1. Let us hope Mr. Barake Hussein Obama will have enough sense
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (03.21.10)
this time to avoid humiliating Israel's prime minister once again, if not in word then in form; if not in what is being said, then in what is not being said, in protocol, etc. etc. etc, as Mr. B.H.Obama has exhibited on a number of occasions. East time he attempts to humiliate Benjamin Netanjahu, he should know, he humiliates the state of Israel at the head of whose government Netanjahu stands, and he humiliates the entire Jewish people of which Israel is its nation-state. There is an accumulated affect for this on-going humiliation and B.H. Obama will end up paying for it...!!
2. "Its a PLEASURE to be back in Israel"-Ha ha ha LOL

4. DON'T COME HOME WITHOUT JONATHAN POLLARD!!
Dan ,   Jerusalem   (03.21.10)
5. Read his lips: USA and Israel are allies
Brian Cohen ,   PeoplesFront ofJudea   (03.21.10)
All you Pal supporters and anti-Israel and anti-America wishers are going to have to eat this one big-time. Despite all the predictions and commentary and pontificating about how USA-Israel relations are going down the toilet, the truth is that they are as strong as ever. Get it through your thick heads: Israelis NEVER hold mass anti-America protests and shout "death to America". We don't do that. The Arabs and Palestinians do. We make Americans welcome here in Israel (despite the fact that we screw up from time to time, as do they). They make us feel welcome too. Why is Bibi welcomed in the White House despite the caffuffle over housing in Jerusalem? Israelis don't burn the American flag. We don't hate America. Palestinians do. They are paying the price for their hatred. Let Hamas arrest the murderers who attacked the U.S. diplomatic convoy in Gaza years ago, killing two Americans in the delegation. Then maybe America will see Palestinians in a better light. Oh yea, the Pals should take down all those Osama Bin Laden posters too...
6. To # 1
Lioness ,   Israel   (03.21.10)
You are absolutely right! and also by insulting Netanyahu, and the State of Israel and the Jewish People he also insults the G-d of Israel, so Obama better watch out this time especially as we are coming up to Pesach and we all remember what happened to Pharoah and the Egyptians.
7. look what the cat(barak and not a thin one) dragged in
ghostq   (03.21.10)
mmm rat(mitchel), tell him that his mothership is sinking, ship as Democrat party.
8. Bibi must refuse to meet this guy
Frank ,   Canada   (03.21.10)
Bibi must refuse to meet Obama because it will give an opportunity to he is a "friend" of Israel while he is just a very hostile person.
9. COME INTO MY PARLOUR SAID THE SPIDER TO THE FLY
stude ham   (03.21.10)
or back to the mad hatter's tea party...
10. We see through you Obama
Mike ,   London   (03.21.10)
Obama puts out an invite to Bibi, in order to get Aipac, Senators and House reps to mute their overwhelmingly positive response to Netanyahu and Israel. A typical Obama move but it won't work. Israel has also been wounded by Obama's cynical criticsms which have opened a floodgate of Israel, bashing, has changed the narrative by now defining East Jerusalem as a settlement (with the BBC now calling residents there, 'settlers') and allowing the Palestinians to sit there, hands rubbing with glee. We know who our enemies are, just as we know who our friends are, and Obama is certainly not a friend.
11. Are we going to get the back-door treatment again
Randi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.21.10)
remember last time - netanyahu was ushered in teh back door in the middle of the night with a news blackout. nice treatment from our "best friend".
12. Bibi are you delusional?
never again ,   brooklyn ny   (03.21.10)
don't you realize by now that Hussein Obama is an enemy of Israel and has joined his corelgionists in a jihad against Israel, this terorist and jihadist loving muslim will not only refuse to give you any arms, but will give these same bombs to his arab friends to help them destroy you. this marxist is the biggest threat to israel since Nasser and Arafat WAKE UP ISRAEL before it is too late,if you wait much longer you will wake up one morning and see a mushroom cloud over tel-aviv,the choice is yours, either a mushroom cloud over Teheran NOW or a mushroom cloud over Israel a little later
13. Jerusalem not for sale. Pal right of return is dead duck.
Sam ,   Canada   (03.21.10)
The Arabs want East Jerusalem. The Palestinians want a right of return. They will have neither. There is no way of finessing this. The Palestinians will take a state without having to accept a Jewish Israel so that they can take the rest opf Israel later. The US,EU and UN can throw tantrums if they wish. It doesn't change reality. Jews don't agree to be their scapegoat.
14. invited to the White House?; kol Hakavod!
observer   (03.21.10)
then Netanyahu can ask to release the loan to the settlements with some garish from bunker buster bombs that can be used for Iran and for smuggling tunnels. I hope Netanyahu will not regret the invitation.
15. Everyone
Nate ,   Seattle   (03.21.10)
Behind the scenes, the real point of trying to establish peace between the parties is to prevent a major military showdown between Israel and its neighboring states. If we didn't care, we would let it happen. To the conservative, Christian Americans (this includes my family members): allowing an escalated conflict in the region to continue because of prophecy is not what I would call a good approach to foreign policy. To the conservative Jews (this includes my neighbors): allowing an escalated conflict in the region to continue because of prophecy is not what I would call a good approach to foreign and domestic policy. To all Middle Easterners (regardless of religious background): allowing a continued escalation is going to lead to mutual annihilation. This isn't a joke. Pakistan has nukes, Israel has nukes, Syria is likely to obtain nukes, Iran will eventually have nukes, and once the war hawks start beating their chest, it will be the start of a very, very bad thing. So for the love of all that is good in this world, please start trying a little harder to get along with each other. War is hell. It affects family members, neighbors, economies, communities, and general trust between people. To anyone who is happily moving along toward this path, I would strongly advise you against it. Diplomacy first, even if it includes concessions.
