Covering a lady head is in-human, but seating her in bus tail is?!!!!!! Welcome to Israel.
2. Kosher Bus line in Tel-Aviv
Olah   (04.01.10)
"Stop the Insanity". The religious are continuing on their path back to the dark ages and they are trying to take us with them. They need to apply their strict laws to the modern world. Their laws may have fit into Medevil Europe Shtetle life but this is 2010 in a hot, modern democratic country. The Rabbis are not doing their jobs right- they are the one's who should be teaching their followers to apply Jewish law to the present day. Shame on all of them.
3. I guess the haredi world is great for gays...
David ,   Norway   (04.01.10)
It's like a men's only night all day long....
4. Special buses ONLY for them, is fine
Talula ,   Israel   (04.01.10)
So long as seculars are not forced onto these buses because there isn’t another choice, I can’t see the problem. However, if this bus has actually REPLACED the line that goes from Tel-Aviv, via Bnei Brak to Ashdod, and seculars are forced to get on them through lack of choice, then there is going to be a problem of biblical proportions.
5. the arabs and ahmanijad can relax. the ultra-orthodox
are doing their job   (04.01.10)
As a secular Israeli, the real threat to Israel in my opinion are the ultra-orthodox. They are a burden on Israel's economy, and they weaken are society with their primitive, backward, Taliban like life style which they insist to coerce on all Israelis. They are dangerous parasites and our stupid politicians give them more and more power so they can keep their chairs. Because of the money they get from the government they make a living out of making lots of babies, not serving in the army and "study" in yeshivas instead of working as any other normal citizen. In 10-15 years they'll be the majority here. That'll be the end of Israel. So to all Israel's enemies - just sit and wait patiently... you don't need to do anything, these crazy ultra-orthodox are doing the job for you and much better than you ever did or will.
6. Liberal Means Freedom Of Choice
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (04.01.10)
and if people choose to sit separate, what's the problem? Why all this secular coercion?
7. "in the end this is a battle that should take

place in the Knesset". If it does not then it will take place on the streets. This is inevitable.
8. If 332 is not the ONLY bus, then boycott it if you want, but
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.01.10)
let others ride it the way they want.
9. A lovely woman I met in Israel named Ronit whose husband
Rivkah   (04.01.10)
Yaacov was disabled lived the Torah in my opinion and I learned many things from her example as she took me shopping and to visit her parents in Netanya on buses and trains. She automatically went to the back of the bus and took the lesser position, as the larger vessel. What? Yes. Ronit was what Confucius would call the larger vessel which takes the lower place so the smaller or lesser vessel can take its place, supported by the greater vessel. Ronit was so sweet and kind and her husband Yaacov was so abrasive and severe and hurtful. She loved him and what was offensive to me rolled off her back like water. She did not see sitting on the back of a bus as an oppression. It was her nature as the larger person to take the lesser position. Rabbi Yeshua said the greatest among you is the servant of all. The pharmacy in Netanya where the beautifully natured Ronit works is lucky indeed to have her, as is her husband.
10. "kosher" bus line
George ,   Amsterdam   (04.01.10)
To 6 and 8. There is no choice. This is forced separation. Women have to sit in the back. "Sometimes it's a difficult process, but in the end they get the message." The forced separation between races, religous groups, ethnic groups and genders is always justified on religious grounds.
11. Why don't the men sit in the back instead?
Wesley   (04.01.10)
12. GREAT IDEA ,ANYTHING WHICH
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (04.01.10)
Pisses off Yael Dayan ,the jew-hater must be a good thing. But I would go even further...men inside the bus, women on the roof and Yael Dayan pushing the bus.
13. EYE EYE DAYAN
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (04.01.10)
Yael Dayan ,daughter of Moshe ,the one eyed pervert who gave away the keys of the Temple Mount to our enemies so he would look like a nice guy .
14. Why now?
Israel   (04.01.10)
Judiasim is as old as the hills - so why only NOW are they insisting on segregated buses in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv? It's not like a bus is a new invention, they've been on our roads since, forever, so what's the real reason beind all this?
15. Tel Aviv is and must remain the city of liberty
David Or-El ,   Turkey   (04.01.10)
So what now? Israel is becoming a muslim state?
16. Medical reason to sit in front
Dan ,   RG   (04.01.10)
I believe the women should sit in front since the ride is smoother. The men can sit in the back, and the seats can face the rear, they wont see the women.
17. This is not the way or will of the creator.
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (04.01.10)
18. Pathetic. Let them live in Afghanistan with the Taliban
(04.01.10)
No segregation in Israel!
19. Ridiculous
Arina ,   Hertzliya   (04.01.10)
It can't happen in Tel Aviv at all!!! It shouldn't even happen in any city of this country. I also hope that this ridiculous rule will be prohibited by law. It's unacceptable that in the 21st century women and men must live in this sexual apartheid. There must be protests against this in Tel Aviv like there was in Jerusalem 3 weeks ago. In Tel Aviv NO!!!!!
20. Why?
Arina ,   Hertzliya   (04.01.10)
I always ask myself the same question: Why women have to sit in the back and not men? If this isn't segregation I wonder what is...
21. What Is The Basis For This?
emanon ,   USA   (04.01.10)
I may not be the most religious Jew, but I don't remember reading anything in the Torah that forces a separation of sexes on a daily basis. This sounds more like the taliban . . . What's next? Beard checks for the men?
22. sad
adi   (04.01.10)
wow!!! this is what we can call evolution, progress, setting an example for our neighbouring countries, etc... pathetic, insane and retarded, this is what this idea is. Then, when we see Muslim women walking behind the man, or with their heads covered, we are stunned, surprised! OMG! we have hit rock bottom.,,, and yes, as long as they have a voice in the Government, we (Israel) will become the same or even worse than the countries we usually criticize. PITY!
23. 12,13 Lawrence, stop writing like a simpleton
israel   (04.01.10)
Your talkback is so juventile to attack her father. She isn't her father. And your delight at her getting so angry is quite bizzare - most of the Israeli population is right behind her.
24. 15 Not muslim, religous

25. The men at the back with blindfolds!
Elisabeth ,   Amsterdam   (04.01.10)
They will quickly ask for normal busses again if that becomes the policy.
26.  forces women to sit in back
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (04.01.10)
come on, I ride the meherin bus every day in Jerusalem. If a lady sits in the front sometimes, but not always, some one will mention to them that this is a kosher bus and women sit in the back and the men sit in the front. But I have never in all the years that I have rode on the 40 bus (every day, twice a day) every seen someone " force women to sit in back " This is merely fear propaganda!!!
27.  'Kosher' bus line operating in Tel Aviv
Damien Rozan ,   Tel Aviv , Israel   (04.01.10)
I am a secular jew living in Tel Aviv. Chairwoman of the City Council, Yael Dayan and Councilmember Meital Lahavi are talking about liberality and equality. Equality of what I ask? To suppress the right of religious or ultra-Orthodox jews living in Tel Aviv to be able follow their religion with belief, heart and soul. Can equality be as being able to have the same rights according their own beliefs? There is a bus specifically for this purpose and these two women jump up and down. There are people forget what country they live in - ISRAEL. Just because Tel Aviv might be a secular city doesn't mean religious or ultra-Orthodox jews living here should be suppressed. Where is the the freedom and equality here? Remembering we all have rights to live the way we want according the the law. Thanks Damien
28. This is merely fear propaganda!!! says Larry from the USA
