A ridiculous vision    Hagai Segal
31. the point is
it takes more than declairaion of independance to make people independance, the pali economy and social stracture is light years from it, too much donations relay and too much basic neads they r buying, really it takes more tham a declairation to make a state.
ghostq   (02.07.10)
32. to #2 you wrong, jews in one point
rebeled against the notion of getting donation and wanted to manifacture every thing bythemselves, I hate to tell you but tell to palis their donation will be cut off and they will call you coward and bully. more sad you don't know your own history. as for never again holocaust got nothing to do with the state of Israel started in 1881 in Israel. don't make that mistake cause some holocaust survivors were killed by arabs in Israel during 1948. so please don't taint their memory.

34. Pals want state AND massive return of refugees into Israel
It's not laughable that Palestinians want a state. Most Jews would give it to them in return for peace. What's laughable is that Palestinians discuss the details of a state that includes Jerusalem, an end to settlements etc etc AND expect that Jews will also give them a MASSIVE return of refugees into Israel proper at the same time. Naive Jews and the West believe that surely the Palestinians will accept a token return of refugees. THEY DON"T. They insist on a state AND a massive return of refugees. That's what peace means to them and that's what they demand.

36. Re: #18 link; Analysis of Fayad's speech
Before going all warm & fuzzy over Fayad's speech, I suggest reading an in depth analysis by a world renowned expert on ME affairs, Prof Barry Rubin. http://www.gloria-center.org/blog/2010/02/palestinian-prime-minister Generally, until I see real, long term, sustained, independent, uncoerced (by US & Israel) PA action that becomes a way of life & permanent social conduct, I see all PA declarations as hot air designed to pull the wool over Israeli & Western eyes, usually joyfully swallowed by naive "useful idiots" who want to delude themselves away from the reality spoken in Arabic & their actions on the ground. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating", & for the PA, there is far too much Western taxpayer's money, political power, influence, academic plaudits, self perpetuating bureaucratic structures, etc. not to keep this going as long as possible.... Personally, I think that the best antidote (or pre Uni education) for all the eager think tank types with a Poli Sci MA & 2-3 months in the region, spread a few weeks per visit, is to backpack through South America, SE Asia, or India for 2-3 years, "negotiating", being ripped off & misdirected, learning grassroots culture & way of thinking in 3rd world countries. Call it a "Roadside Scholar's" perspective! BTW, there are also a large number of articles by other researchers at the GLORIA Center, such as Jonathan Spyer. IMO, they are well written, factual, substantiated, & very informative. PT Barnum said:" Never give sucker an even break", & between the West's eagerness to continue "Colonialism by Proxy", influence a geopolitically important region, maintain economical oil supplies, & play the global diplomatic/political game; & Arab's willingness to participate ("Give the punter's what they want"), it is a dysfunctional, addictive, & co-dependent relationship (Robert H can explain far more precisely than I!) that will continue for a long, long time.

37. The "pals" have a state. A state of ignorance and a state of
violence. That will never change. They are born unlearned, gain in violence and stupidity and die worthless.

Besides, why should I respond to any of your posts here, knowing hit-and-runs is your official policy about any question about the illegal settlements?

39. #18 Fayyad is a very popular technocrat
He's very respected. Every week he commissions and directly oversees donor's money being spent on water utilities, school project opening, new roads, and new institutions (for handicap, special need school kids, etc.). Visit the MAAN News website in English and read talkbacks about Fayyad: All positive with no exceptions. Even the Hamas hardliners don't find anything wrong with the man, he's incorruptable and principled. When he speaks, you had better listen, and he DOES represent a sizable portion of Palestinians not only in the territories but also worldwide. We are sick of this war and want a state (either one state or a viable contiguous Palestine). Continue to pelt him with eggs and believe me HAMAS is ALL what you will end up with permanently. PS. Fayyad made it clear: Israel has absolutely no choice but to withdraw from further area C territory and to agree to expand areas A and B pending a final solution. If the above does not take place, unilateral independence resolution at the UN is inevitable (and this doesnt mean the end of bloodshed unfortunately). JORDAN IS NOT PALESTINE - The sooner you accept this the sooner there will be peace.
Nour ,   Palestine   (02.07.10)
40. #28 Robert, your use of "quotes" to refer to Palestinians
is both deplorable and pitiful. It shows you unprepared and even uninterested in true peace you are.

41. another 'failed leader
Abbas term expired. WHO CARES. He was useless as a chairman, and he's useless now. He did a better job in the background organizing terror attacks against Israeli's, but so are all the 'Pal leaders. When will these 'poor Pals vote for a real leader, a courages person who cares about THEIR fate and not HIS own pocket or career?

43. to #39 don't you think any agreement is give and take
you got demands, what Israel will get in giving areas, cause untill now when she gave areas she got rockets in return, not making this up, what Israel will get if she will withdraw? mmm I have a feeling you cant give nothing in return or propose any benefite you will give Israel in return, the days of one side r over, gaza proven the world that.

44. The quotes, dear Nour, are due to the
fact that it is questionable whether "Palestinians" are really a people. As I've written before, to be a people, one must have a governing system and, most importantly, a unique culture distinct from one's neighbours. Without going into detail, perhaps you can explain to me what differentiates "Palestinians" from their Arab neighbours. For instance, is there a unique cuisine, a unique literature, unique art, etc.? Kindly inform me. More importantly, all distinct cultures have a root myth which binds the people. Egypt and Persia can certainly be identified thusly. As to "Palestinians", the only myth which I can possibly identify is the one of exile from their purported homeland and the hope of return. Exile and return, of course, play a large part in the culture and deep historical association of the Jewish people although, of course, there are other myths (stories) which are also recorded in our history (Torah and other writings). Normally, such myths take centuries to crystallize and bind people together. So that is the reason for the quotations around "Palestinians". You are such an angry and hostile person, Nour, that I fear you prefer argument to discussion. Please note, there is nothing "hit and run" in my continuing attempts to actually engage you. Also, I thank you for (indirectly) writing about the importance of Salam Fayaad to the "Palestinian" people. Incidentally, I have read your posts since you began appearing on Ynet. I note with interest that the "first" Nour was only interested in referring to UN declarations without interpretation of what these declarations constituted and was quite absolute in his/her opinions. The "second" Nour is far more interesting, highly emotional but also informative. Are you two the same person? I'd hate to think that your postings are an aggregate of more than one person such as found in Haaretz Talkbacks with respect to one "Natallie Durson". The latter is really a compound of UCLA mideastern Arab students utilizing this one appelation. At any rate, like it or not, you've encouraged me to respond. I don't much care that you disparage me but I hope I have encouraged you to respond in a meaningful way and not play the petulant student. In that way, I and others could perhaps learn something from you and, perhaps you could learn something from us. Otherwise, all you are doing is conveying your frustrations without making use of a remarkable opportunity, i.e., Ynet Talkbacks.

LOL, "and believe me Hamas is all what you will end up with permanently" WRONG. You have ended up with Hamas as you voted them into power. I just love the way you threaten us about getting your future state at the UN. D e l u s i o n a l you are Nour.

Send a post addressed to the YNet Moderator protesting those posts which you have not authored. They will look up the IP address where your legitimate posts come from and they will look up the IP address where the fraudulent posts come from. The fraudulent ones will be deleted, and the IP address from whence they come will go on a list. It has worked for me in the past in dealing with fraudulent posts.
