I realise how the world can be towards gay people, as it was something I never really thought about, its not always easy or a big 'carnival'. We are a holy land-- why are we bowing down (literally) to these people-- while they may bring money- they bring down civilization and ethic....forget about the religous aspects of it.... they gay lobby is so strong, and everyone has to be politically correct--but if your remember until the 70's this was considered a disease....these people bring AIDS, misc other STD's at a much higher percentage than any other group... let them stay home--- we have enough issues- why attract this group??!?!?

straights have full rights, benefits and privileges simply by being born that way. Gays can't marry, adopt, recieve spousal benefits, have joint mortgages, receive a partner's estate if there is no will, be treated fairly and without derision from the straight privileged society. So we have parades. I personally think they are a waste of energy because what do they give us other than a good party. When we are treated equal to any other straight couple, there will be no more parades.

Good for your son for having the courage to come out, and good for you for understanding and accepting the fact that he's gay. Too many young gays, in addition to suffering from discrimination and stereotyping, also have to face the disapproval and rejection by their own families who should be loving them unconditionally.

As a Dutch citizen I want to respond, In my country gays have the same right as any other person, they can marry, they can adopt children, they receive spouse benefits/pension etc and they have still their wonderful parade in Amsterdam every summer, it is always a wonderful atmoshphere and many straight people enjoy this parade as well....

benefits it in your mind only, I am not getting nothing from my gov except over paying taxes. so what benefits do I get, every year they find new way to make me pay more, and some gay men earn more money than women in the same job, so what discrimination is that, parading is just cheap way to get attantion but not bring the real issues, it's redundant, as a straight person makes me mad they block the main roads in rush hours so I can go home. and they wants special rights that straight men don't get over child custody and visitation rights, if they want that, I want it as well, cause children, in case of divorces go with their mothers, well what about straight men, y should gay men demand something that even straight don't have.
