2. What about Muslims roots of in Andalusia?!
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.04.10)
But (IF) we assume that Muslims have succeeded in building a strong country you say they can go to Spain and tell the people there, please, we want to destroy your homes and your dreams, because Because of the Muslims here roots and heritage of thousands of years ago?!!! There are of course to Jews as tothe Christians and Muslims heritage and roots, where they lived, but this does not mean that use this excuse in order to achieve domination and colonialism:(

Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.04.10)
You missed the point of the article. The illegal Arab squatters moved into the archeological site since 1990. In terms of "Rule of Law" (which is applied only against Jews it seems) the criminals should have been evicted long ago. Instead, Barkat agreed to legalize 80% of them and evict only 20% of these criminals. If there are negotiations and you Arab colonists gain control of the area, then you can allow the criminals to keep their houses. I suspect, however, that since the real estate is very expensive, Abbas' friends will kill them and take the houses for themselves.

if you acknowledge our roots why are you so afraid that we explore them, develop them and invest in them? As ststed much of the land was uninhabited so no one stole "your" land, and we jews have every right to be here especially since we have not expelled you or transplanted you like the jew of gush katif!
6. To Salma
Yossef ,   Jerusalem   (03.04.10)
Salam Aleikha Salma, I am sorry, but you are not smart. One day or another we shall live in peace together, sharing the same space, going to the same shops and walking on the same road, everywhere in Jerusalem and in Israel. It doesn't bother me. The sooner this area will be rehabilitated, and the arab families living there relocated in modern and comfortable buildings, the better, for you for them and for us. Don't think that we will disappear soon, we are here to stay and to transform this land, our land, in a garden. Just ask yourself what you can do to help us. On my side, I ask myself what I can do to make happen working together. לך לשלום
7. The lie persists among the weak-minded
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (03.04.10)
The Zionist ethos seems to be summed up as follows: What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine also. There never was, in the centuries since well before the Diaspora, a piece of the area that was 'uninhabited' without someone holding ownership rights. Even Herzl and Jabotinsky acknowleged that there was an indigenous population. I can understand why the writer is a 'former' professor when he fails to state such an obvious fact.
8. Both are correct.
Sarah ,   israel   (03.04.10)
The piece says, "The city claims it will improve the quality of life; Arabs are opposed, saying it is "Judaizing" the area." Both are correct. It WOULD improve the quality of life. It would "Judaize" the area. Judaizing the area is precisely the way to improve the quality of life for everyone, Arab and Jew alike.
9. Deviation
pal ,   jerusalem   (03.04.10)
when we start worsipping people and places and gorget about the bigger picture (worship God ) . Prophite Solomon heard the Queen of ants calling the remaining millions of ants in the valley to evacuate because Prophit solomon army is passing ,he smiled from the queen wisdom and he thanked god to give him the chance to understand other spieces language . the moral of the story ... prophit solomon was happy that he did not harm the ants ..i am sure he won't be pleased with demolishing our homes and making us refugees again for a F*** gardin 5000 years ago ... that is what we call Deviation from the proper Path to heaven ,and misinterpreting the text ..or a violation of an islamic 4th grader common sense . try to read the Ants chapter in the Quran .and see how much we know about prophit Suliman (Solomon ) PBUH .
10. Great article. The truth is 100% on Israel's side.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.04.10)
The truth is Israel's most powerful ally. The truth is 100% on Israel's side. Yet, since Oslo in particular, Israel's government has made practically no effort to publicize it. Yet it is so simple to do so. It takes nothing but a map to show the Arab world has more than 600 times Israel's land mass. Or to prove that Jordan sits on 78% of the Jewish National Homeland. The genocidal rhetoric constantly emanating from PA tv is also very easy to record and play to the international audience. It is also easy to prove, as the author notes, Judea and Samaria have belonged to Jews for more than 3,500 years. Yet Israel's government is doing almost none of these things. Proving our claims and proving our enemies liars won't change Fatah, Hamas and our other mortal enemies. However, we could win the support of countless millions of people worldwide we have failed to tell the truth to. Even more importantly, we'd respect ourselves much more.
11. Jews have been in the land long before Islam
avraham   (03.04.10)
You, Muslims, have Makkah and Medinah, we have Jerusalem, Hebron, Tsfat and Tveria.
12. #7 - Here's a Zionist ethos for you:
Jake ,   USA   (03.04.10)
The Land of Israel has always belonged to the Jewish nation. The foreign occupation is finally coming to an end. Indigenous Arabs have a right to fight this, and Zionist Jews have a right to fight back. The international community invented the imaginary nation-state of Palestine for one reason only - to weaken Israel. West Bank Arabs are Jordanians abandoned by Jordan, and Gaza Arabs are Egyptians abandoned by Egypt.
13. A cheap shot from "Mikesailor":
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.04.10)
Professor Dann is a retired professor, formerly from CCNY. As to his knowledge of history and the current political and geographical environment of Israel, he is extremely credible and what he has to write should be seriously considered. "Mikesailor", on the other hand, in his usual unthinking way, puts out as "facts" in subjects he has neither researched nor knows about firsthand. As to all the land in Israel being someone's property before the War of Independence as "Mikesailor" enunciates as fact, well, that's just not the case. A good deal of the state of Israel and Judea and Samaria was just uninhabited marsh or desert. The land was the remnant of the Ottoman Empire and was simply a region called "Palestine", not a state as such. Nonetheless, the area was inhabited by Arabs and, to a much lesser extent, by Jews. As noted, most of the land was unihabited and, what's more, uninhabitable. It would be useful for all on Talkback if "Mikesailor" were to engage in real research and present his "facts" in a thoughtful manner. I have requested this of him on Talkback on numerous occasions but he consistently fails to respond.

