1. IDF becoming Incompetent D.F. ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (03.03.10)
Ever since the IDF has become the tool of the hellenized Jews to opress fellow Jews it has grown inept and stumbles without vision from lack of victory over Hamas and Hizbollah.. The IDF needs to stop taking orders from Washington and weak, faithless politicians who are always capitulating under minimal pressure. and STOP dismantling Jewish homes on Jewish land and start taking orders from Ha Shem. IT IS THAT SIMPLE ! YEREMIAH 17:5

What order from Ha Shem do you want me to obey ? a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself? f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? g) Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here? h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die? i) I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev. 24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
4. Marcel, shut up or join the IDF !
ezra ,   canada   (03.03.10)
Happy criticizing Tsahal with your keyboard from Florida ? We, in the Galut, have no right to judge those risking their life for the jewish state.
5. There's a simple solution. Prohibit soldiers

and officers from joining or logging on to social networking sites while on active duty or during mi'luim. Doesn't take a a brain surgeon to figure this one out.

you are a complete imbecile have a look in the mirror and say this i should be ashamed to make fun of torah please forgive me g-d and then go to a rabbi and ask him all your questions im sure he'll put you right!

Dear Leor 1) Calling people imbecil will not help much in your argument. 2) Believing that I do not know what the rabbis' responses to these questions, shows a very great ingenuity on your part. 3) Understand that the rabbis have interpreted these laws at different times so that they could be socially accepted will show a bit more maturity. (nowadays no one can stone a person using wool and linen through secular laws). 4) Sorry if I offended you, that was not my intention 5)Finally, no one is making fun of the Torah. That is literally what is written on it.
8. I bet it was on purpose by a Leftist
William ,   Israel   (03.03.10)
This is too stupid of an act to have been done by accident. My guess is this soldier was making a purposeful point to either alert "pal" terrorists or have the operation blocked. No different from Leftist "objectors" (aka cowards).
9. These "accidents" on the part of
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.03.10)
soldiers, while unacceptable, should be understood in the context of their youth (between 18-21). while the soldier needs to be punished in order to enforce discipline and make him a needed example to others, we should all be reminded of what we were like in our youth as well.

Please remember that Israeli 18 - 21year old's are years wiser than their North American counterparts as a direct result of their military service. It is simply not appropriate to excuse this incident based on the age of the soldiers. They go through intense training and are well aware of the risks that they are up against. The soldier who did this was more likely trying to find a way out of his army service. And he was successful.
11. "always on, always connected, nothing to hide"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.03.10)
Once upon a time, as I've written elsewhere, Israelis knew how to keep a secret. Now, whether by IM, Twitter or Facebook, some are compelled to tell everything. They start by communicating their every thought and move during the day - as if it all matters - and soon enough they're IM'ing "Got to run. Unit's heading into ... to capture ..." Or "I've just been assigned to work on the ... Enemy doesn't know about it yet." They do now.
12. Dear Reb Ariel: You pose very difficult
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.03.10)
questions and concerns. At first glance, I think the resolution to those problems would be to remove yourself from Sao Paulo and come reside in Eretz Yisrael. In fact, you would need to reside in Yerushalem. In fact, reflecting further, you need to find an abode in Mea Shearim. By such a means, you will manage to resolve all, or most, of your problems with modernity. Of course you'll have to give up the free and easy lifestyle attributed to all Brazilians, no more carnivals and no more eyecatching , freeswinging half unclothed beauties to watch but, nonetheless, you will find fewer inconsistencies with a Torah driven life. What do you say?

Dear Raymond It is a pleasure to discover that we have so many similarities in common. I believe that you are also preparing to change to Mea Shearim. So , we can give up the beach, bikinis, and the horrors of Western civilization. (As you live in Ashdod, I believe you know what I mean). Nice to talk to you
14. Dear Robert (12) , sorry I call you Raymond
