31. #30 Amen. Israel should do as Jordan did.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.08.10)
#30 Your comments are right on target. Jordan got fed up with endless "Palestinian" terror decades ago. With no remorse whatsoever, Jordan put a permanent end to "Palestinian" terror on their land. Israel should have done so long ago. However, better late than never. There is no sane reason for Israel to continue to tolerate this murderous scourge.
32. Yes...
Proud Israeli ,   Israel   (02.09.10)
Yes, Debbie #17 tells it like it is. Why didn't the Goldstone report deal with all the Israelis murdered and crippled by rockets and terrorist attacks from Gaza? What other country would have waited 8 whole years of their citizens being murdered without responding? Just let Mexico or Canada do this to the US, and see if they won't fight back. Also, I don't envy Goldstone. He will be written up in Jewish history as a traitor to his own people. I'm glad I not a relative of his!!
33. What should we have done?
Shoshana ,   Israel   (02.09.10)
Should we wait til all the terrorists finish us all off? Should we have turned the other cheek til the last Israeli was killed? No other country would have tolerated what we did for so many years. No matter what we do, it's always criticized. In Haiti we helped more than other countries and there are still many people who talk against us. There is nothing new under the sun.
34. According to the Shin Bet, during the
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.09.10)
six-month period of truce ending in December 2008, 361 rockets and 303 mortar shells were fired from Gaza. So much for Hamas desiring peace! At that time, I was in Ashdod with my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. They all slept in a very small safe room. You had to be utterly alert when you went out. You had to keep a close eye on the grandchildren and you had to know where to run to when the sirens blasted. I think I can safely say that everyone in the south wanted to have Gaza attacked so that we no longer remained targets. Just as the allies bombed Germany and in spite of their original intent to not bomb civilians, in they end, they did bomb civilians and also caused terror to the population. The American staff understood this but also understood that what would have been even more deplorable would have been to lose the war. In the same way, if Israel overstepped the "rules of warfare" against an entity (Hamas) which pays no attention to such rules, then so be it. This is called asymetrical warfare and that is what both Israel and the whole western world is up against with respect to terrorist entities. The only thing worse than overstepping these rules of warfare would have been not to have stopped Hamas. We did obstruct the terrorist entity but, unfortunately, Hamas still remains in power in Gaza. Most Israelis whom I know were disgusted with our government leaders (Olmert, Livni and Barak) for not going further and utterly destroying Hamas. As shocking as this would have been, we would have rid ourselves of the enemy to our southwest and saved both the Arab people of Gaza and Egypt as well as ourselves a good deal of trouble. Unfortunately, Hamas still remains and continues to ruin the lives of the very people who voted them in. We will have to face them off again.
35. #33 you always have a choice !
Heleni ,   Canada   (02.09.10)
Before whining you should check the number of killed people from both side, let's say for the last 65 years or so. Congratulations on your effort in Haiti! and yes, there is nothing new under the sun. The gig is up!
36. self hating?
Paul ,   Cairns Australia   (02.09.10)
Well thats a growing buzzword isn't it. Maybe Mr Goldstone is "self hating". I certainly would be after reading some of the bloodthirsty comments here and realizing they came from fellow Jews. I'd be shopping for a new religion because this one seems to be a refuge for murderers. Not that Gaza wouldn't have already proved that to him.
37. #33, you're a victim of your own propaganda
mkov ,   USA   (02.09.10)
Israel helped more than anyone in Haiti? The Israeli medical and rescue teams left Haiti two weeks ago, but they are still in crisis. Use your mind and don't believe senseless propaganda.
38. top 10 reasons why...
mr. T ,   New York New York   (02.10.10)
it's OK for the IDF to use white phosphorus on civilians in Gaza: #1 it was used in WWI #2 it was used in the Gulf War #3 it was used in Gaza before #4 the shells say "smoke" on them #5 our troops deserve the best #6 we got it from America #7 there's no such thing as a civilian #8 it has "legitimate uses" #9 Israelis didn't invent it #10 we helped out in Haiti
39. Smoke shells and war crimes
Amanda ,   madrid   (02.10.10)
If Israel does not address the Goldstone report and act to rectify the claims of crimes against civillians, it will not be in a position to complain when the same tactics are used against Israeli civillians
40. White Phosphorous
ben Ish   (02.10.10)
WP use is legal for purposes such as illumination and obscuring smoke, and the Chemical Weapons Convention does not list WP in its schedules of chemical weapons. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/wp.htm That is FACT. If you don't like it, then I rejoice in your frustration and anger. Please post ad hominem attacks towards me so I can bask in your incompetence. TYVM. OKBYENOW.

What can one say about this?
42. are we hiding
debbie ,   israel   (02.15.10)
MATTY GROVES You really put your foot in your mouth this time: First you write that Hamas is resisting against "the ongoing Israeli occupation of their land" and then you write "Hamas is still in full power in Gaza." MATTY, make up your mind!! Which is it? Hamas can not have it both ways, Israel occupies Gaza, and Hamas is in full power!! LOL LOL