Samer ,   Syria   (03.04.10)
prophets (Ibrahim ,Isac, and Jacoub ) PBUthem all ,came way before Moses who recieved Judaism from God ,so they can't be jews .. all of them .brought the Message of Justice and fairness and submission to God . what we see now in our beloved Palestine is a politisized version of Judaism ...it is like Taliban speaking hebrew . true ,it is deviation from the true message of justice and fairness . demolishing people homes to have a gardin named after a symbole of Justice ..just Funny .
15. #14-Samer - Your ignorance of Jewish history
Allan ,   Ft. Lauderdale   (03.04.10)
is not surprising. Moses did not bring Judaism to the Jews. He brought us the 10 commendments. G-d's directions for a good life. The original Jew was Abraham. The son of an idol maker in the city of Ur (Iraq) who upon hearing G-d's calling left his father's house and went to the promised land -ISRAEL- to become a great nation.

20. RULE OF LAW?
Frank-el ,   Detroit, USA   (03.05.10)
Let's look at this equation: When Israeli's build illegally, it's called "organic growth", and all forms of attack and defensive tactics are used to make it sound like a health food option. Extra bonuses for the PR guys who came up with that crap! When "Arabs" (I gues that means anybody who's not Jewish) build in open areas on land that was mutually shared historically to accomodate their expanding population, it's called illegal and contrary to the Rule of Law. I'm surprised that Jews haven't claimed Adam and Eve as the original "owners" of the "Garden" and subsequently derived world ownership. If this pile of rocks was so important why wasn't it properly excavated and developed 20 years ago?

clint ,   london egland   (03.06.10)
no 20, you havent got a clue about real life history and even religion. The HOLY BIBLE is true and correct and its prophesies are continuously being fullfil, the whole land belong to Isreal and man cannot change God's plans for the nation of Israel and his people. As to the recent fighting in the temple mosque,Israel will someday get in control of the whole area of the temple because the Bible states that the temple must be built before Christ returns. No man or other powers could stop that.
23. # 14

Samer Syria ! You are right, the founders of the Jewish nation,Abraham,Yitshak,Yacov,(Ibrahim,Isac,Jacoub)PBUthem (Aleihem Hashalom) were not Jews, they were Hebrews, after the Angel changed the name of Yacov to Israel, ' you challenged god ' The descendants of abraham,Yitshak,Yacov ,were called Israel till the split in the kingdom of Israel during the time of Rehavam, son of king Solomon,Rehavam remained the King of 2 tribes, Judah and Benjamin, while Yeravam son of Nevat became the King of the 10 tribes of Israel in the north,so the land in the south was called Yehuda, (Judea) while the land in the north was called Israel, after your great great grand father Shalmanaser king of Asyria expelled the 10 tribes of Israel, and the 10 tribes disappeard from history,so the remnants of Israel residing in Judea and Benjamin were called Jews,to this very day, because they are descendants of the tribes Juda and Benjamin, concerning the Archelogical cite, how would any government react if sombody is building illegally a house on a Archelogical cite ? while Yitshak Rabin was negotiating with Arafat in good faith,Arafat was financing Hamas to blow up busses, diskos, and pitsa shops, while all the time cheating the world with the mamtra 'peace of the brave' ,it's not funny at all.tell me why is it ? what you call Palestine is so beloved to you, more than let say Lebanon,Jordan,Egypt,it is just another country conquered by the Muslim invaders from the arabian peninsula, if the palestinias will cooperate with Israel, the archelogical findings will attract many turists to the benefit of Jews and palestinians.
24. #22 BIBLE?
Frank-el ,   Detroit, USA   (03.07.10)
Oh, ye who speak without knowledge. My Bible has a New Testament and in it Jesus tells us to treat others as we wish to be treated, to respect your neighbor and help the poor and sick. My Bible and my religion don't let me treat others like dogs because "the Bible told me so". If God is truly omnipotent, and I belive that he is, then the temple will be rebuilt regardless of what you or I do. In the meantime, respect the teachings of Jesus. The Bible (New or Old Testament) does not give you a license to preach double standards and hypocricy in His name.

Someone should show this to Mr. Biden.
26. #24: Jesus was no chump
Eitan ,   Chicago, USA   (03.10.10)
"And behold, a Canaanite [non-Jewish] woman from that region came out and cried, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon." But he [Christ] did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away, for she is crying after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." And he answered, "It is not fair to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." (Matthew 15:22). That makes 2 world religions that see their mission as helping the nation of Israel. Around the time he ordered the murders or enslavement of all the Jews of Yathrib, the Armenian chronicles of the 660s describe Muhammad as setting off to conquer Palestine for the "Hagarite" Arabs. The Crusades, though ostensibly launched to "regain" holy sanctuaries for Catholic Europe, achieved the death of 300,000 Jews in Palestine. It is therefore doubly interesting that the people who owe the articles of their faith to Rabbinic Messianism's influence, are the same people yelling "Juden raus!" and clamoring for a Jew-free West Bank, where Jews would need to request permission from Muslims to ride a donkey up to their biblical shrines, and risk death simply to worship at the tombs of their ancestors. Thank goodness that the Arabs have rocks and swords, and the Jews have Bohr, Oppenheimer, Teller, and Sziling.
