Greta ,   Los Angeles, CA   (02.09.10)
I'm shocked that Ynet would print anything this racist and dreadful. Palestine belongs to the Palestinians, not to the Israelis, and Egypt and Jordan have nothing to do with the fact that Palestinians have the right to go home. That's international law. This author is slightly to the right of Leiberman, that dreadful fascist who has no more right to Palestine than I do.
2. Jordan IS itself (not incl Judea aka west bank) 78% of Pales
Jae ,   Lynn US   (02.09.10)
tine Mandate. 1) Create palestine in Jordan (more accurately retrun Jordan back to being Palestine). Do this be diplomacy or by destabiliation 2) All "palestinians become instant citizens of said palestinian state 3) Those that choose to stay in Israel are given residency status- own land and real estate, pay taxes, get miunicipal and state services, dont join army and vote only in regional& local elections, not in national elections Problems erased. Be brave abdullah take ownership that your family are british improts from mecca ruling a populational majority of palestinians on palestine mandate land. Jordan IS palestine
3. One tiny difference...
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (02.09.10)
...between Gaza and the West Bank is that we, thankfully, no longer have settlements carving up Gaza and we can hence say with a clear conscience that we have no responsibility toward Gaza, any more than America has toward Mexico. The West Bank, of course, is a different story: We insist on maintaining an unwanted presence among a couple of million people. Jordan wants to have nothing to do with the West Bank. We may as well ask the Philippines to assume responsibility for the place. If we ever get the sense to quit that area and, plus or minus a few acres, return to qav hayarok, then we can HOPE Jordan and the Palestinians attain some sort of agreement on the movement of people, goods, services, infrastructure, etc. Until then, WE bear the responsibility for EVERYthing that happens in the West Bank.
4. Yes, Jordan is Arab Palestine
David ,   Boston, USA   (02.09.10)
I agree. The border will snake through Judea and Samaria. There already are 2 states, dont create a third, or more if you consider Lebanon and Syria part of the mandate.
5. inevitability: Jordan and its Palestine past...
Jae ,   Lynn US   (02.09.10)
6. Indeed, Jordan shoulder the responsibility for the West Bank
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.09.10)
for one more simple reason: Jordan, in collaboration with Egypt and Syria, was the one that initiated the conflict with Israel in June 1967. Israel captured the territory during that Six-Day War and as a result of it. And since Jordan caused the situation, it must also shoulder the solution to it. Furthermore, UN Security Council Resolution 242 that addresses the Arab Israeli conflict and that were reached as a result of that war doesn't state even once the need to set up an additional state in the region. 242 also does not mention concepts such as "Palestinians", "Palestinian people" or a "Palestinian state". Indeed, 242 calls upon Israel to withdraw its armed forces from "territories", not from all of them mind you, while assuming those territories will then, based on talks/negotiations between the warring parties, i.e. Israel and Jordan, will be taken over by Jordan (and the same goes for Gaza and talks/negotiations between Israel and Egypt). The US, which is warming up to Jordan these days, must demand that Jordan shoulder its responsibility in bringing this conflict to an end.
7. JORDAN'S QUEEN IS A PAL, AND SHOULD LEAD HER PEOPLE

JORDAN'S QUEEN IS A PAL, AND SHE SHOULD LEAD HER PEOPLE TO THE PROSED LAND....WELCOME HOME TO JORDAN MY FELLOW PALS....
8. I completeley agree!

9. Egypt wants gazans in gaza. Jordan wants 'pals' anywhere but
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.09.10)
Jordan. Why oh why does no one want the arab terrorists, they must be so unhappy to be so unloved.
10. Back to Jordan

