1. Cold Blooded murder. Doesnt matter if he's Jewish or not.
Tevye ,   Chelm   (02.07.10)
Death Penalty is in its place. Just I dont understand why it took 26 years to come to this conclusion
2. One law for all... no matter how evil execution is
Sean ,   london   (02.07.10)
The death sentence is barbaric and the fact that the otherwise wonderful USA is in the same company as Iran and China is truly disturbing. Israel has it right, only Eichmann was killed - and that ----- deserved it. However there seems to be no mitigating circumstances that separate him from all the other murderers. Just because he's Jewish doesn't mean he should get clemency... (btw - seems odd Rabbis pleading with 'Christ'...)
3. I hope he fries like a Pototo Latke-wicked murderer
Alan ,   SA   (02.07.10)
4. He lived 26 years longer than the cop he murdered. Yes he is
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.07.10)
a Jew and if he has indeed reformed, Hashem may take that into consideration when he sees him in 9 days.

9. Its a miswa to save a jew
Sparrowhawk ,   Paris   (02.07.10)
A jew who is prisonner of goyim we havé to save it we havé nothing to do if he had murdered goyim unless in a case of hilloul hachem but in this case we havé to save it thé Life of a jew is kodech
10. COLD BLOOD MURDER
GARY L ,   CLEVELAND OH, USA   (02.07.10)
THIS MURDER OR ANY MURDER IS COLD BLOODED, IF THE RABBIS DON'T LIKE EXECUTION SO LATE THE RABBI TAKE THE PLACE OF THE COLD BLOODED KILLER.
11. How dare those fools interfere with....
Dave Wilson ,   USA   (02.07.10)
our American judicial system. If this cold blooded murderer were black, they would not have had a problem with his execution. Just because he is a Jew, does not mean that he should be treated any different from anyone else.
12. yellow dog murderer
eddie ,   london UK   (02.07.10)
shooting a woman - he should be executed. Besides, the Torah says thou shall not kill. Terrorists should also be executed, as should pedophiles.

15. COLD-BLOODED EXECUTION
SDB ,   Israel   (02.07.10)
serves no purpose, other than revenge. This is civilization?
16. Shame on these rabbis!
Steve Klein   (02.07.10)
We are not the Catholic church. We do not oppose capital punishment for cold-blooded murderers. Neither do we show partiality in judgment, because the murderer is a Jew. What Torah are these rabbis consulting?
17. insane excuse
anne ,   aust.   (02.07.10)
the easy way to get out for these murderers especisly if they were j is psychotic problems.
18. Eddie you're funny
Me ,   Israel   (02.07.10)
Angry Eddie ahaha
19. Capital punishment is wrong.
Rabbi Cohen ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.07.10)
It is inherently wrong to kill another when they are incarcerated and pose no threat to anyone. It is a large worry for me how many people who vehemently favor this penalty and disparage against those who would mitigate it. It's troubling to see so many that do not understand our ways.
20. reply to #19
observer   (02.07.10)
It is really sad to see that so many things upset you, Rabbi. But IF the conviction is sound and was carried out through a due process of law - not like the ballot rigging in favour of Mr Bush that took place in Florida, presided over by his brother the governor, and not like the trials given to blacks in other states (eg Texas) - then however barbaric and backward the USA is, that is their law and if you live there you have to accept the law. Is that why you emigrated to Israel?
21. Dear Rabbi Cohen #19
Steve   (02.07.10)
Why is it wrong to put the murderer to death? If it were an accident, that would be an entirely different matter. Mr. Grossman struck the young woman 20 or 30 times before shooting her in the head. Why should a Jew get special consideration in the case of a deliberate murder? Doesn't this rabbinical appeal reflect poorly on Jewish law and tradition? Rabbis pleading for a Jewish murderer's pardon? Moses wrote: "....for blood pollutes the land and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it." Isn't your argument with your Maker?
22. WAR comes to the world
HaDaR ,   US   (02.07.10)
because of DELAY of justice and perversion of justice.... Pirke' Avot NOTHING can be further from justice than executing a man TWENTY SIX YEARS after his crime!!!!
23. 7-8 "gal1" repentance means accepting punishment
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (02.08.10)
This man took a life in cold blood. If he is truly penitent, then he should understand that his own life is forfeit. Then he will receive forgiveness in Olam Haba.
24. Repent?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.08.10)
What does that have to do with anything? Individuals are executed for the crimes they commit, not the people they may (or may not) have become. I am not a fan of the death penalty except for some very special cases. This would not be one of those cases. The people of the State of Florida want a death penalty. This was no angel, having a previous record for burglary. The evidence was pretty clearcut. I don't see a case for clemency here, sorry.
25. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.08.10)
Safely ensconced in Jerusalem, I guess you have no idea how many criminals who are incarcerated do indeed pose a great threat, to inmates and correctional officers alike. And frankly, it makes no difference how much Grossman regrets his crime or may truly repent his actions. He is being executed for what he did, not whom he may or may not have become. Let justice run its course.
26. To: No. 15
(02.08.10)
Did you feel the same way when Adolf Eichmann (may his name be cursed throughout eternity) was executed? Did you feel the same way when many of the Nuremberg defendants were executed? What about the Dachau war criminals tried by the British, wherein many were sentenced to hang? It has nothing to do with revenge. It has a great deal to do with the prescribed penalty for capital murder under the criminal code of the State of Florida.
27. To: No. 17
(02.08.10)
Don't assume facts not in evidence. There were no psychotic problems, except to the extent that you can make an argument that those who would take a life for no good reason are psychotic. Should the Nazi war criminals have gotten a free pass? After all, one may make the argument that anyone responsible for the deaths of millions is truly psychotic. Mr. Grossman has a prior felony record and arguably tortured this young woman before dispatching her with a bullet to the head. He knowingly and willfully committed the crime of capital murder in a state which actually executes murderers. In Massachusetts it's another story, but Florida is Florida.
28. I am saddened by how bloodthirsty we have become.
Rabbi Cohen ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.08.10)
I am very troubled that so many have turned away from our ways. In reading some of the responses here I have a great sadness in my heart that our people have become so callous. My daughter was telling me there are a lot of pretend Jews who write comments that do not reflect who we really are as a people. I did not believe her. I now believe her after reading the responses. I'm calling her now to read to her the responses to me and apologize to her for doubting her observations.
29. Post number 25
Number ,   Boston, MA USA   (02.08.10)
As a Rabbi you should know the DP is permitted in the Talmud. Whether one agrees with the DP or not, please don't insult how other Jews, or what you perceive to be a real Jew.
30. Please read...
shmulke ,   w coast, USA   (02.09.10)
Lev. 24:17. It's pretty plain. It does NOT say "unless it's a Jew". Nuff said.
