hospital. Wafa had been admitted to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva between December 2004 and January 2005 for treatment of massive burns she received as a result of a gas-tank explosion. Wafa was given permission to enter Israel Monday, June 20, for admission to the hospital for medical treatment. The terrorist infrastructure attempted to take advantage of her medical condition in order to carry out a major suicide bombing attack inside Israel. There have been several attempts by terrorist organizations to dispatch terrorists to Israel from the Gaza Strip by exploiting those in need of medical treatment: #2 The first girl she turned to was "Zahara", a 19-year-old from a Kabatia religious family. “Zahara”, was born in Saudi Arabia and lived there until the age of ten, whereupon her family moved to Jordan and from there to the West Bank. In an interview, "Zahara"30 said that the idea to commit a suicide attack preoccupied her for a long time while she was pursuing her religious studies. Through her studies she came to the conclusion that sacrificing her life was the most exalted and obligatory duty of every Muslim. She said that this was especially due to the situation with Israel and to the "oppression of the Muslims in the world." Zahara’s parents' suspicions about her intentions served to restrict her activities and prevented her from undertaking the attack.
56. Jews answer to a higher authority
dougie T ,   eureka, ca, usa   (01.27.10)
Sarah B., your comment is exactly the kind of prideful, sanctimonious "holier-than-thou" crap that leads to massacres, and it's something that Israel and the United States share, practically unmatched by any people anywhere. The US, with its policy of "here, take our notion of democracy at the point of a gun and like it," since we are the shining beacon of the American way of life .. and then Israel: "God's chosen people." Geez, how can you argue with THAT?? Sarah, here's an idea: instead of Jews (and here I'm talking Israel) answering to what you believe is a higher authority, how about making everyone happy by just answering to a few United Nations resolutions?
57. Do any of you know how...
Ginette Golden ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.27.10)
to read?? The article talks about COLOMBIA not CUBA! In any case a great THANK YOU TO THE ISRAELI TEAM who have somewhat restored pride in us and they did an excellent job in saving lives in very poor conditions. As for Matty Groves, your talkbacks give me heartburn so stop already because most of the time your hatred for Israel and the Jews blinds you and you don't make sense anymore.

59. #10 and thank you, Israel
Carol ,   US   (01.27.10)
First, to the individual from number 10, I want to commend you for your articulate response. It is very impressive, and it is wonderful to see another Muslim person, who is so universally minded. As a Jew, I thank you for speaking up. Israel is a wonderful Nation.Unfortunately, even its own media is so tainted and self-destructive.They do not understand the harm they are doing to Israel and all Jews. Israel's response team has been and is exceptional.I have known some of the participants and organizations that have been responding countless times to help after disasters and to search for individuals in trouble and who have disappeared. They represent the best of Jewish values, ethics, and medicine, and are a Light onto Humanity. The Zaka team deserves special commendation. It is the most difficult, but its purpose insists on the dignity of each human being.

that it can easily be attained without a baby christ? If it has escaped you belief, then why it escaped the intensive demographic attention of the soldiers at the check point. Changing allegiance is very harmful to your heath.
