1. if the allegations r correct this woman is a traitor!
(04.08.10)
2. Only house arrest for "most severe" case in Israeli history?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.08.10)
It hardly surprises that Haaretz should be involved in such a disclosure of sensitive documents, or that Anat Kam stole the documents, as her lawyer claims, for "ideological reasons". And that makes it right? It's not for Blau to decide which documents may jeopardize Israel's security forces. If he withheld any, he too should be prosecuted.
3. How on earth do these sleazebags
Yeh yeh   (04.08.10)
get given these sensitive positions? This piece of walla rubbish and that creepy cyber spaced out creature in the Ramat kal's office? Whoever PUT THEM THERE is to blame. These marionettes are programmed by others much higher up.
4. Let her grow old behind bars if its true
Alon K. ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.08.10)
We have enough traitors in this country as it is, but leaking secrets should be punished most severely. Too bad there is no action taken against other forms of treachery.
5. to Haaretz?
alex ,   t-a   (04.08.10)
Is anyone surprised that classified material goes to Haaretz , and for what? Is Haaretz a trojan horse then? Will somebody ivestigate its activities which they hide behind the notion of freedom of speech? Then "house arrest" for espionage charges? I remember Grigory Lerner was put in a top security solitary cell after charges of evading taxes, how much more dangerous was he for state security that this woman? One can only go on asking many questions...
6. A traitor is a traitor is.......a traitor.
Nora Tel Aviv   (04.08.10)
All those involved, including dear Haaretz itself, should be judged then punished according to the laws of treason. Who are those that convinced this young female soldier to steal regularly hundreds of top secret military documents and give them (sell them? to an Haaretz journalist? Who are those that gave her afterward a job as a reporter(Sic) in order to protect her and themselves from the law? Traitors are traitors....they deserve punishment.
7. Sentence should be harsh
Shulamit ,   Israel   (04.08.10)
If this is true she should receive no less than 40 years in prison for this act of treason!
8. Vanunu by another name
Arn ,   Yehud   (04.08.10)
Evidently this lady could not compromise the strength of her principles. I can respect that. Let justice be served, but after her time in prison deliver her to her beloved Gaza. Here in Israel she will bear the scar of Cain to her last days.
9. her ideological motivation
Marcel ,   Florida   (04.08.10)
The reason the Israeli media hide her motivation to betray her country is because she is an extremist leftist like them. From within Israel the seeds of destruction grow because the godless left hate the God of Israel and love lies and darkness. In order to appease an un-appeasable world Israel has grown weak, naive, soft and careless. A tough Israel will survive ,an Israel that is weak and always showing restraint will not. Make an example out of this extremist leftist traitor from within.
10. Why should the journalists be exepmt?
Marina Oliver ,   Tel Aviv   (04.08.10)
From being charged like anybody else under the same laws for treason? And why should their sources be protected? They always hide under the "freedom of press" BS. The morons do not realize that what they do could directly lead to a state of affairs where they will never be able to express their point of view or sell their stupid papers.
11. good
Simon d ,   Haifa   (04.08.10)
good to know that some are willing to expose the IDF as a brutal occuping force ,well done Anat you are not a traitor in my eyes
12. unbelievable
noose ,   jeru   (04.08.10)
Diskin should sit in the same cell with Blau. Who ever heard of any government treat a situation as serious as this with kid gloves. Which citizen of Israel would not give back to the army any classified material? After the Russian communist govt. fell they admitted that they planted their media people all over the world for their purposes. How do you think parents of soldiers feel when our establishment allows these pinko so-called journalists to endanger our fighting men and the entire Yishuv.
13. #4: No, thanks. That would be OUR taxmoney paying for it.
5th generation ,   Israel   (04.08.10)
If she's so in love with terrorists, let her be dealt with as THEY deal with their traitors. This spoiled brat and her even more spoiled reporter buddies can feel what an Israel without security would mean.
