61. Iraq
Smith ,   Australia   (03.01.10)
Israel asked to participate in OP Iraq Freedom, but because it was in the Mid East, the US decline the offer, as they did not what to aggravate the Arab world. Mate the Israeli's do their own heavy lifting, not function as a remora. When Australia could not get its people out of Lebanon in 2006 war they allowed some out via Israel and provided a safe quadrant in the war zone. Next time they will not, then we will see the value of that passport.
62. Labour is labour wherever you go
Jhan   (03.01.10)
Whether it's socialist Obowmao or the Australian Labour party or the Labour government of what's left of the UK, it's all the same.
63. #45 I am Canadian, and I strongly oppose Israel
Jean-Luc ,   Drumondville, Canada   (03.01.10)
I've visited Israel and the territories on several occasions. For me it's very simple what needs to be done. End the occupation, stop extra-judicial murders, and negotiate with the Palestinians in good faith. If this doesn't happen I'm afraid the Israeli Apartheid Week initiative that is taking roots in university campuses worldwide starting in Toronto will get stronger and stronger, until Israeli is humiliated and treated the same way as RSA was.
64. To blame Israel of what?
Anna ,   Montreal Canada   (03.01.10)
Where is the evidences? It is not enough that 7 Israelis where victimized by the stolen Identity fraud. Where is the rage and protest about other 15+ victims? Who they are? Don't you feel deprived of knowing the real facts? We know there have been detention of 3 Hamas men. We know there are 3 others suspects with the fraudulent passports left Dubai to Iran. But there is no even one evidence that will tight Israel to this matter. How can you blindly accuse anyone like this? And if the link of Israeli involvement will never be found but there will be discovered other "surprises" about Hamas, Fatah, Iran and Syria connections to this execution, would you apologize? Are you capable to accept your personal failure in judgment? Would you change your stereotype about Israel and Jews or it will be only a quickly forgot incident as soon as the real perpetrators will be identified?
65. Disgusting Australians and others
Sharona ,   Jerusalem Israel   (03.01.10)
NO ONE HAS A SHRED OF PROOF THAT ISRAEL DID IT. SO THE AUSTRALIANS "PUNISH" ISRAEL WHO HAS BEEN PROVEN GUILTY OF NOTHING. WHERE IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. WHY DON'T THEY PUNISH DUBAI INSTEAD FOR KNOWINGLY ALLOWING A WANTED TERRORIST TO TRAVEL FREELY IN THEIR COUNTRY?
66. #13 James/Canada NO PROOF!
Sharona ,   Jerusalem Israel   (03.01.10)
Don't YOU get it that there is no proof of any Israeli involvement? Why aren't you protesting the use of fake passports freely given by Arab countries to terrorists? Innocent till proven guilty even in Canada-remember? Dubai has refused to say under which fake passport the terrorist was travelling. Maybe it too was European or Turkish. Taking out terrorists is an act of defense against the war the Islamofascists are waging against the world. Israel is right!
67. And once again we, Jews, play the victimization card ...
Gregg ,   Haifa, IL   (03.01.10)
and cry at the face of the world that we are the poor ones... Can't we just admit once that we are wrong? Nobody in the UN is talking about Jews, but about Israel !!! We always complain that Arabs twist facts but we do exactly the same. Boring....
68. Australia the Occupier
Ari ,   Los Angeles   (03.01.10)
Australia occupied Papua New Guinea for decades and even to this day maintains neocolonial hegemonic control over nearly all the South Pacific/Oceanian Islands. How dare Australia condemn Israel? Israel should retaliate by denying Australia use of Israeli weapons technology in Australia's illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
69. to Allen #57
Arn ,   Yehud   (03.01.10)
I can understand your feelings, but would you direct the same sentiments to the secret services in Australia if you knew that they make use of false passports? Consider this... EVERY intelligence service of EVERY country manufactures false passports. Oh, good morning. Time to wake up. How many false passports was this Muslim mass murderer carrying? The fact is he never ever traveled on a legitimate passport. What no moral outrage here?
70. Give us a prove that Israelis
Anna ,   Montreal, Canada   (03.01.10)
illegally created the Australian passports in order to execute the terrorist. And also don't forget to ask Dubai had of police :"How come there where so many associates in this hit ring and everyone could get in and out of Dubai with security cameras rolling and police guarding?"