16. How come mitchell does not meet with
jason white ,   afula,israel   (03.21.10)
our F.M.? barak may be a "close friend" to the U.S., but he is not much of a friend to Israel . We have defense matters that should take up all his time. A P.M. with guts would not have allowed mitchell or any other member of the b.o. gang to enter Israel. He would not meet b.o. or hitlery in Washington.
17. Bibi here is some advice
Leah ,   Israel   (03.21.10)
Beware of the snare at night and the arrow that flies by day. Walk in Hashem's way and he will deliver you from evil.
18. Jason
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (03.21.10)
“How come mitchell does not meet with our F.M.?” Because our FM is an embarrassment to Israel and the Jewish people in general.
19. #17 Leah
Nate ,   Seattle   (03.21.10)
Hi Leah, This is good advice. However, be careful not to demonize those on the other side of the fence. These are people with real struggles, real emotions, and in some instances real pain. I'm sure that it wasn't your intention to do this, but just in case...
20. don't go
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.21.10)
Obama is dedicated to the Saudi "peace plan" that can lead nowhere but the destruction of Israel. Obama believes in indirect "negotiations" where the US forces Israel to retreat to 1967 borders and then the Arabs don't even have to agree to end of conflict. Obama tried to topple the democratically elected Netanyahu with the "Ramat Shlomo" trick. Netanyahu has no reason to meet Obama.
21. To No. 17 – almost right
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.21.10)
You have it wrong, the old song goes like this “Beware of the snare SET at night and the POINTED SWORDS by day. Walk in Hashem's way and YOU WILL BE DELIVERED from evil”. We use to sing this when I did my Ulpan at Kibbutz En Ha'Shofet - some of the best days of my life!
22. obama, marv and bibi
alexi   (03.21.10)
Marv, take a look back to the 40s. Arabs have no country, UK rules palestine and the arabs see jews entering the country which they view as theirs. That there was an ancient israel for 2500 years is erased by arabs who disbelieve it. Anyways, everything that happened 48 and after is anathema to arabs and they want to roll it back and kick all the jews out and behead barak, olmert, peres, bibi, livni, sharon, shamir, and other top leaders. On the other hand,, israel came by the land in 48 by a UN vote, fair and square and everything following was provoked by arabs which is totally true and any gains made were fair and square. Now enter obama who to some degree shares the moslem narrative which is replete with lies and distortions as demonstrated by hamas's son moab who spilled the beans on hamas as a filthy, corrupt medieaval movement. That is why assad sr wiped out 15,000 of them in syria and why egypt controls them. Obama is not carter. He is not a coward like olmert, carter or beilin. He is not stupid, in fact he is intelligent. And he has inner strength as he pushes back. Now he just finished rubbing it into israel in return for yishai's department talking about furthur construction in E. Jerusalem. I don't like it but yishai is a fool and his department had no business talking about sensitive issues publically. Just as obama rightly will get a health care bill approved, one that is in the best interest of americans contrary to the wishes of millionaire republicans mcconnell, mccain and boehner who don't need any help, he may be the one to construct some deal with israel and palestine. The only problem is enforcement. The UN and US have been utterly useless in enforcement of ceasefires or rollbacks whether is UN's U thant in 67, Johnson's plan for a suez canal flottilla challenge or Hezbollah and Hamas illegal gun running and rocket fire infractions of 2006 and 2009. US has only been useful in resupply. Any deal will have to include Israeli presence in the Jordan valley and other security locations. Obama has enough credibiity with the arabs who view him as one of theirs and with bibi's government to perhaps be able to strike a deal. Israel is not willing at this stage to go it alone. This may be wise since russia is back to the old soviet of guns, oil and death. EU is as gutless a continent in the history of man yet they are good trading partners of 200 million. So israel does not want to be in a vaccuum. The last 20 years have confirmed that avinery, beilin, ben ami, oron, olmert, livni and ramon, tamir, braverman, peretz and peres were dead wrong and are totally discredited., Yet they wanted peace so much that they brought death and misery to israelis, who would be shmucks to vote them to positions of power ever again.
23. Interesting post, Alexi:
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.21.10)
You pose what appears to be a sensible perspective. I agree with you vis a vis health care. That poor and jobless Americans cannot afford it is an anathma to the USA. As much as I do not appreciate O'Bama's treatment of Israel up until now, you are right, he is the only president who may be able to find a means to communicate with the mideast Arab population. Your view is sanguine, the most positive expression of O'Bama diplomacy. We shouldn't write him off quite yet. It's only his first year. Let's put it this way: If O'Bama can't initiate changes in the Arab Muslim mindset, then no American president could do it. At the end of the day, however, I do not believe he will be successful. In that case, is he prepared to use the threat of damage and destruction of these radical regimes? That remains to be seen. Somehow, I doubt that he can manage to admit diplomatic defeat and conclude that extreme Arab regimes can only be dealt with by force.
