1. Mitchell's origins are well known here in the USA and it should not matter. He can only mediate based on the parameters given to him by the administration. Besides he is a fair person.
2. Henry Kissinger and Denis Ross are Jewish but that did not prevent them from mediating peace talks between Israel and Arabs. Both Hafez Assad and Arafat trusted Mr. Ross.