71. Statistically iSrael is guilty??
Stan ,   Johannesburg RSA   (03.01.10)
If the reason for blaming Mossad is the 6 passports that related to iSraeli citizens then clearly this is a statistically flawed argument and conclusion, and in fact the EU Stazi should be blamed as 74% of the citizens reside in the EU. Notice how the Dubia chief manipulated this perception by first only announcing 9 passports that related to 6 iSraeli and 3 Irish citizens (67% iSraeli makes it seem like Mossad) and allowing this perception to become established in the world press (who love it) - before announcing the other 23 passports which when using the original context to lay blame would implicate the EU Stazi - but too late - again. Surely any intelligent person would realise that with 3 Palastinians in custody (the ONLY people in cutody) that it is in fact IMPOSSIBLE statistically to be the Mossad. Why has the rightous police chief failed to investigate and produce evidence of the the murder and arms smuggling ring operating with impunity through Dubai ?? Time to come clean. Notice also how the world press who were quick to condem iSrael with block-buster breaking news now need to find some other stick to beat iSrael with as their flawed argument becomes apparent - compliments of the police chief !!
72. Good on ya Mate for doing the right thing!!
Kishen ,   Australia   (03.01.10)
I am bit surprised that Australia has abstained from voting. it should have voted against Isarel. Of all the countries, Australia has the guts to stand up and say passport forgery and using for murder is wrong. For all those who hate Australia!! Bugger off!!
73. An Agatha Christie best seller
Arn ,   Yehud   (03.01.10)
The Chief of Police in Dubai could say categorically that this Muslim monster was (a) strangled, (b) electrocuted, (c) poisoned (d) suffocated. And he can say - again categorically - that they have the DNA of the assassin... the DNA from a hotel room which has a bed only a few hundred people slept on. With an army of"identified" assassins why does Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express come to mind? Anyhow, I wouldn't be surprised if we soon learn that the cause of death was drowning.- with the DNA coming from the toilet bowl.
74. It was a foolish move by Bibi
Baz ,   Morgantown, USA   (03.01.10)
In 1997, he angered some Canadians by using forged Canadian passports in a botched operation. Jordanian intelligence caught them. Dubai's intelligence only got evidence after the fact. However, it is so clearly appears Netanyahu ordered the hit. I understanding using forged passports in an assassination, but the problem is assassinations in 2010 are seen as counterproductive and would only anger allies. And it doesn't make Hamas weaker. It just seeks to provoke Hamas. Also, Israelis had their identities stolen. That's horrible. What's the point in provoking Hamas? Make peace, Bibi, and prove you want to end the conflict instead of using Israelis as a tool of your right wing nationalism. The chutpah you have in using your citizens this way!
75. Passing round the passports.
Joan ,   New Zealand   (03.01.10)
Everyone so very upset because of the use of most agencies using other countries passports. We had a slight bit of trouble in NZ and Helen Clark got oh so cross with the Israelis - On the other hand we discovered that two men the Labour party had welcomed into our land were very busy printing forged passports of all nationalities, much harm done. Did they send them back to where they had come from, of course not, they are still here because to send them home may have been dangerous for them or upsetting for their families.. Human rights I believe they call it.
76. dubai silent
kelvin ,   Australia   (03.01.10)
i have not seen any muslim parading in the streets saying allah akbar no not one on the death of a terrorest well done israel if you ever need my pasport to kill the iran presedent and a few of those nutty iotolas i be glad to give you mine and i am an australian ifact id like to join your mosad and help you !
77. I hear that Europe has been hit hard by storms.
rafael ,   Jerusalem   (03.01.10)
Good !!! The Europeans deserve to pay severely for their hypocritical and cynical policies against Israel. May the Europeans feel the fury of even greater storms in the days ahead.
78. diplomats, the curse of the modern age
Charles   (03.01.10)
What is there to say?. A killer, an assassin, free and protected by the muslim world and a few others, was finally dispatched where he belongs; in hell. Now the " holyer than thou" (Australia) takes a 'moral stand'. HYPOCRITES, DISGUST . The UN is the proper place to display this arrogance, the deals behind closed doors, the total disregard of justice (unless it fits), and yes, the criminal activities when convenient..In the heart of America, near the statue of Liberty.
79. Did I not say to you?!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.01.10)
Dagan should resign and apologize to all States that he stole the passports of its citizens, there is no other solution Which is more important? Dagan, or Israel's reputation at the UN:)
80. Forging passports
Robert ,   Brisbane, Australia   (03.01.10)
When innocent Moroccan waiters are gunned down by Mossad assassins those countries that object to their passports being used to enter foreign countries to perform their deeds are understandably annoyed. Ah you say "That only happened once" and he was only a Moroccan. Why you people are so concerned about what happens at the UN is a mystery as Israel ignores its resolutions anyway.
