Why good examples of women are always those who become microscopic like your Ronit? Why women are always admired when they forsake their pride, their sexuality, their rights, their independance and are SERVANTS??? It's unacceptable this role given to women. I don't admire women like this Ronit at all, I'm just sorry for all of them.
33. Why do we Jews need the hara-dim
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.01.10)
in our country? They should be sent to any country in the world that is stupid enough to take them in.

YAEL DAYAN: DO NOT LET TEL AVIV BECOME A BENE BERAQ, A QUM OR A RIYADH!! REVOKE THIS BUS' LICENSE FORTHWITH! Posted by: A E ANDERSON | Weehawken, New Jersey
35. Holy Land?
David ,   Sharon, MA   (04.01.10)
Really? Is this how we want our Holy Land to be seen throughout the world?! This is sexism pure and simple. There is absolutely no basis in Halacha for the mandated segregation of men and women sitting on a bus! Haredi men - control your yetzer hara without bringing such ugliness into our Holy Land.
36. gender issues
charedim   (04.02.10)
I can understand that one should segregate changing rooms in the gym but on a bus!! sounds like the sight of the opposite sex will be far to arousing and cause great sin to happen on the bus... this is bull.. Charedim should relax and get a life. They think about sex all day long like most men do.. So sitting separately will do nothing for this issue. It may however promote gay feelings as the men will always be sitting together... and after a while..... well you know the rest...
37. Bus service
Ken Johnson ,   Scotland   (04.02.10)
In the 1950s British Railways used to have women only compartments on trains, although they never had men only compartments. So one way of looking at this is that Connex, who incidentally also provide train services in some parts of Britain, are only sixty years out of date.

Y'hovah created the universe and all that is in it and He makes the rules for those who want to be a part of His Kingdom that is everlasting life. It is impossible to follow rules that please the Lord unless the Lord enables a person to do so. Ronit reflects the face of God shining on her and that is beautiful to me. That is not beautiful to you. Now is the time to ask yourself why what is approved of Y'hovah is not attractive to you. There are two camps in the world: God's camp and the devil's camp. Either you want God's rules in your life or you want the devil's rules. A young woman named Julie Loo Mendes was independent and sinful and gaudy in the apparel of the ungodly and she was in rebellion against Y'hovah, but God loved her and changed her. She was broken hearted when the male (I cannot call him a man) she loved abandoned her after corrupting her. So the Lord then sent another man into her life named Paul Mendes who married her and she has three children, now. She was all you would admire before she met Paul. She is what I admire since she married Paul. The transformation of the beautiful young woman reflects the face of Y'hovah shining on her. She is lucky to be so loved by the Lord that He changed her into being what He wants her to be. You should be so lucky. Paul Mendes is the grandson of John Harris of the Harris Ranch family in Central California, a megawealthy family. You can see her photo on Facebook. She looks chaste and holy and modest and happy. If she had stayed worldly and independent like you and refused to marry when the Lord gave her that opportunity to be holy, she would not be as happy as she is now. She works very hard as a mother and wife and not longer hates Y'hovah/Yeshua or His ways and rules and that pleases her husband who was attracted to her glamour but does not want her to remain that way, attracting other men. Proverbs lists a number of professions women can pursue under the protection of the Lord in the last chapter and retain her holiness. Most of the women like Ronit work outside the home because they have to. But Julie is lucky to be able to stay home with her children. That would not appeal to you but giving up what is worldly for what is godly is a BIG step in the direction of attaining God's Kingdom eternally. That can only be done if the Lord enables you to. It is impossible to accomplish on one's own since the devil is so appealing and the beautiful side of evil is so addictive. Julie rebelled against God as a teenager because her heart was broken by many things. Her birth mother was raped by a Black and did not abort the resulting pregnancy because that would have blotted out the mother's name and the biological father's name from the eternal book of life. Instead the mother bore the shame of having a Black child who obviously was not her husband's child. But the Lord loved the child and blessed her with a good husband, just as he blessed the child of rape who is now in the White House and is a US President whose mother would not abort him even though the birth father did not marry her. Ann Dunham was seduced by a family friend named Frank Marshall Davis who did not want to divorce his wife and cover his sin by marrying a teenager. So he paid Barack Obama, Sr. to say he was the father. Photos of the three that were in American Free Press and it is obvious President Obama is Frank Marshall Davis' son, not Barack Obama, Sr.'s son. A worldly mother would have aborted the pregnancy and you would have applauded that being independent and rebellious against God's rules as you are. But being godly, Ann Dunham gave birth to the illegitimate son. The Lord has shown me what His opinion of Ann Dunham is. She is a mother of God, the highest calling a woman can be. She protected the eternal life of herself and the biological father by giving birth to a son that most other women would have aborted. God's way is better than the devil's way.
39. WHY HAVE KOSHER BUSES?
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (04.02.10)
When treif ones are SUCH fun darlings... to have a beautiful young lady sitting on my lap while we move to the groove and share our seat to the beat is what I call a religious experience.Seriously ,to the crazy Haredim and to the crazy seculars ; LIVE AND LET LIVE and as the gangsta rappers say ;respect your bitches.

Are you serious? April Fools Day was yesterday. Please tell me you aren't serious.
42. Discriminatin of men?
Darek ,   Gdynia, Poland   (04.02.10)
As I understand the halachic "rationale" for the separation is avoiding sex based distraction of men and avoiding disgrace of women (which would take place if men would look on women with you know what kind of thoughts). If so, it must be example of discrimination of men (at least those who are not gay haredim, ha ha). I wonder if obtaining the bus service licence does involve some obligations concerning equal treatment of both sexes (equall access to the service); I guess it needs some semi-legal action "to make the willful passangers get the message" :-/

I can't believe what you wrote--racist, hateful words hiding under an umbrella of "holiness." Re the subject of article: If this bus line receives subsidies, this should be stopped--no gov't should support second-class segregation of any group.
44. Separate Lines
Av   (04.03.10)
If they really have their mind set to this, why not make these lines identifiable-distinctive numbering or better yet-a separate company from Dan. While we are at it, how about it not be government funded as it is excluding the secular riding public.

Keep it up! Your comments have me in stitches.

As i suspected it was just a matter of time before they started forcing their fanatical life style on the secular population of Tel aviv.
47. Buses
Albi ,   Ashkelon   (04.07.10)
If the women are cowed and passive enough to put up with this nonsense, then they deserve it. Perhaps the disgraceful attitude the man have for keeping the women inferior is the reason so many haredi men frequent prostitutes--who may not be kosher. Oy Vei !!

Religious segragation has no place in a public sphere. Period!!!! On this issue we'd better start learning from the French.
49. Segregated buses
Elissa Macklin ,   New York   (04.13.10)
In the interest of equal treatment, I propose that half of the segregated buses have women sit in the front and men in the back (they could even have women drivers). Do you think this would be acceptable?
50. So Judaism is just like Islam

Well, that's good to know. NO more donations from me!
51. Miryam's song
egalitarian ,   Budapest, Hungary   (04.20.10)
could Miryam sing her beautiful song upon crossing the red sea if she had to live according to the haredi halacha? Would she be seated not in the first row but at the end of the bus? Just think of her when speaking about public mechitzah.
