...in it attempt to bring about a "peaceful coexistence", between the Islamists on the one hand and dead Jewish children on the other. I am sure Mr. Goldstone is impressed by his contribution to the well being of Israel young generation and the future "peaceful coexistence" between the sides in this Arab Israeli conflict.

Care to read about the civil war in Mandatory Palestine, which preceded the declaration of war against the fledgling State of Israel and the invasion of Israel by five Arab armies? Peaceful Arab villages, indeed. Try murderous thugs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1947%E2%80%931948_Civil_War_in_Mandatory_Palestine

Elevated ground? Did the villagers use it as a vantage point from which to snipe upon kibbutzim below? I suspect so. There was an active civil war going on in Mandatory Palestine even before the British left. Settlers in kibbutzim were massacred en masse by Palestinian Arabs. I note that residents of Najd fled to Gaza. Which means they were not mnassacred. The Palestinian Arabs were a pretty violent bunch: http://www.middleeastfacts.com/weblog/israel/arab-massacres-of-jews-before-1948/

Robert, not that you need my stamp of approval, but I admire your style and your impartiality. Unlike Sarah, ghostq, and many other rhetorically-driven propagandists, you are actually informed! I must admit that I still disagree with what you wrote about "most Palestinians leaving on their own accord to kill jews, etc.". This is unfounded, most of them left because they lacked water, food, and an open war was declared between the Jewish forces and the Arab armies. I always say it doesn't matter what the circumstances were anyway. What never changes is refugees' inalienable right of return. That's right, we all look forward to our home-coming. Nothing beats home sweet home. All my sympathies to the natives of Najd who were expelled by the Jewish militias!

Palestinians were expelled from Najd on 13 May 1948, before Israel was declared a state and before any Arab armies entered Palestine. According to UN Resolution 194 and also the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 13, Section 2, the villagers of Najd have a right to return home to their personal property and to their native village.

The Yom Kippur prayers include a general admission of sins, and each person silently adds his own personal sins. One of the important prayers is Kol Nidrei - All Vows, named after the opening words of the first prayer, which cancels any vows that a person has made. Vows to abide by the law & UN resolution must have been long expired. But failure to massacre the Najd's villagers has to be atoned Next Yom Kippur.
38. #35 Arab aggression against Israel
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.30.10)
The Arab armies and militias that attacked Israel one day following statehood planned their attack in advance with the announced intention of destroying the Jewish state. Some 650,000 Arabs fled Israel because they were told to leave by their own leaders. Now they regret their decision and the bad advice they received from Arab leaders and broadcasts. There is no right of return. The Palestinians repeated the same mistake between 2001-2008. They repeatedly attacked Israel with terror hoping to destroy the country. They finally provoked a military response and continue to whine about the outcome when they should never have attacked Israel in the first place.

40. #38 Cynthia, Right of Return applies to civilians
Nour ,   Palestine   (01.30.10)
...and civilians cannot be blamed or punished - in any circumstance whatsoever. The universal right of return is certainly applicable! Let it be crystal clear, Sderot of today sits on the ruins of Najd - which was an Arab ethnically cleansed village.

Is that the best you can do? Not terribly impressive. You bleat endlessly about alleged ethnic cleansing and you invent mythical massacres of Palestinians by Jews, and then when your claims are shown to be spurious and that in fact the reverse is true, you toss in a red herring. Talk about childish. It won't work. Your attempt to deflect attention from the facts is clumsy and amateurish. History has proven quite conclusively that it is the Palestinian Arabs that are cowardly muderers, it is the Palestinian Arabs that have blood lust, and Palestinians that have no respect for life. Never mind all the rhetoric from various Palestinian Arab groups – terrorist or not -- about “tearing the heart from the Zionist state” and promising a “cleansing by Jihad” and Israel’s cities “drenched in Zionist blood” – brutal and primitive, but hey, if the shoe fits, wear it. It fits the Palestinian Arabs pretty well, I must say. By the way -- I don't tell you about Eid. Do not dare to presume to tell me about Yom Kippur. You happen to be wrong, anyway. And you never did address the subject of my post, which proved that Arabs were massacring Jews long before the British ever left Mandatory Palestine. No surprise there, either.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.30.10)
Who exactly do you think were responsible for the massacres of Jews before the invasion of Israel by five Arab armies? Why, that would be Arab civilians, of course! No right of return. Sorry. The Palestinians have to live with the consequences of the choices which they made. Just like everyone else in the world, you know? No one is going to change the status quo just to suit the Palestinians. You are clinging to a dream that might have been; could have been, but will never be, and you have only yourselves to blame for this. You are the sole architects of your misery. Unless and until the Palestinians come to grips with reality, you will remain the same primitive and violent people that you are today. Haven't six wars and sixty-plus years of terror taught you anything? Israel is strong and formidable, and the Palestinians are not. That’s not going to change either. Keep up the violence, and you will find yourselves coming to grips with reality elsewhere. Really. We’re pretty sick of the Palestinians and their rabid and violent ways. Tick tock, chica.

The Jewish militia forced Najd villagers to leave a couple of days before the declaration of the state and before any Arab armies entered Palestine. Things had gone with the usual fraud; land grab, then begging cease fire.
44. #40 Let's be crystal clear, Nour
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.31.10)
Arab armies and militias started the war in '48 threatening genocide against Israel. The majority of these Arab refugees, including your family, left to get out of the way of war. Others were told to leave by Arab leaders and broadcasts promising to destroy Israel so Arabs could return and confiscate Jewish property. It didn't work out the way the Arabs planned. Just like Gaza. If you launch 8000+ kassams at Israel, eventually the mother of kassams will fly back at you. Your ethnic cleansing accusation is a myth. Over 160,000 Arabs remained in Israel in '48 and now live as Israeli citizens. Sderot did not become an Israeli town until 1951. I don't know the history of Najd and certainly wouldn't trust Benny Morris, a historical revisionist, or observer, for accuracy. And I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but there is no "international right of return". Your family was wise to move you to Canada where you have a future.

Oh my Sarah. You must be bored out of your mind today - since your post bored me silly! "You are the architects of your own mysery" You must have used this statement over 100 times. Tell me, do you have a ready-to-throw glossary of primitive Zionist insults somewhere, the type you could cut-paste anywhere? Let it sink in your head darling: We are here to stay. We are not going anywhere. I suggest you revisit David Grun's memoirs and famous quotes. That would be a very productive activity for you, since he himself admits that if he were a Palestinian, he would never make peace with Israel, since Israel stole our land. I repeat, we are not going anywhere Sarah. Repeat "the Palestinians are not going anywhere" several times when you wake up and just before going to bed. Learning, monkey method. Palestinian rights 101. Whatever you want to call it, THAT is reality. Double tick tock. PS. Time is clearly not on your side, and you sound like an idiot every time you parrot this. To use a cliche: The only certain thing is change, and the status quo ALWAYS changes Sarah, it's just that you're looking at it through your lense fogged up with hatred and racism.

Gabor Frankl ,   Budapst, Hungary   (02.01.10)
Nour, whatever Grun, David Ben Gurion, Begin or Barak (on suicide-homicide bombers) or Poppy Clown said (it may as well be true) - don't you think, and I say this to you, 'cause clearly we disagree (I'm Jewish and pro-Israeli), I actually regard you an intelligent Arab woman, So: don't you think that peace (real peace not just slogans and cliches), coexistance and cooperation are more important for both sides than never-ending war, destruction and death? Coexistance with the Israelis and not hoping to defeat them, all silly fantasies? In reality NEITHER side will "defeat" the other!