14. wait that is not all, from what I know 100% true
ghostq   (04.08.10)
Haaretz's economic news paper bankruppet, actually more closed due to serious convictions over plegiat articles, their journalists just copy someone elses iteams and added their own names(yeah more than one journalist) on articles they have never written. and court basicaly fined the economic section by Million of NIS so they couldn't afford those sums so they closed the economic section. sweet karma to the max.
15. Traitor should be in prison for life, so should Blau
m   (04.08.10)
And Haaretz should be investigated for their support to the enemy. This wohle story has nothing to do with "freedom of speech", which is just a fig leaf, it is plain support to terrorism for the destruction of Israel done by self haters like Haaretz, Blau, Haas, Kam and many professors at universities who teach the students self hatred
16. She is a leftist...
Yerushalmi ,   Jerusalem   (04.08.10)
...that's how she got the sensitive post. Vanunu was also a leftist, and was underqualified for his job, but he got it, on his jew hating arab loving credentials. From what I have heard, it is the same story with this traitor. They don't let patriotic youth serve who are not prepared to throw loyal israeli citizens from their home, and she gets one of most sensitive spots in the army...
17. every good person is enemy of the state
ivan ,   haifa   (04.08.10)
Not only in Israel,in every country.
18. missing details
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.08.10)
In high-profile cases such as this, the press usually reports more details about the accused. Is Ms. Kam Haredi? Religious? Does she live in Judea and Samaria? Does she hold Right-wing opinions? Did she study in the Har Bracha college?
19. freedom of speech
nosson ,   jerusalem   (04.08.10)
I just read Silverstein in Tikkun Olam. He is demanding that we grants these radical leftists the right to yell fire in a crowded theater. If Israel puts this issue to a 'vote, that is to grant freedom of speech in these issues or to protect us from internal espionage-I think that the latter be the overwhelming choice.
20. She did wrong and should pay the consequences.
JO   (04.08.10)
If you cannot trust your soldiers, especially in central command, there is indeed no security. Her actions may have caused much harm and true life dangers. However well she meant she did wrong here. It does not serve the country at all, though it may have served her career as she wanted to be a journalist, and walla, she is at 23! This was not about a corrupt regime and the need for exposure of real crimes, the IDF is a normal army in a very open country and has many procedures for justice, and faces real enemies.
21. Is it my fertile imagination or is it indeed a fact
Erastus CoupeDeVille ,   Ong's Hat, NJ USA   (04.08.10)
that Colonel/Judge Einat Ron looks like Jabba The Hutt.
22. It is the leftist "swan song"
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (04.08.10)
23. Haaretz track record
Arie ,   BaGolan   (04.08.10)
With their track record, it is not surprising that Haaretz would act in the interest of our enemies. The newspaper, partially owned by the German company founded by the Nazis just before the Shoah, has a blatant history of competing with al Jazeera to see which one is most representative of al Qaeda and the islamist terrorists
24. Let us hope she spends the rest of her life behind bars!!!
Anat ,   Hadera, Israel   (04.08.10)
25. Blau is in London
David ,   USA/ISRAEL/EGYPT   (04.08.10)
That means that the British government and Haaretz are together on it. Do like the Brits do. Send a low British diplomat HOME. Tell the Brits YES WE CAN for you meddling into Israeli affairs
26. What about revealed illegal assassinations?
Hana ,   Jerusalem   (04.08.10)
Hopefully someone will with the same enthusiasm investigate what this leaks revealed: That is illegal assassinations of Palestinian cell leaders.
27. Not only a potential traitor, but...
(04.08.10)
really ugly too
28. Left-wing radical
Lioness ,   Israel   (04.08.10)
Jonathan Pollard has spent decades in jail for allegedly spying for Israel with no sight of being released. He is supposed to have given Israel material that the US did not give us and should have, no harm was done to the US in any way. This leftwing fanatic has put lives at risk and should spend equivalent time in prison, Pollard is a hero, she is a traitor!
29. Lock her up and Throw away the keys!!!!
Charles ,   Herzliya   (04.08.10)
30. anat kam
saddikdora@hotmail.c ,   kiron israel   (04.08.10)
What did she gain out of those leaks and can't israel force Blau to return to Israel?