This is totally brilliant. Guy Bekhor, you are a genius!
11. It's In Jordan's Interests To Blame Israel
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (02.09.10)
This way, they appear like they are helping their brethren Israeli Arabs, and they deflect responsibility for those Arabs tzorres from themselves. Anyway, they avoid actually doing anything to help.
12. the arab world are greatfull for the palestinians
(02.09.10)
the arab world knows , when israel is finished with the palestinians , there turn will be next , one at a time , thats why they prefer and are making sure the conflict will not end ,, egypt will never except gaza , not that gaza will make any differance to there existing population , after all there are 90 million egyptions ,and only 1.5 illion gazans , but for the reason i wrote above , and jordan is the same , the population in jordan is 90% palestinians which is over 5 million and they are the ones controlling the econommy , so what is another 3 million , but for the reason above they dont want them ...
13. the strutting little "kingie"
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (02.09.10)
Abdullah thinks that he can keep 80% of the British Mandate for Palestine as his own personal little plaything. Who gave him that idea? The British coddling his daddy and granddaddy? Here's Kyle's plan: give the prancing little kingie his tribe's original patrimony: the Arabian Peninsula. Send the caravan-robbing gang of Saud into exile to their villas on the Riviera. The Palestinians can have their choice of the Arabian Peninsula or the Riviera.
14. WHAT A REALLY RUDE!
Yafa ,   Palestine   (02.09.10)
I think the author should read more about the exact history about Palestine and not just writing an essays without any references.Israel invaded Palestinians’ land, killed tens of thousands of Palestinians, and conquered much of their land prior to 1967. Palestinians fought to protect themselves and their land, This is undeniable even for a staunch Zionist,Palestinians is not made those sacrifices in order to return to the situation that they were in 1967.finally Palestine is Palestine.. whether you like it or not, whether you believe it or not..Palestine is Palestine not today only; but thousands of years ago…go read history!!!! We know that today Israel is a "victorious", but as long as we did not forget and will not forget the day will come a new generation capable of restoring what you stole from us Q: Have you gotten to the point of insolence you guys to think that Egypt and Jordan, waiting for Israel orders,WHAT A REALLY RUDE
15. Jordan=Palestine=Jewish West Bank
Rafael ,   Yerushalayim, Israel   (02.09.10)
Jordan has no historical role in Judea and Samaria, only 19 years of illegal occupation. What the little king does need to do, however, is to recognize that Jordan IS the Palestinian state, due to the fact that 75% of its citizens are Palestinian. This will open up Jordan's borders to receive all the West Bank Arabs that wish to be citizens of the "long dreamed for" Palestinian state.
16. Gretta #1 Are you Crazy?
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (02.09.10)
Gretta, what the heck are you talking about? Israel acquired the West Bank after Jordan attempted to attack Israel from the W. Bank, which was controlled by Jordan! Therefore, if Israel is going to return W. Bank territority, it should return that territority to the country from which the land was taken. Why is it Israel's responsibility to establish a Palestinian state? Did you see the W. Bank Arabs complaining about being under Jordanian rule? This is an inter-Arab issue that must be resolved by Arabs on both sides on the Jordan River.
17. to #16 thank you, some people don't know

19. LPT
Kevin Walsh ,   Melbourne   (02.09.10)
If Israel goes down this route I assume that there such a move would come with a significant bag of gold to compensate Jordon for assuming responsibilty for the Palestinians lack of physical and social capital.
20. TO #1 Because of people like you Greta we love America
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.09.10)
It is clear that dreams in Israel does not end, But we Palestinians we will continue to tell the truth to our children and grandchildren that the day will come when Mr. BECHOR must choose between staying here as a Palestinian citizen Jew or a return to Europe where they know there very well how to deal with those who are racist and dislike just like yu Mr Bechor!