81. An Agatha Cristie best seller?
MHD ,   Jerusalem, ISRAEL   (03.01.10)
Actually, Purim spiel comes to mind as more appropriate.
82. Media coverage
Robert ,   Brisbane, Australia   (03.01.10)
"Australian media are giving extensive coverage to Canberra's decision to abstain from voting in the UN" That is not correct. The only "Extensive" coverage to this is in the Israeli media.
83. To #63
Mau ,   Newton, MA ...USA   (03.01.10)
How about some other "simple" things to be done in no particular order: 1. Stop bombing buses, restuarants, shops 2. Stop firing "dumb" rockets into civilian areas. 3. Remove from your charters the stated aim of destroying the State of Israel and killing all jews 4. Stop educating your children in schools and tv shows that jews are monkeys that must die 5. Stop educating your children to kill themselves in the name of killing jews 6. Learn the act of diplomatic compromise where you will not get EVERYTHING you want, but 95% should be a good second option 7. RELEASE GILAD SHALIT, and provide information on other MIAs. I can mention many more simple steps, but I will stop here in order to avoid taking up more space. When can we see these simple steps implemented??
84. Insulting Israeli's
Gerard ,   Australia   (03.01.10)
Some of the insulting comments here directed at Australia & Australians are beyond the pale. They contain incitement, slander, racist slurs and inappropriate language directed at us and our government. I suppose as long as their views aren't anti-semetic it's ok? I think the Australian Government acted entirely appropriately and in hindsight, in view of the comments here, I believe even more so now.
85. #26 and #30
Joseph ,   FL   (03.01.10)
You guys are 100% correct!!
86. #52 - Right. Because the world respected us so muc
William ,   Israel   (03.01.10)
when Olmert and Livni were in office, huh? Same racist attacks on Israel, same lame excuses to avoid blocking biased UN resolutions, same absence when Arab terrorists again target our civilians. These things happened no matter who was in the Israeli govt. Blaming it on Lieberman only makes you look like a Leftist trying to regain your foothold in Israeali politics after your legacy of failure. Go return to your ecstacy den in Namal Tel Aviv, and let the adults handle Israeli security.
87. #55 - "Australia is against the death penalty"
william ,   Israel   (03.01.10)
Then what do you call the death of hundreds of civilians as a result of NATO in Afghanistan, of which Australia was a proactive member and the source of many of those deaths? You claim pride and morality, yet you cry for the death of a terrorist/arms smuggler and shrug your shoulders as the death of innocents. If that's you're morality, perhaps the stigma of your country being a once penal colony hasn't worn off yet.
88. #57 - speaking of getting your facts straight
William ,   Israel   (03.01.10)
Are Australians so hot-headed that they're willing to attack a friend only on the suspicion that they stabbed you in the back? Your pride, mixed with your own self-doubt and racism, have allowed you to point the finger at an innocent party. It is you who need to get the facts straight - and you may be wildly surprised when the truth comes out. Your knee-jerk reaction, pride, and wide-scale accusations calling for blood make you more like your Arab friends than you realize.
89. #63 - obvious you didn't spend enough time in right places
William ,   Israel   (03.01.10)
Rather, when you return, please feel free to stay in Sderot or Metulla and see the atrocities of Arab terrorists as they target civilians and decry even the existence of Israel. While the average "Pal" you visit in the territories may say they want peace with Israel, they aren't the ones manking the operational decisions to smuggle in weapons, blow up buses, and ethnically cleanse the region. Like I've always said - get rid of the leaders on both sides, and we'd have peace negotiated by the weekend. Since foreigners like yourself prefer to come in and stoke tensions, support terrorists, and try to equate Israel's self-defense with the systematic racism against S. African blacks, that possibility is kept well beyond arm's length. Israel isn't the problem - Arab terrorism and useful idiots like you are. Sadly, your self-proscribe "morality" suddenly disappears when real atrocities, like Darfur or Sri Lankan attacks on Tamils, occurs.
90. To #84
Mau ,   Newton, MA USA   (03.01.10)
I agree with you that any slander, racial slurs and innappropriate language has no room here. You mention that the Australian Government acted entirely appropriately. What do you base your assertion on? Is it based on the Dubai incident or just as a matter of foreign policy of the government?
