The IDF wouldn't have to take this measure if the protests were peaceful. Instead, the protesters cause damage to both property and people. The result is a closed military zone. These were not true protests but riots at time and violent, with Palestinian teens throwing stone( which should not be encouraged and is not what protests are) and provoking (with the aid of the ISMrs). If they truly want to protest, come to the Knesset Thursday, make banners, and protest protest in an orderly fashion.