23. :: Eitan - #6
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (02.09.10)
<242 also does not mention concepts such as "Palestinians", "Palestinian people" or a "Palestinian state"> Res 242 does not mention Jordan or Egypt either, does this mean that Jordan and Egypt do not exist? Eitan Res 242 mentions: “For achieving a just settlement of the refugee problem” to whom does this refer to? Actually it calls on Israel to withdraw from: “territories *occupied* in the recent conflict”. Note the word “occupied”. Eitan point out where the Res states that Israel does ‘not’ have to withdraw from ‘all’ of the occupied territories? Also point out how much land should be retained by Israel, 1%, 10%, 70%? Res 242 does not state that Israel is entitled to retain any percentage of the occupied territories, in fact the Res clearly reaffirms and emphasizes “the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war”. To dumb this down for Eitan and others this means that: NO land may be gaining by warfare. “Assuming” you say? Any ‘assumptions’ where nullified when Jordan ceded any claim over the WB. Eitan like to place the onus of ‘responsibility’ on everyone else *except* Israel. Nothing that Eitan has stated includes Israel’s responsibilities, as if there is no onus on Israel. Clearly as an ‘occupying power’ Israel has responsibilities under international law/Fourth Geneva Convention, to which Israel is a party. First and foremost Israel is prohibited from transferring civilians from Israel’s territory into the “occupied territory” and from creating permanent changes (ie: The Apartheid Wall) in the occupied territory that are not for the benefit of the occupied Palestinian population. Eitan should first concern himself about Israel’s responsibilities under Res 242 before be tried to lump onus on other parties.
24. KING ABDULLAH...
OZ   (02.09.10)
in a recent interview opn cnn rejected the notion that the west bank is jordanian, or was. for him to rewrite history is an absolutely ridiculous. westbankers still hold jordanian passports , and their former currency was the jordanian dinnar. only population exchange could end this conflict.
25. "Occupation" in translation into Arabic: any parcel of land
Gilad ,   Kibbutz Lahav   (02.09.10)
between the River and the Sea that is under a non-Muslim and non-Arab sovereignty, i.e. Israel. It is fascinating how Arabs fool outsiders by using terminology that appeals to the outsider's ear but mean something differently in Arabic which is the true mode of communication among Arabs.
26. 22 Mohammed of Ramallah
Adam ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.09.10)
We have an apartheid like problem but there is not an occupation legally as no country had internationally recognized permanent sovereignty over the West Bank. We have a choice as to whether to give you citizenship or whether to withdraw. However, the West Bank is not a complete unit and we can keep what we like. Jordan as a state with a majority Shami population who speak the same dialect as you and have the same religion and cultural and family ties (as well as Syria) can take responsibility for you. There was never a state of South West Shamis. Why should there be???
27. Salma my dear, Behor came (was expelled) from Iraq!!! not

Jordan's Queen is not a Palestinian. She's Lebanese, and used to be known as Lisa Halaby. She's a Princeton graduate, as is my sister. Her dad used to run TWA before its bankruptcy. And the lovely Lisa was a strong feature at frat keg parties. Just thought you might want to know.

Greta, if ignorance is truly bliss, you must be one happy idiot. Palestine had always been non-sovereign territory. It was never a country. The United Nations was charged with the task of conferring status. It did so in 1947 -- one tiny Jewish state; one very much larger Arab state. The Jews accepted partition. The Arabs did not, choosing instead to go to war. They lost. While Israel thus acquired status as a nation-state, the West Bank did not. Neither, for that matter, did Gaza. That’s what happens when you lose wars over non-sovereign lands. OOPS!! Mistake number one. The Arabs have made thousands of mistakes since. Six wars, dear. Sixty-plus years of unrelenting terror. Three rejections of a two-state solution. Israel's presence in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria is fully legal). Read here: http://www.globalpolitician.com/24388-israel-jerusalem Although you would benefit from reading the treatise in its entirety, feel free to skip down to the section titled "Law on Israel's Takeover of 1967 Lands." Read both subparagraph 1 and 2 -- the first examines the issue under Security Council Resolution 242 (and confirms what I have told you that it is neither binding nor enforceable, as it was issued under Chapter Six of the United Nations Charter, and not Chapter Seven). The second section discusses Acquisition of Non-Sovereign Land in a Defensive War and concludes that international law does not preclude Israel from retaining AND settling Judea and Samaria and, in fact, fully supports Israel’s right to do precisely that. You cannot put toothpaste back into the tube, Greta. Similarly, you cannot undo the results of war, particularly in light of the fact that all of Israel's wars were defensive. All of the wars between Israel and its Arab neighbors have been defensive ones -- the Arabs initiated each and every one. You choose – you lose. The Arabs lost. By the way -- do you know how "Jordan" was created? I'll tell you. The British made Feisal king of Iraq, and Feisal's baby brother Abdullah stamped his little foot and insisted on being a king, too. In order to appease oil-rich Iraq, the British carved out one whole section of Palestine, and named it Kingdom of the Transjordan and made sulky Abdullah king. It has no legitimacy in history. In fact, Jordan attempted to annex the West Bank in 1950, but when the vote came to the United Nations, it was resoundingly rejected. Only Britain and Pakistan approved the resolution. Nevertheless, Jordan, in a magnanimous gesture, extended Jordanian citizenship to all Arab residents of Judea and Samaria -- to them and their progeny. It does not make Judea and Samaria part of Jordan, but it does make their Arab residents Jordanian citizens and that is where, ultimately, Israel will send them. Your knowledge of history is sorely inadequate. I suggest you study and learn the facts before you post your inanities.

Yikes! Mea culpa. Lisa Halaby's father ushered PanAm into bankruptcy, not TWA. Apologies to all.
