Israel & Australia have a natural military, economic, cultural, & social affinity; in some cases similarities, in some cases the polarity of "opposites attract". Their interests are remarkably similar in many areas, viewed from both extremes of circumstances & public policy. Both have small (largely immigrant) populations & are the furthest outposts of Western democracy (apologies to NZ & Lebanon) in a very different cultural sea (Asia & Arabia). Both evolved from British control. Israel is tiny. devoid of natural resources; Oz is huge & very rich in resources; both are pragmatic, often simultaneously hard nosed & soft hearted, while honestly trying to do their best in an often crazy & weird world. Both are great at improvisation, & have a self aware, self deprecating humour; Jews are People of the Book, Oz is almost anti intellectual (this is changing). Israeli technology from irrigation to military to IT, is almost ideally suited to Australia, because Israel while is physically small, it has a very wide range of requirements from a small population, across a very harsh environment & large geographic area (ME), very similarly to Australia. Unlike the US, ex USSR, or China, neither can crush, control, or change the environment to their own perceptions, only influence, from competence & good intentions. The world NEEDS both, because the US is an aging, self destructive, 800 kg gorilla which does not have the self awareness to learn from others, & is destroying itself from within, by catering to mediocrity, incompetence, & a belief that it can infinitely expand a budgetary Ponzi scheme to fund consumption & a bloated, inefficient system. I am very proud to have spent a considerable portion of my life in both countries, & in my own way, to have learned, assimilated, & contributed to both. I hope the world has the wisdom to accept & learn from both countries, as the leading (& bleeding) edge is where the originality is, rather than following the easy, oil fueled Jihadist rush to the lowest common denominator of 7th century tribal behaviour.

All self respecting Nation should boycott Israeli goods not least Australia who had the passports used in the recent Dubai assassination. Anyone who signed this agreement should lose his seat in the next election and be drummed out of town.

Two weeks ago you crap on us about passports, then you go buy our technology.
